Design of Hearing Aids in LabVIEW
Macíček, Ondřej ; Tannenberg, Milan (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis contains the block diagram of hearing aid, anatomy description of human hearing system and description of most important physical values in this problematics of hearing and sound. There are analyzed several types of hearing tests for diagnosis of the hearing loss level and some types of algorithms, which fit the frequency characteristic of patient's hearing loss too. Further this thesis contains interactive program of hearing aid, which has implemented equations for sound equalization.
Binaural hearing aid correction with one power supply
Novotná, Eliška ; Kolářová, Jana (referee) ; Vlk, Daniel (advisor)
This thesis will be devoted to binaural hearing correction with single source power. This correction is aimed at elderly patients who are most likely to have presbycusis. The theoretical part is focused on individual types of hearing loss, possibilities of their audiology tests, also about theory of hearing aids. The practical part contains a model of hearing aid and a possible way of testing. The work compares binaural corrections with proposed model.

Hearing impairment and fatigue in everyday life
Kučerová, Kamila ; Hádková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (referee)
The thesis is focused on the relationship between hearing impairment and fatigue in everyday life. The theoretical part first introduces the topic of hearing impairment and fatigue separately, and then connects these two aspects and introduces current knowledge and studies that deal with the issue of fatigue in people with hearing impairment. The theoretical findings are followed by a practical section describing research that aims to analyse and reflect on the impact of hearing impairment on everyday fatigue in people with hearing impairment. To achieve this aim, a qualitative research design inspired by the international research of Holman et al. (2019) was used - in this respect, despite various limitations based primarily on the thesis's specifics, we attempted to replicate the international research. Our research consisted of conducting six semi-structured interviews (n = 6) with adult individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss. All interviews were subsequently analysed using thematic analysis. The results of the research bring several findings - perceived everyday fatigue related to hearing loss is a highly individual matter and manifests itself in most (but not all) respondents to varying degrees. Hearing impairment-related fatigue can result from increased hearing effort or exposure...
Cochlear implantation in prelingually deaf children from the perspective of people with hearing loss
Nováková, Daniela ; Hradilová, Tereza (advisor) ; Komorná, Marie (referee)
This diploma thesis takes a look at cochlear implantation in prelingually deaf children from the view of adults with hearing loss. Although most hearing parents would most likely make use of the option to at least partially restore the hearing of their non-hearing child, that may not be the only possible solution for people with hearing loss. The aim of this thesis is to map and to clarify the views and opinions of people with hearing loss on cochlear implantation in prelingually non-hearing children. This thesis highlights the link between cochlear implants and the Deaf culture and community, where the topic of cochlear implantation is often controversial. The theoretical section introduces key topics regarding the aim of this thesis, especially the association between hearing loss and the Deaf community, communication of people with hearing loss, while also introducing basic information about cochlear implantation. In the practical section of the thesis, as part of the qualitative research, the statements of eleven respondents are quoted, which were obtained in the form of semi- structured interviews in Czech Sign Language. Based on the research, the author concludes that individuals with hearing loss appeal to the parents of prelingually deaf children to actively seek out all of the information...
The quality of life of people with hearing disabilities from an ethical perspective
BÍLKOVÁ, Ladislava
The thesis deals with the quality of life of people with hearing impairment in various stages of life with utilization of compensatory devices which affect their fulfilled and high-quality life from the ethical point of view. It also deals with the Act No. 329/2011 Coll., setting conditions for granting the compensatory devices to people with hearing impairment and role of social worker at social department of labor office with ethical approaches. By writing the thesis I come to conclusion that when assessing applications according to the law about compensatory devices, the 30-year-old setting of total hearing loss is considered. Big changes occurred in our society since then, integration, social inclusion gain ground but still only the offer of compensatory devices changed in the law. By change, meaning reduction of the total hearing loss from 85% according to Fowler to lower value in the law would lead to better usability of some compensatory devices for the benefit of the people with moderate to severe hearing loss and by that to their better inclusion into society and higher overall quality of life. Higher competence of medical assessors or social workers could also be considered with emphasis on individual assessment of applications according to social and life situation of the applicant.
