The Church of St. John of Nepomuk at Štěchovice
Fatková, Markéta ; Novotná, Eva (advisor) ; Bydžovská, Lenka (referee)
The Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Štěchovice There are not many Art Nouveau constructions in Bohemia. One of them is the Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Štěchovice designed by the architect Kamil Hilbert. Although the construction is not built in the pure Art Nouveau style, its individual parts and elements are taken over for example from the Roman or Renaissance style, it remains probably the most popular architectural example of this style. In view of this fact it is interesting that neither the church nor the builder were devoted sufficient attention in the past. There are not many sources and literature available. Experts devoted their attention to Hilbert only in connection with the preservation of monuments the modernisation of which was his merit at the beginning. Hilbert's own creation remained on the edge of the interest, be it creation dating back to the end of the 19th century or the first decades of the 20th century. The aim of my work is to inform the readers about the personality of the architect Kamil Hilbert and to depict his most important construction, the Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Štěchovice. I focused not only on the brief statement of data, but I tried to incorporate the life and creation of Hilbert also into broader connections, to mention the politic as well as...

Negative humanism of Michel Houellebecq

This bachelors thesis is focused on the famous Viennese composer, pianist and teacher with Czech ancestors, Carl Czerny. The thesis should serve not only as an informational resource for those who rightly consider Carl Czerny as one of the most significant composers of piano instructive literature in 19th century, but also for those who do not have such a good attitude towards this person. As I consider Carl Czerny to be one of the founders who formed the modern concepts of piano playing, in the thesis I accentuated his great piano works counting over 600 opus numbers with emphasis on his instructive literature. The benefit and goal of my work should be showing the personality of Carl Czerny in connection with his activities regarding composing and music-teaching, and presentment of his piano works. In one of the chapters, the reader will be briefly acquainted even with other significant authors of piano schools and piano etudes, who were among contemporaries of Czerny. Another chapter will focus on the concept of the etude and on its development especially during the 19th century. One of the most important parts of my thesis should be devoted to instructive work of Carl Czerny and should be a lead in finding a suitable instructive literature for piano students of all ages. I will present 3 complete catalogues, of solo piano works, of instructive literature and of piano works for 4, 6 and 8 hands by Carl Czerny sorted by opus number at the end of my work.

School media create from school peculiar type of public sphere too. School media production has quite long tradition in the Czech environment. First school media have a form of school or class magazines, which have appeared in the mid of 19th century. At the beginning, they were made from initiative of pupils and students.
