Novotná, Adéla ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (advisor) ; Odstrčilová, Klára (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the current trend of news channels emerging on social networks and targeting mainly the young generation. Digital creators use communication elements common for the online environment and for the communication of the young generation in the creation of this type of content. The thesis illustrates these specifics through a linguistic analysis of the posts of one of the representatives of these platforms, the Instagram profile Jsem v obraze by Johana Bázlerová. The aim of the research is to describe the significant linguistic phenomena that occur in this type of media content, taking into account the conditions of the online environment and social networks and their pressure on the attractiveness, speed and brevity of the message. The theoretical part of this thesis defines the specifics of new media, digitalization, Web 2.0 and the transformation of news content in the social networking environment. At the same time, it introduces the Jsem v obraze profile itself and its author, as well as other similar projects operating on social networks. The methodological part characterizes the methods used in the research. The linguistic analysis itself is based on the findings of the literature and provides concrete examples of the linguistic devices described in the posts...
Do the same sources mean the same or different information? The outputs of czech media about Covid-19 in the early stages of its spreading in Czech republic
Trubetská, Marie ; Trunečková, Ludmila (advisor) ; Šmíd, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the way in which the three most read printed and three most read online media reported on coronavirus in the beginning of its spread in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it monitors whether and to what extent the media outputs from these media on the four selected events coincided with the outputs on these events issued by the Czech Press Office (ČTK) and at the same time whether these media adhered to the principles of objectivity. In the theoretical part, the author analyzes media routines, journalistic ethics and other concepts such as moral panic or self-fulfilling prophecy, with which she also works in the practical part of the theses. For the purposes of the research, the author chose a content analysis and defined four research questions, which she answers through the results of this analysis. In total, she analyzes 149 media outputs and 101 outputs of the Czech Press Office. The conclusions of this work prove that the media used ČTK as a source in only 15 % of cases. Online media referred to it more often. 56 % of the media outlets were similar to the ČTK outlets only in the main announcement. Furthermore, the conclusions show that the principles of objectivity were more often violated by the print media, specifically in 60 % of cases. Contrary, online media...

Andree, Sabina ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with an analysis of the use of information from the social networking service Twitter in the process of journalistic work. I study the employment of information from Twitter in news during the government crisis in May 2017. For the analysis, I chose three online news sites: Aktuálně.cz, iDnes.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The goal of this thesis is to find out to what extent and in which way was the information from Twitter involved in the coverage of the government crisis in the chosen news sites. Another goal is to analyse the selection of sources from Twitter. The research follows a method of quantitative content analysis, which allows us to describe an exact extent of the involvement of information from the social network in the analyzed content. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis characterizes the network digital media and describes the processes of digital mediamorphosis and convergence, which are related to the rise of the so-called new media. The theoretical part then introduces the social network site Twitter, its establishment and principles of its functioning, with a special focus on the role of Twitter as a source of journalistic work. Besides the analysis itself, the practical part also contains an introduction of the research method, i.e. the quantitative...
Importance of video content on Czech news sites
Drechslerová, Terezie ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The importance of video content in Czech internet news has been steadily rising for almost two decades, media houses are creating and expanding separate video-making departments and investing in equipment needed for their creations. News websites place considerable emphasis on the production of their own audiovisual content, which has become so common that the reader has come to expect it. The work brings a comprehensive description and evaluation of the video content of three major Czech news sites: iDnes.cz, Novinky.cz and Aktuálně.cz. It describes the processes, techniques and tools used in video journalism and gives an overview of the video production of these three news sites and insight into the relevance of video for Czech online news. The practical part draws on a case study of the selected websites, which focuses on the individual editorial environment and their common practice. It includes a quantitative content analysis that answers the research question: "What is the current form of video content on news sites iDnes.cz, Novinky.cz and Aktuálně.cz?" The analysis is accompanied by interviews with experts from the field and my own experience. In my interviews, I asked questions, related to the theoretical part of this work, about the inner workings of editorial teams, their team strategy and source...

The bachelor's thesis deals with online daily news journal Echo24. This web site has been quite newly created. The work focuses on interesting and unusual terms of its creation. It also mentions different points of view on journalistic objectivity, its individual parts and means of research. The goal of the practical part is to compare Echo24 with other wholly-online news concerning other points than their readers' opinion. This study is also concerned with the form of presenting information taking in account one of the news values - objectivity. It also deals with the space provided for criticized subjects to justify, because it is one of the impartiality indicators. The bachelor's thesis is completed with a questionnaire investigating awareness of different public groups about the project and its impartiality
Paywalls and the future of journalism
Novotný, Jan ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The Master's diploma thesis examines the phenomenon of imposing paywalls on news content. By using qualitative interview research, case studies, theoretical and empirical analysis the thesis emphasizes mainly the differences between individual ways of imposing paywalls and also factors that can influence the process of implementing paywalls. Hypothesis claims that imposing paywalls on existing free content can serve as an incentive on the media market to reach a growing productivity of media enterprises in spite of a booming popularity of sharing free information. It depends whether the right business model is implemented. According to the hypothesis the right model is "metered model" that responds to the nature of the internet and implies that certain amount of content would remain free of charge. Both paid and free content spheres should have to be redefined by new ergonomy and new journalistic content.

Havlíček, Jan ; Brixí, Radim (advisor) ; Kalina, Jaroslav (referee)
The paper concerns the relation of mass media and the theories of information and communication and the influence the internet has on the field of mass communication. Another part of the study evaluates how are the czech mass media organizations, with an accent on the daily newspaper format internet websites, adopting certain internet technological trends, from the point of view of understanding and implementing these technologies and also from the point of view of delivering their contents through these formats to their audiences. An internet questionaire has been elaborated to appraise these objects too. It's output and commentaries of the findings are to be found at the end of the work. The last object of my interest in this study is to find out what the role of technology when it comes to interpretation of the information is and what is the meaning of technology in the process of communication.
