Knappová, Dana ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee)
0 Abstrakt The diploma thesis deals with closeness of relationship and marital satisfaction among people suffering from obesity. The main research question is if the level of marital satisfaction depends on BMI (Body Mass Index). These issues are first discussed on theoretical level. Then we used the Locke - Wallace, RCI and SF - 36 questioneries in the research part. The results shows that there is no direct connection between BMI and marital satisfaction but we found some other factors that influence the marital satisfaction. Keywords: marriage, obesity, marital satisfaction

Diagnosis of the nutritional status focused on overweight and obese population
Pokorná, Kateřina ; Polášková, Marcela (advisor) ; Coufalová, Klára (referee)
Title Diagnosis of the nutritional status focused on overweight and obese population. The aim of the work The aim of thesis is to summarize and describe the methods that are used for determining the nutritional status of overweight and obese individuals. Methodology The thesis is a theoretical work with a search character. The main method in the creation of this type of work is a critical content analysis of available resources for the work, and the subsequent comparison of selected findings about diagnosis of nutritional status of overweight and obese population. Results Review article shows that in the clinical practices of identifying a person's nutritional status of overweight or obese at the first contact with the examined using BMI. The orientation index is also used index WHR. Due to the approximate nature of these indexes, however, provides for additional precise examinations body composition, which are for example caliper measurements or bioimpedance. Essential components of a diagnosis of nutritional status are also constitutional typology, family and personal history, immunological examination, biochemical tests and monitoring dietary habits. Keywords Nutritional status of the organism, diagnosis of nutritional status, health, overweight, obesity
Fitness rowing as a way how to influence hypokinesis of adults
Kyselá, Kristýna ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Dvořák, Martin (referee)
Title of bachelor thesis: Fitness rowing as a way how to influence hypokinesis of adults. Author: Kristýna Kyselá Supervisor of bachelor thesis: Prof. Ing. Václav Bunc, CSc. Objective: Verify the applicability of rowing not only as a convenient means of influencing physical fitness but also as a maintaince of mental health for adults. Methodology: Survey filled by two prague rowing clubs - Rowing club Bohemians Praha, Rowing club Smíchov and two coaches from each of them were used to fulfill the objectives. Participants of that survey were 21-78 years old and the total number of them is 25. Results: Participants expressed satisfaction with rowing - in the survey they said that they definitely feel better physically and they also reported psychological well- being and they want to continue rowing. For that group of participants rowing can be used as a solution of lack of psysical activity in the age range of 21-78 years. Keywords: hypokinesis, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, healthy lifestyle, physical activity, fitness rowing
Impact of weight loss in obese subjects on the sensitivity of adipose tissue cells in relation to stress of endoplasmatic reticulum.
Karlická, Michaela ; Rossmeislová, Lenka (advisor) ; Němcová, Vlasta (referee)
Adipocytokines released by the adipose tissue play an important role in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses. In obesity their production is dysregulated, which is one of the major factors contributing to the onset of a chronic low-grade systemic inflammation representing a risk factor for the progression of other diseases, such as atherosclerosis or type-2 diabetes. The main goal of this thesis was to analyze the secretion of selected adipocytokines (adiponectin, IL6 and MCP1) by in-vitro differentiated adipocytes, isolated from the adipose tissue prior to and after a dietary intervention, and this under basal conditions and during stimulated lipolysis. In case of adiponectin, the secretion of its isoforms was analyzed too. The concentration of adiponectin, IL6 and MCP1 was determined by the ELISA method, the Western Blot method was used to determine the distribution of the adiponectin isoforms. The thesis also concentrates on the gene expression of ATF3, ATF4 and HSPA5, factors engaged in the ER stress in the course of the differentiation of adipocytes. The changes in the gene expression were measured by the quantitative Real Time PCR method. At the same time the development of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in the course of adipogenesis was monitored by indirect...
Comparing the eating habits of selected groups of elementary school children in the Czech Republic and Denmark
Víchová, Kristina ; Marádová, Eva (advisor) ; Vodáková, Jitka (referee)
This thesis deals with nutrition and diet, especially at a young age. The aim of this thesis is to investigate and compare the dietary habits of selected pupils from the Czech Republic and Denmark. It is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the basic elements of nutrition, proper eating and water intake, general nutritional recommendations for children and adults, and nutrition of children. In addition the theoretical part of the thesis is focused on a catering in the Czech Republic and Denmark. The practical part contains results of a research concentrated on eating habits of a selected group of school children in the Czech Republic and Denmark. As a method of data collection was chosen the written form of an anonymous questionnaire. As part of the survey were compared to partial aspects of eating. These were mainly the consumption of fruits, vegetables, sweets, soft drinks, dairy products and fast food. The survey shows that a selected group of Danish children in selected aspects eat better. A group of Danish children consume more vegetables and fruits and consume more whole grain dark bread instead of light. In contrast, a group of Czech children consume more sweets and drink more soft drinks. Daily diet Czechs and Danes are very different. The survey...
Effect of ectopic synthesis of mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 in white adipose tissue on whole-body metabolism in mice
Janovská, Petra ; Kopecký, Jan (advisor) ; Drahota, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kalous, Martin (referee)
The prevention and treatment of obesity is a major problem of health care systems in affluent societies. Metabolism of adipose tissue belongs to the therapeutical targets, since accumulation of adipose tissue is the basis of obesity development. Experiments using transgenic mice with ectopic expression of brown- fat uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) in white adipose tissue (WAT), verified a concept that obesity could be ameliorated by increasing energy expenditure in WAT. The goal of the experiments of this PhD Thesis was to characterize in detail the phenotype of this unique animal model of obesity resistance. We have shown that mitochondrial uncoupling in WAT resulted in increased oxidation of fatty acids (FA), in face of decreased lipogenesis and induced mitochondrial biogenesis in this tissue. In further studies, we aimed to modulate propensity to obesity be increasing FA oxidation in WAT in response to physiological stimuli. This could be accomplished in response to the combination treatment using n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) and mild calorie restriction in mice fed high-fat diet. Synergistic induction of mitochondrial oxidative capacity and lipid catabolism in epididymal WAT was associated with suppression of low-grade inflammation of WAT, which is typical for obesity. The improvement of lipid...
Post bariatric surgery diet
HOSKOVCOVÁ, Klára
This bachelor thesis on the topic of Post bariatric surgery diet is focused on current recommendations for short-term diet after bariatric surgery and mainly for long-term post bariatric surgery diet. Aims of this thesis are as follows: to map common types of bariatric surgery, describe causes of nutritional complications resulting from bariatric surgery and observe the form and recommendations for a Post baraitric surgery diet. The theoretical part compiles information on obesity and bariatric surgery, as well as the diet before and after bariatric surgery. For the practical part I used the method of combined research. The survey was carried out with a weekly food record and a semi-structured interview, which focused on the influence of the operation on the dietary habits and lifestyle of the respondents. Food records were analysed individually using post bariatric surgery diet recommendations, interview responses were transcribed and evaluated collectively. The research results show that respondents are sufficiently informed about the regimen and diet recommendations before the procedure, but their compliance varies individually. The most frequent variations include inadequate energy and nutrient intake, consumption of inappropriate food, distribution of food during the day and lack of physical activity. Six of eight respondents adhere fully to the dietary regimen recommendations, two respondents follow with difficulties: one due to a mental illness and the second due to dropping out of the regimen after losing weight. All respondents showed overall satisfaction with undergoing bariatric surgery and would undergo it again. Two respondents reported improvement in type 2 diabetes.
