Archives and documentation of performance art: at the intersection between history and myth.

The PhD thesis deals with the role of archives in the contemporary artistic and curatorial practice, with an emphasis on the performance art. It also analyses the creation process, methodology and the contents of selected personal and institutional archives in both Czech and international contexts. The objective of the paper is to answer the following questions: In what way is the documentation and subsequent archiving of process-oriented forms of art performed? How is the history of the contemporary art formed and interpreted through these archives and with the help of the artistic and curatorial practice? To what extent are we able to reconstruct the history from records and performance documents that are only fragmented, thus making a reference to a real action? Do the archives leave some room for misinterpretation, creating a myth or personality cult through its system of classification of knowledge? How indeed is the performance art related to its own history; how is this history perceived by the performer alone; and how is it approached by the professional audience? The paper will also include the analysis of current state and possible solutions to the operation of the archive of the Faculty of Fine Arts, which is related to opening a dialogue among artists, theorists and institutions that might be interested in better accessibility of such an archive.

The recorder ensemble ´´Třeboňští pištci´´

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is Třeboňští pištci. Originally a children's recorder art ensemble which was founded in 1974 and is still performing. The thesis deals with the history and development of the art ensemble, the personalities who influenced it the most and it´s also about the ensemble instrumental composition. The thesis deals with the ensemble's concert and recording activities as well. Attached are photocopies of the ensemble members and their interviews.

Current church choirs in Prague

Bachelor thesis titled Current church choirs in Prague deals with the characterization and description of ten mixed choirs, aktive at major temples in Prague. The content of the chapters focuses on the history of the choirs, their location, organizational structure, repertoire, released CDs, atmosphere and cooperation within the choirs and parishes. Interviews with the choirmasters, a survey with the members of the choirs and other available materials are the sources of information for my thesis. The outcome of this work is to summarize and compare the obtained information.

The Influence of Political Systems and Ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague in the 20th Century

Název v anglickém jazyce: The Influence of Political Systems and Ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague in the 20th Century The subject of the Thesis is the influence of political systems and ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague. The period of research spans mainly from the theatre season 1923/1924, when Remislav Remislavský was appointed the post of ballet master and choreographer, to the season 1989/1990, when Vlastimil Harapes assumed the post of the ensemble's chief. Two main periods are underlined: the period of World War II and the subsequent period of the Communist Party government after 1948. Persons of interest are mainly the bosses of ballet company for example Jelizaveta Nikolská, Joe Jenčík, Saša Machov or Jiří Němeček st. and others, but also soloists, and the repertoire of the ballet corps. This thesis is a scope of the evolution of ballet of National theatre in concern of political changes in 20th century.

Individual acoustic monitoring of songbirds - case study on the tree pipit

In field behavioural and ecological studies, it is often necessary to identify specific individuals. In birds, colour rings are often used as individual marks. However, rings might be difficult to observe, especially in small species and dense habitats. Thus recently, individual acoustic monitoring is becoming more commonly used to study of birds. This method is based on the recognition of individuals and often on the difference between temporal and spectral parameters of their vocalizations. However, in passerine species with more complex song these acoustic characteristics may not be reliable. In my thesis I used an alternative approach for the individual acoustic monitoring, based on differences in syllable repertoires of individual Tree Pipit males (Anthus trivialis). So far I have not found any study that would use a similar approach with other migratory passerine species with more complex song. The main aim of my study was to test the possibility of using syllable repertoires for recognition of specific individuals and to determine if this method is more efficient than identification by colour banding. From four years of research on the Tree Pipits population in the selected location in Brdy I received acoustic data from 59 males that I subsequently analyzed in a bioacoustic program. The...

Children's Choirs of the Central Bohemian Region, Prague-East in Particula

The submitted diploma work deals with the history of children's choirs in Central Bohemia since 1989 until the present days. In some cases it takes us even further into history. In the theoretical part, it focuses on the history of children's choirs, their member composition, age distribution and the work of choirmasters. The exploratory part covers the whole area of the Central Bohemia region according to its districts. It gives information about children's choirs, their numbers at different schools, their grouping set on the basis of the types of schools where they function. There is a questionnaire attached to the diploma work in which the choirmasters give information concerning history and current situation in their choirs. The submitted questions are then analysed. The research data are subsequently presented both in the written and graphic forms and their interpretation is included into the theoretical part of the diploma work. Cäcilien-Verein in Prague Musical Life

ANOTATION: The thesis discusses the outstanding Prague music society Cäcilien-Verein. Primarily on the basis of the so far unstudied and partially also unknown source material concerning the relevant issue that is deposited in the Prague conservatoire archive, the thesis presents a survey of establishment, organizational structure and membership background of the institu- tion. The period cultural and social context deals with the repertoire of primarily artistic concerts of the ensemble, and, in general features, also with other types of colourful social events in which the group participated. A separate chapter is devoted to the biography of the group founder and manager, Anton Apt. The final part of the thesis presents the edition of Apt's draft of manuscript statutes for the association, as well as photographs of selected valuable archival documents.
