Theory of the Firm from the view of New Institutional Economics and some Aspects of Institutional Framework Quality in the Czech Republic
Vitík, Robert ; Sirůček, Pavel (advisor) ; Soukup, Jindřich (referee) ; Žák, Milan (referee) ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (referee)
This doctoral thesis presents the basic and the main developments of the theories of the firm rooted in Transaction Cost Theory (TCT). Since the article of Coase on the nature of the firm, this question has been elaborated by number of economists. In my point of view, I would like to introduce the last theory developed by the representative of the school called New Institutional Economics. The theory concentrates on the role of institutions. We distinguish institutions formal and informal. The formal are laws, constitution, regulations, contracts and other written rules. The informal don't require a written form and they represent informal restrictions such as rules of behaviour, conventions, traditions and habits. The main purpose of the institutions in their various forms is mainly to protect property rights, enforce voluntary contracts and establish the physical and regulatory infrastructure to facilitate economic activity. Generally, we can call them the rules of the game. They inform us about possible economic behaviour and give us basic restrictions in this sense. First -- the theoretical part of this thesis, we can find a simple model with human asset specificity based on TCT. The main proposition is that transactions with a high level of asset specificity are more probably internalised because the firm handles better such transactions compared to the market, even if asset specificity increases the cost of coordination in the firm. If the hierarchy, for example through the formation of routines, may enhance the efficiency compared to the market, we can modify the previous model. The model developed according to a Knowledge-based view assumes that asset specificity reduces transaction costs inside the firm and increases transaction costs on the market. In the conclusion of the theoretical part is discussed the reply on first formulate hypothesis if the TCT is still compatible with a newer Capability and Knowledge based view. In my opinion based on the presented arguments and views, both theories are compatible, they can answer more questions and explain more issues. The last step links the aforementioned theories into one Theory of firm boundaries. In the practical part of the thesis, I bring basic arguments about the institutional framework quality in the Czech Republic. These arguments rely on the latest studies of the international institutions such The Transparency International, The Heritage Foundation, The Kurtzman Group and mainly The World Bank. Studies reveal certain weak arrangements concerning for example the number of procedures when starting a business, complicated construction permits, rigidity of working hours, time-consuming and administrative demanding tax system, duration of judicial process which results in ineffective contract enforcement and mainly poor protection of property rights. Taking these disclosures into account we have to say that emergent transaction costs are enormous. These transaction costs influence negatively the competitiveness of the firms and the whole Czech economy. Therefore a negative response to the second hypothesis relating to the quality of the institutional framework in the Czech Republic.

Investigation of Biologically Active Plant Secondary Metabolites by Antioxidant and Anti-Aggregative Tests
Řeháková, Zuzana ; Jahodář, Luděk (advisor) ; Semecký, Vladimír (referee) ; Grančai, Daniel (referee)
The effort to find compounds with significant antioxidant properties and with some other therapeutically useful biological activity (e.g. anti-platelet activity) from the wide group of sturcturally different naturally occuring compouds (or plant extracts) or their synthetic derivatives, was the purpose of this work. Radical Scavenging activity of tested compounds or plant extracts was measured by modified DPPH test use program SIA (sequential injection analysis). Singificant radical scavenging activity exhibited polyfenols, namely gallic acid (EC50= 0,0025 ± 0,002 mg/ml) and ethyl-gallate (EC50= 0,0038 ± 0,001 mg/ml). Also the pure latex of Croton lechleri exhibited significantly radical scavenging activity (EC50=0,0347 ± 0,018 mg/ml). From the group of tested methylcoumarins, the excelent antioxidant aktivity exhibited ortho-dihydroxy-4-methylcoumarins, espicially 7,8-dihydroxy-4- methylcoumarin and its derivatives (EC50= 24,9 ± 2,7 μM). Further was the antioxidant activity tested by FRAP methods modified to used micropalates P 400 μl. This spectrofothometric method based on ability of compounds to reduce Fe3+ to Fe2+, confirmed the antioxidant activity of ortho-dihydroxy-4-methylcoumarins. The antiplatelet activity of pure compounds and herbal extracts was assayed in vitro on the model of human...

Determination of content substances for selected species and varieties of roses.
Slavíková, Eva ; Sus, Josef (advisor) ; Súkeníková, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor's work is focused on comparing the most significant content substance, vitamin C, in fruits of chosen rose kinds species and varieties. Herbal products are often seen by people as products of "second choice", when failure of allopathic treatment occurs, which is focused especially on suppressing symptoms of illness, but it ignores health of the human body as whole. That's why are herbal products often alternative for therapy of chronic diseases. The base of this work is extensive literary research and results of laboratory measurings. Literary part of this work includes description of botanical classification of rose plants. There is stated basic characteristic of individual rose species and their morphological features. In following chapters is composed overview of effective substances in rose fruits and their effect on human health. In practical part of this work are included results of laboratory tests for determining ascorbic acid content for chosen samples of rose species and it also includes results of weighing and measuring of fruit samples of chosen rose species. There are also stated chosen rose species and shortly their origin and description, in the beginning of practical part. For practical part were chosen samples of species. Results of practical part are compiled into statistic tables and graphs and it confirms high content of ascorbic acid in rose fruits. This content is in range of cca 300 - 900 mg.100 g-1. Due to growing interest in alternative treatment options and "clean" natural product, it can be assumed, that many plants of Rosaceae family will keep its place in treatment practice. Those plants will be used not only for treatment of acute and chronic diseases, but also for cosmetic products production, thanks to its large effects and process options.

Flexibilisation of work
Matula, Radek ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee) ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor)
This work discusses the subject of work flexibilisation, its different forms and its main impacts on the labour markets nature. From a theoretical point of view I try to examined technological and institutional changes, which facilitate development of atypical forms of labour contracts such as part- time, temporary and irregular work. In the following section of this work the main structural changes of economy, especially in their impact on labour, are tracked. Not only the subject of globalisation or transition to postindustrial economy are being paid atttention to in this work, but also institutional changes of post-communist countries, especially the Czech republic, and their institutional "path dependency" are presented here. Using data of ISSP project I have evaluated the current range of different forms of work flexibility. The main conclusion from this analysis refers to previous idea of low level of work flexibility in the Czech republic. This fact can be explained by prevailling concept of standard, full time work in this country and weak pressures leading to flexibilisation of labour market. Even if the range of work flexibility is negligable in the Czech republic, last section of the work is dedicated to evaluation of particular european model of work flexibility called flexicurity and its...

Incorporation of new employees into organization - plan of orientation system
Vybíralová, Lenka ; Riegel, Karel (referee) ; Rymeš, Milan (advisor)
The subject of the submitted thesis is the area of workers adaptation within the organization. Theoretical part is devoted to the basic overview of the chosen topic - it defines factors of both, the subjective and the objective nature (adaptation to the demands of work position, adaptation to the environment, adaptation to the organization's culture and policy, social adaptation), which affect the adaptation process. It also puts the stress on the meaning and the roles of people involved in the adaptation of workers or on the methods of the work analysis and the professiogram making, which is a valuable source of information in the adaptation programmes development. The thesis doesn't even miss out the potential risks and problems, one can come across while the adaptation process. The practical part of the topic provides an illustrative example of the use of a research project focused on the optimal design of an adaptation programme. The thesis offers a practical illustration of a logical sequence of partial steps used in an adaptation process making. For further comprehension of the chosen topic, findings from the foreign research studies are also amended.

Miniaturizovaný řasový biotest
Lukavský, Jaromír
Growth algal bioassay is based on long-term cultivation of a testing alga with tested substance in nutrient solution, or in a sample from nature. The bioassay is at least 3 generations and also chronic affects or influence of repruction process can be so detected. The yield of biomass of testing alga in a sample from nature represent the maximal biomass which could be expected in nature without limitation with light, temperature, CO2 and predation.Miniaturized bioassay is exploating cultivation of algae in wells of an immunological plate in volumes of 0.2 ml. In a plate 9x13 cm, there are 96 wells which enables us to expose 10 samples every in 6 replicates, 2x25 plates in a cultivation unit of size of a common table has capacity of 3 000 miniaturized cultures. Their filling, inoculation and evaluation can be facilitated with a great spectrum of tools and equipments for immunological assays.

Probiotics and prebiotics in the
Šrámková, Kateřina ; Rambousková, Jolana (advisor)
Words probiotics and prebiotics ( derived from the Greek " Bios " meaning life ) was recently tem of unknown. Today, however, regards the concepts increasingly often as professionals and the general public. Probiotics and prebiotics They have a wide scope and their use in medicine grows . Their great advantage is that the so-called " substances in the body own " , so they are a natural part of a healthy human organism. Recently, more and more attention is paid to physiological intestinal microflora. The effort is primarily the influence of the optimal composition. The first attempts to date back to the early 20th century, when the 1908 Nobel Nobel Russian scientist Ilya Mechnikov published a theory that consumption of fermented dairy foods containing lactobacilli , contributes to longevity . The term " probiotic " was first used in 1965 , as the opposite of the term " antibiotic " . What is the effect of the probiotic bacteria ? Benefits can be found in large numbers. Generally, the Probiotics promote the growth of physiological intestinal microflora * flora and prevent the growth of pathogenic organisms . In so učasné underway a number of clinical studies , investigating the possibility of therapeutic use of probiotics in clinical practice. Along with prebiotics can be successfully used them in the...
