Didactic analysis and proposal for teaching selected career education topics within the framework " Lessons in working" and civics at higher secondary schools

The topic of this diploma thesis is career education within the cross-cutting theme of Lesson in working and its didactic treatment in teaching at secondary vocational schools. This diploma thesis introduces an analysis of the concept of teaching career education in selected foreign countries within the curriculum documents and teaching materials available in the Czech territory. The chapters of the theoretical part deal with the relationship between secondary vocational education and the labour market, the concept of career education and counselling, comparison with foreign countries and comparison of teaching materials; last but not least, it also includes an introduction to psychological and social factors influencing career choice. The whole work flows into a didactic analysis where I elaborate the teaching of career education according to the above mentioned findings. In the first part of the didactic proposal I work mainly with the development of career competences and the discovery of career direction. The second part of the didactic proposal focuses on students' self-presentation. Formative Assessment of EFL students' Speaking Skills in an upper-secondary vocational classroom

The thesis Formative Assessment of EFL students' Speaking Skills in an upper-secondary vocational classroom describes attitudes to assessment of three English language teachers at a Czech business academy from the perspective of formative assessment just before the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. The case study aims to show what happens behind the classroom door by providing a deep insight into the assessment practices of EFL learning at a Czech secondary vocational school. The theoretical part defines formative assessment as feedback which brings the learner valuable information concerning the knowledge and skills in the process of learning when it is still possible to work on improving the output; it explores different formative strategies in the context of communicative approach to EFL learning, namely Speaking Skills development. The empirical part builds on the qualitative data collection which consisted of several phases and methods: firstly, school documents were analysed to understand the assessment processes in general, followed by the semi-structured individual interviews with a headmistress and three EFL teachers. Human Protection in Emergencies as a Theme for Vocational School Students

TITLE: Human Protection in Emergencies as a part of Health Education AUTHOR: Iva Metelková DEPARTMENT: Department of Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Eva Marádová, CSc. ABSTRACT Human Protection in Emergency (HPE) is the subject of this theoretical research thesis. The theoretical part focuses on a set of human protection in emergency and military training in the broader historical context but also legislative context. Space is devoted to the unambiguous definition of related terms. Furthermore the course curriculum reform with emphasis on the level of secondary vocational education. The practical part is focused on the evaluation of the research that was conducted among the students of first and second years of nonscience oriented secondary vocational schools. Data for the research was obtained by questionnaire survey and analyzed the statistical method. The work also includes a draft concept for the implementation of the teaching of human protection in emergencies. The objective of this proposal is to ensure access to information concerning the HPE for students but also for teachers and that contribute to the formation of desirable patterns of behavior for participation in the incident. Aktuální politická témata ve výuce občanského vzdělávacího základu na středních odborných školách

This diploma thesis focuses on the process of civic and political socialization of adolescents in the context of the reflexion of current political topics in the lessons of civic educational basis on secondary technical schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the explanation of basic terms regarding the chosen topic. It is then followed by an analysis of curricular documents of secondary technical education in the Czech Republic on the national level, from the point of view of the possibilities of the inclusion of current political topics into the teaching lessons. After the theoretical consolidation of the topic, a practical part of the thesis follows, which consists of a case study. This study aims to describe (with the help of the methods of mixed research) the reflexion of current political topics in the Civics lessons on a chosen secondary technical school, for example regarding the teaching methods, also the frequency and intensity of including the topics into the lessons, or expression of personal opinions of the teachers on current political topics. Through the realisation and evaluation of a questionnaire survey is at first found out the perception of teaching about current political topics, as the pupils of the chosen secondary technical school perceive it. Then is through the realisation of half-structured interviews with the teachers and the following analysis in the whole context found out also their position towards teaching about these topics. The ending part of the thesis then includes the conclusion of all important and interesting findings the study brought, evaluation of reaching the goals which were set for the research, recommendation for the pedagogical praxis and also a reflexion on the use of the findings on an own future praxis.
Development of the educational and professional structure of pupils and students in secondary and tertiary vocational education in the Czech Republic and in regions of the Czech Republic and the position of young people in the labor market compared to the situation in the European Union - 2016/17

The publication informs about the development of the educational structure of secondary education through the development of the numbers and shares of newly admitted pupils in 1st grade (for multi-year grammar schools in years corresponding to 1st year of secondary school) and on the development of the number of admitted pupils in further education and higher vocational education, by region. The material also provides data on the development of the branch structure of secondary and higher education broken down by group of branches, incl. graphs and tables for the years 2011 to 2016.
