The issue of virtual teams

The aim of this diploma thesis is the introduction of teamwork and virtual teams. The theoretical part of this work describes the birth of teamwork, its definition, properties, advantages and disadvantages. Next part of diploma thesis is dedicated to the virtual team. It describes the difference among virtual and traditional team, definition and characteristics of virtual team as well as tools that are used in virtual team. The second, practical, unit is focused on virtual teams at universities in the Czech republic. The benefit of this work is the methodology of team work, which should help university virtual teams to easier collaboration, to work efficiently and to create the quality results of teamwork.
Leadership of Virtual Teams

This thesis contemplates virtual teams, in particular the role of a leader in them. In the theoretical part of the thesis I explore and describe specific characteristics of virtual teams that distinguish them from the traditional teamwork paradigm, benefits and risks stemming from their use in the business world and policies and principles of leadership of different types of virtual teams that help achieve their maximum efficiency. In the practical portion of the thesis I demonstrate the negative effects of neglecting those principles by studying an example of a real, failed virtual team.
The selection of software for cooperation support within a group of self-employed individuals

This bachelor thesis explores the selection of appropriate software solutions for co-ordination of activities within the group of self-employed individuals. The aim is to find and recommend the ideal solution which will be beneficial in terms of communication and data sharing under the predetermined conditions. The first part of thesis deals with the theoretical framework and is focused on the explanation of terminology and the description of basic methodological principles. This part of works is based on secondary literary and internet sources. The description of relations and activities within the group is followed by the analysis of the current state of communication and data management. Subsequently, the deficiencies of the system are examined and on the basis of these findings, the specific functional requirements and technical parameters of the new system are established. The next part of the thesis includes the comparison of chosen software tools according to the specific requirements and the description of the functionality of these tools. The compared applications are web-based file hosting services, then the specific Google Apps group and finally a cloud computing software IceWarp Mail Server (free access within the group). At the conclusion of bachelor thesis is evaluation and comparison an assessment applications and recommended the most suitable of it. The benefit of this work is comparison SaaS model applications suitable for collaboration, presentation of their functionality and selection a particular solution suitable of the self-employed group, by extension any group with similar needs and requirements.
Virtual Teams

This thesis explores issues of virtual teams. This research is running on premise of the University. The aim of this paper is to discover psychological aspects and specifics of University's virtual teams. Also, it should ascertain difference between common team cooperation and Managerial Game's team cooperation. The Managerial Game is some lesson which it has all preconditions for virtual team formation. In theoretical part, I am focused on theory about virtual organizations and virtual teams. In practical part, I am researching aims realization using by questionnaires and moderated interviews.
Use of social networking sites to support virtual teamwork in organization

The thesis is focused on utilization of social networking sites as a tool for virtual team collaboration support. The first goal is to identify critical success factors of virtual teamwork, which are currently not supported by groupware tools, based on description of virtual team characteristics and processes. Identified critical success factors represent the basis for the completion of next goal, which is to describe aspects of social networking sites, which are able to support the identified critical success factors. That leads to the main goal of the thesis, which consists of two main parts. First part is the analysis of social networking sites aspects influence on virtual teamwork critical success factors. The second part is the practical solution of utilization of social networking sites for virtual teamwork support. Final solution includes all social networking sites implementation phases starting from choosing the product, implementation process and ending with setting of team processes and utilization principles. Social networking sites aspects description is based on current enterprise information systems trends and the final solution results from the analysis and synthesis of findings from both previous thesis parts. The main contribution of the thesis is the solution of social networking sites utilization inside the organization and providing of practical instructions for implementation of social networking sites in order to support virtual teamwork.
Comparison of electronic social networks and social groups

The Bachelor thesis focuses on research of social groups and electronic social networks. I study their characteristics, classification and specifics. I concentrate on difference between them and then I try to compare them. I focus on possibilities of utilization of social groups and social networks, their influence and potential of their application. I based on professional literature from sociology, researches oriented on social networks and my own practical experience with social networks.
Scientific Research Capacity and Innovation in the EU - Virtuality

In today's globalizing world high-quality research and development is becoming an even more significant requirement for a competitive country. Modern communication technologies open up new possibilities of a simpler, cheaper and more effective long-distance cooperation between researchers. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide insight into the current state of scientific research in the EU and determine, how the new communication technologies are used on the level of the EU and its member states. Virtuality can be understood as any type of communication mediated by computers over information networks. The first chapter presents general characteristics of scientific research and shows how virtuality influences it. The second chapter describes the development of scientific research, current trends, institutions and programs in the EU and analyses the application of virtuality in scientific research in the EU. Similarly, the last chapter focuses on the state of virtuality and scientific research , but on the level of national states, specifically the Czech Republic.
Principles of team work and groundwork of its usage

A research of effectiveness of team work in a concrete company, that acts in the sphere of the information technology, is an object of my diploma paper. To take the view about the team work in the company it was necessary to perform an analyse of the team work. I confronted results of the analyse with the real position in the team. An evaluation of conditions in the monitored team and a proposition of pertinent recommendation to increase the effectiveness of team work is an inseparable part of my diploma paper.
Cooperation and leading of multicultural teams

It focuses namely on identifying ohow multicultural environment influences work in teams as well as on investigation how cooperation in multicultural teams can be enhanced. Virtual Team Management

Diplomová práce se zabývá vedením virtuálního týmu. Na základě teoretických poznatků byl proveden výzkum v jednom z oddělení konkrétní firmy působící v oblasti internetu, které využívá externích spolupracovníků. Byl porovnáván způsob vedení brigádníků a externistů a zároveň vyhodnocovány dopady změn po nástupu nového vedoucího brigádníků a externistů. Dle výsledků výzkumu byly pak navrženy další postupy pro spolupráci s brigádníky a externisty.
