Legal Aspects of the changes in theater industry in Czechoslovakia After World War II After World War II (in May 1945), Czechoslovakian theaters were reopened. The so-called theater revolution began, during which the theater industry in Czechoslovakia experienced fundamental changes in organizational structure. Despite the efforts of Austria-Hungary and the First Czechoslovak Republic, this space was still regulated by the Theater Act of November 25, 1850 (Ministry of the Interior law No. 454/1850). There were also plans to consolidate the regulation of the theater industry in Czechoslovakia, as Hungarian legal article XXXI had been in effect since 1848 in Slovakia. This was a different (and even older) legal regulation than the one in Bohemia. This work explores the legal considerations of the aforementioned reorganization of theaters. The main goal of the research is to describe how the pre-World War II regulatory environment affected the evolution of theater industry regulation thereafter, including mapping out any significant path dependencies. The representation of the biblical themes in the Czech art in the 1940s and 1950s

The thesis deals with the topic of the representation of the Christian themes in the Old and New Testament in the Czech art in the forties and fifties of the twentieth century. There are two time spans that are observed. The first one begins with the commencement of the Second World War and ends in 1948. The second period dates from 1948 until 1960. The text attempts to capture the biblical motifs that appeared most frequently in the works of artists during the 1940s and 1950s. Furthermore, it tries to explain why authors chose the given biblical motifs. This work is dedicated to the artists who were working with the Christian themes for their whole life as well as to those whose works were influenced by these subjects for only a short period of time. International Music Festival Prague Spring in post-World War Czechoslovakia: Festival reception in the journals Tempo and Hudební rozhledy between 1946-1948

This thesis discusses the first three years of the International Music Festival Prague Spring, as reflected in the articles from the musical journals Tempo and Hudební rozhledy. According to the analysis of these articles this thesis follows up the development of the festival dramaturgy and organization between years 1946 and 1948 in the connections with the development of the politics and the cultural politics in the post-World War Czechoslovakia as the basic elements of festivals orientation in the next decades. In addition to that the thesis is devoted to the question of the existence and availability of sources and literature related to the theme of Prague Spring Music Festival.
Receptions of Ilya Repin's artworks and exhibitions of Russian artists in Prague 1900-1953

This barchelor thesis aims to examine the receptions of exhibitions of Russian artists, which took place in Prague in the first half of the 20th century, with an emphasis on the work of the well - know Russian painter Ilya Yefimovich Repin. This thesis will observe transformation of the reception of Russian art under differen historical circumstance that the Czech lands and Russia went through and in the context of the changing attitude of Czech society towards Russian culture. It will be based on the example of the work of I. Repin. The first large group exhibition of Russian artists in Prague took place in 1900, when Russia was struggling sharply with the question of nationalism and the uprising revolutional movement. During the First Czechoslovak Republik several smaller monographic exhibitions of Repin took place. In addition, in 1935 took place another big exhibition of Russian paintings of the 18th - 20th centuries took place and it was created under the auspices of the City of Prague. Directing and control of regional media in Czechoslovakia in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century based on the example of media reflection of culture events in Pardubice district

This dissertation thesis addresses the history of public relations of the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia in Pardubice district. It is focussed at the period of so-called normalization. Firstly, it discusses the historical context of the time for understanding the crisis of the system in 70s and 80s. The first chapters describe so-called Prague spring and military invasion in August 1968. Next chapters stress changes in politics and media after the election of Gustáv Husák to become First Secretary of the Communist Party in April, 1969. The second part of text is case study about Pardubice district. The main topic of dissertation thesis are newspaper of Pardubice district - Zář. But there are also chapters about radio, factory newspaper, regional Union of Czech Journalists or College in Pardubice and editors of student magazine. In the second part of case study attention is focussed on cultural section of newspaper Zář and its main topics - for example political anniversaries and the role of culture. In cultural section I analyze which information and how they were, or were not presented to public. Supervision and control over the media content was one of the main regime's tools to take over the culture area and its presentation.
Vaclav Dobias (1909-1978), between music and politics

The presented thesis deals with the topic of Czechoslovak cultural politics in music during the Socialist Realist era. The author based the study on the personal history of Václav Dobiáš, a prominent composer, cultural organiser and a pedago- gue, who serves as a typical representation of an artist, who bestowed all his artistic talents to the cause of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. The first chapter briefly describes Socialist Realism as a movement in music in the Soviet Union, the place of its origin. The main emphasis is put on the introduction to Zhdanov's po- litical speech, which consequently became the mandatory norm in the countries of the Eastern bloc. The next chapter is focused on Czechoslovak reflexion of Socialist Realism and its reception. This chronological development aims to expose the spe- cifics of each periods' reception of this artistic movement. Following chapters are dedicated to Václav Dobiáš. The first chapter of this part of the thesis deals with the beginning of the artist's journey which was strongly influenced by the avantgarde movement of 1930's. Selected samizdat magazines 1980-1987

The subject of the thesis "Selected samizdat magazines 1980 - 1987 (X Desítka (Ten)/Violit and Jednou nohou (One Foot)/Revolver Revue)" is to give a picture of how these magazines were created and how they functioned in the context of the time. The first part of the thesis gives a general description of historical events, especially the period surrounding Gustáv Husák's rise to become the head of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the start of normalisation. This change brought about issues such as political cleansing and trials and the development of opposition. The second chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of Charter 77, its origins, the response to it by the party and state apparatus and what it meant to be a Charter 77 member in everyday life. The concept of samizdat is briefly defined in chapter three. The fourth and fifth chapters deal with the magazines themselves. In the sixth chapter they are compared mainly in terms of production and distribution.
Uses of Gaelic Folk Traditions in Selected Plays by W.B.Yeats, Augusta Gregory and J.M. Synge

1 Summary It is the various aspects of the traditional Irish narrative - that is of a mythology or a folktale - such as old traditions of the peoples and various motifs which can be identified as the traits of the Irish literary canon that bear the greatest importance with regard to the national heritage of the Irish. It is important to focus upon that issue and analyze it more profoundly through the works of the earliest innovators in the genre. With regard to that, it must be said that the most striking significance can definitely be granted to the first representatives of the genre of mythology or a folktale who actively took part in the process called "Celtic" or "Gaelic Renaissance," that means to William Butler Yeats, John Millington Synge and Lady Augusta Gregory. In the thesis their works are analyzed closely and the traditional motifs and other literary means of representing the national heritage of the Irish are revealed. In this respect, the following works of theirs are in question: Deirdre by W. B. Yeats, Deirdre of the Sorrows by J. M. Synge and a chapter from Cuchulain of Muirthemne, "Fate of the Sons of Usnach," by Lady Gregory. Skopje 2014: Governmental Role in the Spatial Politics of Collective Memory In my research the key interest is to understand how the government uses public spaces in order to supply the continuity of the narratives and how it maintains collective memories. In the matter of the public interpretations of the past, I am especially interested in the effects it has upon the collective memories of the citizens, notably to the generations, who have experienced the city. Above all, I examine the work of artists and architects who are using styles and symbols that affect the memories by ambivalent imitations and interpretations. Such content is seen within the framework of a multi- ethnical state presented by polarized public with polarized relations between the two major ethnicities of Macedonians and Albanians. I will try to examine the level of manipulation while demonstrating history in public space, creating false correlations of the past. Such phenomenon has been perceived as a one of having negative influence at present. It is taken as a possible change within the process of identification of future generations.
