A comparison of news reports and the preparation of a regionalpublic television broadcast in the Czech republic and Poland
Bilanová, Joanna ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Hanzal, Jaromír (referee)
News service is an important aspect of the journalistic aktivity. I tis main goal is to inform the public about actualities. Even though the news service is subject to strict regulations, we can observe substantial differences between the programs of different TV channels and also between broadcasting in different countries. My work consists of an investigation into the differences in broadcasting in two bordering countries - the Czech Republic and Poland. This essay primarily focuses on the comparison of the major local broadcasting channels Události v regionech ČT Ostrava and Aktualności TVP Katowice. I am mainly concerned about the differences in production of individual news, beginning with the choice - making as to what news to include, through the production of the news, and finishing with the final broadcasting. My research question is: Are there any differences between local broadcasting of these two channels? The main method of investigation employed in this essay is a semiotic analysis together with a quantitative analysis and interviews.
Creating Memory in Public Broadcasting
Novotná, Petra ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Zandlová, Markéta (referee)
In my diploma thesis I describe the process, in which some episodes of the radio program Příběhy 20. století are made and with this example I explain, which factors can influence remembering in a medium of the public sphere and how "lieux de mémoire" occur in its broadcasting. I examine the recording of some of the narratives that can possibly be presented in the radio program, how the interviewers handle the interviewees and what motivation do they have to work in a project like this. I focus on how the stories are picked for the radio program, how are they edited, who takes part in the editing and how is it possible that they are in charge of it. My diploma thesis also includes a detailed description of the social position of Post Bellum organisation and its fundamental project Paměť národa, which are both closely connected to radio program Příběhy 20. století. In the conclusion of my thesis I deal with the fact, that this social position is one of the main elements in the process of memory making in public sphere medium, because it has an indirect impact on it. In my thesis I try to answer, what influence can the examined radio program (as part of institutionalized remembering and media communication) have on social memory.

The Transformation of Czech Radio After the Introduction of Web 2.0
Tichá, Lucie ; Groman, Martin (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
The topic of this thesis is the Transformation of Czech Radio after the Introduction of Web 2.0. The research was carried out from the Czech Radio employees (working on both Prague or regional stations) point of view, who have had experience working at Czech Radio before and after the advent of Web 2.0. The subjects of the research questions were: adaptation of employees, the impact of changes on the content of broadcasting and ethical principles and finally, their general consequences on Czech Radio in the digital age. The answers to the presented questions were then explained in the practical part of the thesis by a qualitative research using the method of semi-structured interviews and the method of grounded theory for the subsequent analysis of the collected data. The analysis of the data shows that changes could not have taken place without the employees who set them in motion. Within the changes associated with the new communication environment of Web 2.0, feedback plays a important role. It affects Czech Radio employees who use it to influence changes in content, changes in its presentation and partly on its topics. The adaptation process differed at the level of positions. The position of web editors played an important role in the adaptation of other members.
