The possibilities of integrating people with Down syndrome into society

The thesis deals with the possibilities of integration of people with Down syndrome into society in the context of the degree of attainability of their certain skills. It summarizes the current findings in various areas of life both in the Czech Republic and abroad, and presents important findings from individual areas and the extent of their accessibility for independent living. It outlines specific abilities and skills that can be easily acquired by people with Down syndrome compared to those who are more challenging or even impossible.
Proposal for educational program for children with visual impairment of pre-school age focused on the development of autonomy, self-sufficient and basic hygiene habits

The thesis deals with the topics of independence, self-care and hygiene habits of visually impaired children of preschool age. The aim is to search for and analyse theoretical knowledge and subsequently create a proposal for educational program for kindergarten teachers who have a child with a visual impairment in their classroom. A qualitative method (observation, document analysis, interview) was chosen to meet the objectives. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and practical one. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with the concept of visual impairment, the most common visual defects in children, the development of the child and the child care possibilities regarding visually impaired children. In the second chapter, preschool education is specified in more detail, including legislative and curricular documents. The third chapter deals with the theoretical basis for the practical part of the work, namely independence, self-care and hygiene habits of children with visual impairment. The practical part consists of a proposal for educational program which is divided into three areas: hygiene habits and skills, habits and skills associated with dressing and undressing and habits and skills associated with dining. Each of them has several subchapters, which include a list of activities that can be implemented by kindergarten teachers during the education of a visually impaired child.
Benefits of nursery school for Children with autism spectrum disorder in sel-care

The bachelor thesis concerns benefits of a nursery school for children with autistic spectrum disorder with focus on development of self-care. The thesis concentrates on characteristics of autistic spectrum disorders and it's interconnection with practical aspects of developing self-care skills in a nursery school. Individual chapters describe the definition, diagnostics and related triad of problem areas, the spectrum of individual autistic disorders and the most frequently used methods and strategies of training and education of childrenwith autistic spectrum disorders. The second part of the thesis provides space for individual areas of self-care, cultivated in the nursery school. Individual chapters demonstrate detailed descriptions of practising self-care habits and skills, applied in daily routines of the nursery school. The thesis bases on published works in the area of autistic spectrum, as well as on practical experience of the author, obtained in several years of practice as a teacher in a special class for children with autistic spectrum disorders in a nursery school. Maturity to kindergarten entrance

The purpose of this study is to analyse the level of maturity of children older than two years in the context of their potential integration in the public preschool education system before they reach the age of three years. The first chapter discusses the opinion of the EU Council of the preschool education, its ambition to promote the institutional care in line with the equal opportunities for men and women policy, and the situation in EU member states as regards meeting the 2002 Barcelona goals. The second chapter describes the current legislative and institutional framework in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the applicable legislation, namely the Parental Subsidy Act as amended, and the existing framework of the institutional care in question. The key focus of the third chapter is on children and their needs. The third chapter elaborates on various factors influencing their development such as family situation, age and other individual particularities. The last chapter of the theoretical part is on maturity of a child younger than three years from the point of view of the developmental psychology. Influence of bariatric surgery on the physical and mental condition of the patient

INTRODUCTION TO THE ISSUE: Obesity together with possible occurrence of many difficulties carries with it negative effect on physical and mental health. Many patients with severe obesity (class 3) cannot do physical activities or usual daily activities. These patients suffer from feelings of inferiority, decreased self-esteem and other mental issues. It could be classified as a vicious cycle for patients, but the bariatric surgery offers a way out. A gastric bypass is one of the bariatric procedures which is very helpful to reduce the weight of the patients who belongs into class 3 obesity. OBJECTIVES, METHODOLOGY: The main goal of this study was to find out if applying the gastric bypass to patients has positive or negative effect for their obesity level, quality of life, physical and mental state. The research sample was consisted of patients who were about to undergo gastric bypass. The patient's weight, BMI and body fat ratio were monitored to obtain data related to the assessment of the severity of obesity. 1) INTRODUCTION: Obesity is a global problem and its the prevalence is constantly rising. Overweight and obesity are key risk factors for many diseases. Obese patients are a greater economic burden for the state, they often rely on the help of others. The goal of obesity treatment is to reduce weight and then keep it within the recommended range. In an obese patient, it is not always just about the actual weight loss, but also about treating the associated diseases caused by obesity. Bariatric surgery allows patients to lose weight in a relatively short period of time and has a very positive effect on associated diseases. 2) OBJECTIVE: The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the physical and mental condition before and after gastric bypass and to determine whether this surgery has a positive or negative effect on the physical and mental condition of the patient. The practice and the development of social skills, self-sufficiency and self-service of the people with combined disabilities through the social rehabilitation

The main idea and mission of this bachelor thesis is to describe and clarify the ways of the training and development of the social skills, self-sufficiency and self-care of the people with combined disability. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify the needs of the particular individuals with the combined disability in the area of the self-sufficiency and self-care. Subsequently, to describe and to test in practice the possibilities of the training of the selected skills and to evaluate their impact on the daily life of the people with the combined disability. The goal was fulfilled by using of the casuistry that is included in the practical part of this thesis. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and contains several chapters. The first chapter deals with the history of the care for the people with the health disability. The second chapter deals with the health handicap and its aetiology. The following chapters focus on the comprehensive system of the rehabilitation, social services from the law perspective, social rehabilitation or target group of the individuals. The next chapters describe the transition from the childhood of the people with the combined disability to the adulthood, adulthood and deal with the social skills, self-sufficiency and self-care. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the quality of life of the people with the handicap. The practical part of the thesis is elaborated in the form of the qualitative investigation. In this part of the thesis there are described the used methods, i.e. the method of the participating observation, analysis of the documentation, direct education and casuistry. The thesis continues with the casuistry of the people with combined disability, their training and progress towards the fulfilling of the planned goal. It is followed by the discussion and conclusion of the bachelor thesis. In my opinion, the social rehabilitation is in the great development, it is increasingly used by more and more users and it progressively gets into the general awareness.
Self care as a part of socialization by people with Down syndrome

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to describe abilities of self-care of people with Down syndrome and analyze its development. On the basis of the stated objective there are 3 research questions. The qualitative research techniques were used to achieve the goal of the bachelor thesis. Data for the case studies, which are in the practical part, were acquired through the semistructured interviews. Clients and educators who gave the information stay in Domov Kopretina Černovice. The theoretical part deals with Down syndrome, forms of Down syndrome, diagnostics, characteristic symptoms, the most frequent associated illneses and life of people with Down syndrome. Next chapter deals with definition of mental disabilities and socialization, especially self-care. The objective, research questions and methods of collecting qualitative research data is defined in the practical part. The practical part includes 3 case studies of clients from Domov Kopretina Černovice. Case studies have found that people with Down syndrome have the biggest problems in self-care with cooking and taking care of their health.
