Problem of Understanding at Philosophy by H. G. Gadamer

The bachelor thesis deals with the problem of understanding in the philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer, a 20th century German philosopher. The aim of this thesis was to explain the problem of understanding and to remind how understanding is important in all areas of human activity. The first part explains what hermeneutics is, its transition from regional to general hermeneutics, and the transition from epistemological to ontological hermeneutics. The second part introduces the various philosophers who are involved in hermeneutics, namely Friedrich Schleiermacher, Wilhelm Dilthey, Martin Heidegger, Paul Ricoeur and Hans-Georg Gadamer. The bachelor thesis draws most heavily on the works of these authors. The third part discusses the basic themes of hermeneutics with regard to the philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer. The last part explains the concept of historical consciousness and its influence on understanding oneself in dialogue. It also discusses the principle of the merging of horizons and the importance of conversations.

Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer

Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer The focus of the present study is mainly on the discussion of the process of understanding and emergence of meaning. Using the example of Gadamer's hermeneutics it becomes clear what are the limits of positive attempt to express conditions of understanding within the context of the philosophy of finitude. In spite of its undeniable benefits, hermeneutic understanding shows itself to be vulnerable towards ideology and it could be seen as suspected of hidden normativity thanks to its emphasis on agreement and coherency. Derrida's deconstruction on the other hand shows the dynamics of emergence of meaning in language, it emphasizes plurality and ambiguity in contrast towards totalizing unicity and agreement; however, due to this approach, it is unable to offer anything close to what we call the truth. In a parallel line of interpretation, philosophical- antropological approach of Ernst Cassirer standing in comparison with Heidegger's existential analytics of Dasein shows that already at the fundamental level in the process of establishment of terms and concepts and earlier our understanding is already determined to a certain extent. Master's thesis "Philosophy and community" looks into the origin of ancient greek term "polis" and inception of its citizen. It looks into it as specifical means of being of world and human. The correlation of polis and citizen is most apparent in philosophy of Plato. With an emphasis on his privilegy of spoken word over written one, he shows possible sources of philosophical hermeneutics. By understanding the situation, which leads to the decline of the reciprocal relationship between human and world, author would like to express that in Platos way of thinking are still unreflected possibilities of solution for the present day. Intention of this work is to contribute - by sketching and explication of the principles of political thinking - to the discussion - and not only to that of the political philosophy and political science.

This thesis studies different conceptions of knowledge as they were conceived by George Berkeley and Immanuel Kant. In the first chapter we concentrate on Berkeley's pragmatic interpretation of knowledge which is based on the localization of the non-predicative judgements into the inner structure of perception. As the result there is such knowledge which is by human being used to identification of conditions for the formation of particular combinations of ideas and also to their more or less exact prognosis. We concentrate also on Berkeley's attempt to avoid "ontological" or "absolute" interpretations of "traditional concepts of metaphysics" as ,substance', an absolute existence of non-egoistic matterial being etc. In the second chapter of this thesis we are trying to study in which way is the idea of knowledge being transformed, in case that the starting point for interpretation of knowledge is, according to Kant, descriptive analysis of synthetic judgements a priori, whose proposition is the synthesis of subject and predicate. We will show that Kant contributed to the new understanding of metaphysics as transcendental research possibility of knowledge, and how were thanks to that meanings and status of subject and object transformed. Looking for the Sense of Being as a Way of Daseinsanalytic Psychotherapy. Potential Contribution of Daseinsanalysis for Pedagogical Practice

The doctoral thesis Looking for the Sense of Being as a Way of Daseinsanalytic Psychotherapy with the subtitle Potential Contribution of Daseinsanalysis for Pedagogical Practice deals with possibilities of the daseinsanalytical preventive and treatment consultancy application in the environment of primary schools. The consultation programmes are based on Martin Heidegger's philosophy, phenomenology, hermeneutical explanation method and daseinsanalytical psychotherapy. The goal of the doctoral thesis is to introduce, in the field of philosophy of education, this new project focused on bullying and also to raise a question about the inspirational possibilities of the development of the current system of Teacher's university education. On geometry in fundamental ontology

The following text attempts to rethink the challenge of Edmund Husserl in his text On the Origin of Geometry. Interpretation of fundamental ontology developed by Martin Heidegger in Being and Time provides field on which it is possible to try to answer the question of the origin of geometry. It is conceived as a completely unique ontological possibility that nature is able to vouch for an explanation of the geometry.
