First grade of state graduation reflection

The subject of this work is a reflection on the newly introduced state graduation and its results in the first year of its launch. The work aims to show the positive and negative impacts brought by the state graduation, particularly in relation to the claims put on the school management. The theoretical part focuses on introducing a new form of school-leaving examination and its proclaimed goals, then analyzing the results achieved by the pupils and also changes which authors of state graduation approached the experience with its first year. It is mainly based on published articles and analyzes of general pedagogical and professional media, from professional publications, the official website of The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS, MŠMT in Czech) and CERMAT (Centre on Measurement in Education). The practical part is focused on the result analysis of the questionnaire survey for directors of high schools and colleges that was supposed to map out how the new concept of graduation affected their work. Problematic Types of Tasks in the Listening Comprehension Part of the Didactic Test of the State Secondary School-leaving Examination in French Language

The topic of this thesis are problematic types of test items in the listening sub test of the didactic test of common part of Maturita school - leaving exam in French language. Introductory chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the description of Maturita school-leaving exam, its origin and contemporary model. The following chapters deal with characteristics of the didactic test, its parts and individual test items. These chapters also provide a description of the examined sample, concise characteristics of grammar schools (Gymnasiums) where the research was conducted, and introduces the analytical tools which were used when examining the listening subtest in French language. On the basis of students' answers the most difficult test items of the sub test were pinpointed. The bachelor thesis is focused on the implementation of a compulsory math exam in mathematics at secondary schools in the Czech republic. The thesis describes the implementation of compulsory math examinations in mathematics as a educational policy instrument. The creators and recipients of this decision are revealed through the analysis of actors. The research is focused on the perspective of the head masters and mathematics teachers. This work describes the anchoring of head masters and teachers in the educational policy in the Czech Republic. Using semi-structured interviews the thesis discovers the beliefs and analyzes the perceptions and disagreements between actors. The research is based on the questioning of actors from different types of secondary schools.
Analytical assessment of grammar school pupil's ESL writings

The theoretical part of this diploma thesis provides a broader academic context for the research presented in the theoretical part and is concerned with the specifics of the writing assessment. It proposes reasons why writing should be assessed, describes methods of assessment and scoring, and also examines writing tests. At the end of the theoretical part, the presumed controlling idea, called the washback effect, which significantly influenced the course of the research in the practical part of the thesis, is presented. The practical part is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the types of scoring ESL grammar school teachers employ for assessing grammar school pupils. The aim was to discover how many of them use analytical and/or multiple-trait scoring. It was revealed that analytical scoring the most used means of assessment. Holistic scoring was next, followed by multiple-trait and lastly primary-trait scoring. Other scoring procedures are rarely employed. The second part is a case study of assessment criteria of selected teachers which compares these criteria against those used in Cambridge English: Preliminary examination and the Czech state secondary school-leaving exam. The figure of Judas Iscariot through the prism of the media and the public in the 21st century in the context of state leaving exam and contemporary pop culture

The following thesis, The Judas Iscariot figure, as seen by media and the public, in the 21st century in the context of the state graduation exam and contemporary pop culture, deals with the biblical figure who has betrayed Jesus Christ. The apostle, whose name has become a synonym for betrayal, was mentioned in one of the questions of the didactical test regarding Czech language and literature in the state graduation exam in the Czech Republic in 2015. The pupils were supposed to recognize Judas with help of his cognomen and other hints. Many students have complained about this task, saying that it was too difficult, while others have claimed that the question was not related to the subject. The complaint became an issue frequented in all the significant media and heavily discussed in society. The first chapters of the thesis describe the official requirements for the state graduation exam and the study plans for secondary schools, where the Bible is listed. The following chapters highlight and discuss the media coverage of the affair in the printed and online media, as well as in the radio and TV stations. Chemical Education in Scotland - teaching of chemistry at high schools and chemistry teachers education

The Czech Republic and Scotland rank similarly in international pupil's performance tests. However, education systems of these countries differ greatly. This research has three main focus areas: 1) general aspects of Scottish education including teaching methods, school and real life connections in teaching, and school leaver's destinations 2) studying Chemistry and teaching at university 3) Chemistry in the senior phase of secondary education and the change of topics and exam paper brought in with the new Curriculum for Excellence. Comparative analysis of syllabi, exam papers, government publications and OECD reports was used and personal experience from an exchange study programme at a Scottish university and a work placement at a secondary school in England were utilized. The Higher exam paper was translated and Czech secondary students sat the test Furthermore, teacher trainees and Chemistry teachers were asked to evaluate the test. Results show that Czech students are taught different things and are accustomed to different ways of being tested, ones that are more focused on knowledge and less on critical thinking. Attitudes toward state graduation 2013

The aim of this work is to find out the attitudes to the state graduation. The paper reacts to recent changes - The amendments to the Education Act (with effect from 1st January 2013) and the Decree on detailed conditions for termination of education in the secondary schools with state graduation (with effect from 9th November 2012). The theoretical part focuses on the current exploring the phenomenon of the state graduation, provides an analysis of the management, the changes of its logistic model for 2013 and the direct impact on the management and the teaching staff of the secondary school. The aim of the practical part of the work is to analyze the attitudes of teachers who practically come into contact with the phenomenon of the state level. A questionnaire survey was used as the scientific method. The work contributes to the knowledge of both theory and practice of the state graduation exam mainly from the perspective of secondary (headmasters and their deputies) and lower management (secondary school teachers acquiring function of the evaluators, authorities, school graduation commissioners and chairmen of the graduation committees).
