Philosophical possibilities of question of personal identity
Endrle, Jaroslav ; Palkoska, Jan (advisor) ; Hill, James (referee)
(in English): The topic of this thesis is the problem of personal identity. Its aim is to develop alternative approach to this question. To achieve this, the following course is choosen. Firstly, three most important assumptions are exposed. These assumptions steer debate about this topic in analytic philosophy and are regarded as main cause of its difficulties. These suppositions are - the ontological conception of identity, logical dissociability of mind and body and the method of thought experiment. Essential part of following thesis can be taken as proposal of technique that can overcome these assumptions and problems they cause. This attempt begins at the end of first part with development of general criticism of ontological conception of identity and with presentation of epistemic conception of identity. The second and crucial part deals with the theory of conceptual system. This theory provides a basis for alternative approach to question of personal identity. It will block the logical dissociability of criterions of personal identity - the dissociability of mind/consciousness and living body. It will also serve as fundament for epistemic conception of identity. Finaly, it is used for tracing the origin of concept "person". It will be shown that the concept of person descends from the...
Jewish Condition as Image of Marginalization
Pavlíková, Kristina ; Jamek, Václav (advisor) ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (referee)
The theme of this bachelor thesis is the life and literary work of Jacques de Lacretelle, a French literature figure of the 20th century. Its aim is to expound his extensive work which is nowadays almost forgotten. The thesis focuses mainly on Lacretelle's vision of the Jews as described in his two novels- Silbermann and The return of Silbermann. Based on the detailed analysis the thesis tries to understand the reasons of choosing the Jewish motif for Lacretelle's work and personal connotations in it. Lacretelle's life and work is studied in comparison with a Czech author called Ladislav Fuks. We shortly introduce this writer, main events of his life connected with his literary work and his unique style of writing based on the method of substitute literary themes. This approach is subsequently applied on Lacretelle's writings and gives us a new point of view of them. Also we try to compare the series about Silbermann with Fuks's short-story anthology called Mí černovlasí bratři. At the end we draw a comparison between Lacretelle and Fuks and try to discover resemblances in their lives and works. This enables to understand their motives to choose the Jews as the main characters of their writings, probably connected mainly to their feeling of non-acceptance caused by their homosexuality. Fichte's Transcendental Approximation to Being 1801-02
Ip, Long Nin Leonard ; Schnell, Alexander (advisor) ; Goddard, Jean-Christophe (referee)
of thesis titled: Fichte's Transcendental Approach to Being 1801-02 submitted by Leonard Ip for the degree of Master of Arts in Philosophie in the programme Erasmus Mundus Master EuroPhilosophie, July 2021 This paper attempts to reconstruct the development of the problem of being within the framework of Fichte's Wissenschaftslehre after 1800 in its initial approach. Textually, it deals mainly with the Darstellung der Wissenschaftslehre from 1801/02. This text is considered the main document with which Fichte's so-called "late philosophy" begins after the first "Jena" period of his philosophising. The main result of the reconstruction presented is the demonstration of a "positive" concept of being, which goes beyond the concept of being explicitly determined as "negative" in Fichte's Jena Wissenschaftslehre and is defined in the Darstellung as "absolute being". In order to show that the positive concept of being is both demanded and legitimised on the basis of the Wissenschaftslehre as transcendental idealism, the reconstruction of this concept is carried out through an analysis of the first part of the Darstellung, i.e. the theory of absolute knowledge. The three chapters of this thesis carry out this analysis in three steps: in the first chapter, the systematic demand for absolute being is...
An Image of War in Georges Bataille's Conceptions
Zítko, Jakub ; Fulka, Josef (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
The war represents one of the most conspicuous manifestations of the overabundance of energy that Georges Bataille has been theorizing as part of his theory of general economics. On the background of this facts, work seeks to define war as an inherently non-utilitarian expenditure of energy with which the human must necessarily contend. Next, the work attempts to question the common denominators of the excessive moments that war undoubtedly belongs to, and to point out their importance in philosophy of Bataille. The sovereignty that accompanies such moments will be further themed, bearing in mind the specificity that the author devotes to it, which breaks out of dialectical necessity. Keywords: Georges Bataille, sovereignty, accursed share, heterogeneity, self-consciousness, critique of utilitarity, war
The influence of the family educational style on the child's self-affirmation development.
Machová, Irena ; Švandová, Martina (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Daniela (referee)
This thesis deals with the influence of family educational styles on sound child's selfconception development. Its goal is to describe and search the selfconception phenomenon as one of the key categories of a human personality in relation to a family educational style effect. In the theoretical part there is a survey of substantial information concerning the selfhood-psychology and the family psychology. Particularly it deals with selfconception description and all its components and aspects and it gives us a systemic view of a family and its educational styles. The empirical part of the thesis brings the results of a quality research that was carried out as narrative interviews. Their categorial analysis has shown that sound selfconception is influenced not only by the family educational style, but also by other crucial facts. Mainly it is the question of an individual's resilience which can act protectively in relation to prospective negative family education influence. In the empirical part of the thesis there are also mentioned other possible perspectives of extending the current research.

An Enquiry Concerning the Phenomenon of Maidan Through the Application of the Hegelian Lordship and Bondage Theory
Dovhoruk, Ivanna ; Karfíková, Lenka (advisor) ; Matějčková, Tereza (referee)
This thesis is concerned with the question how can be the phenomenon of Maidan (Майдан) understood. Maidan here is primarly seen as an event in which people risked their lives. The first chapter deals with eyewitness testimonies of demonstrators in the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity (Революція Гідності), who were present in the directly life-threatening places (Hrushevsky-st, Institutska-st). In the second chapter Hegel's concept of the certification by death (die Bewährung durch den Tod) is inquired, as present in a lordship and bondage theory (Herrschaft und Knechtschaft) in the Phenomenology of Spirit (Phänomenologie des Geistes). In the third chapter, through the presentation of the author's own speculative theory of the Gates, we will try to prove that life can be deployed in two ways, from a position of humility and a position of pride. Within proving this statement we differentiate Hegelian concept of certification by death using Augustine's notion of pride (superbia). At the end of the inquiry we will try to answer the initial quastion, what Maidan is in light of the act of deployment of life.
The Ground of the World: A Marginal Problem in Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit
Matějčková, Tereza ; Karásek, Jindřich (advisor) ; Gutschmidt, Holger (referee) ; Kuneš, Jan (referee)
Is there a world in G. W. F. Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit? This is the central question my doctoral thesis aims to address. Both scholars and philosophers alike tend to consider Hegel a thinker who, having formulated the philosophy of absolute spirit, has surrendered the world. Despite this suspicion, the consciousness finds itself at nearly every level of Hegel's oeuvre in a place called "the world". At every stage, the world changes its shape - along with the consciousness - but its function seems to remain the same. The world is a conception of totality; thus, the world is an object of the consciousness that, by definition, surpasses the consciousness and thus reveals its limits. This moment of a "worldly" estrangement is especially pronounced as the consciousness sets itself into action. One of the most recurring motives in Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit is the inability of the consciousness to realize its intentions as planned. The consciousness fails to recognize itself in the deed, and thus devises strategies to distance itself from the deed. In my interpretation, this testifies that the deed is the door to the world, and obviously this world is not one that would be in the power of the consciousness. Instead, it is the consciousness that needs to subordinate itself to the deed...
