Anxiety from the perspective of the selected existentialist authors
Sauerová, Kristina ; Luptáková, Marina (advisor) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is the subjective experience of anxiety. The author has attempted to secede from the strictly psychological level, therefore there are authors dealing with the overlap of human existence included. As a result, the thesis is also a partly philosophical view of anxiety. However, given the focus of the author, the greater part of the work is based on the psychological view. In the practical part, the hypothesis that the consciousness of the meaning of life has a certain influence on the experience of anxiety was confirmed. However, this effect is not as large and as clear as Frankl describes in his work.
Heidegger's concept of attunements, moods and emotions. Boredom as a specific attunement of the Dasein
Čermák, Marek ; Benyovszky, Ladislav (advisor) ; Novotný, Jaroslav (referee)
This master's thesis addresses the problem of moods and attunements in Heidegger's famous conceptualization which falls into the 1st half of 20th century and which he introduced in his phenomenology, understood as fundamental ontology. This thesis follows "being attuned" in terms of its essential characteristics and with the emphasis on its full meaning, in terms of existential analytics of man as Dasein. The objective of this thesis is to show, in which sense is "being attuned" grasped as the essential way of being of the Dasein in the midst of beings as a whole, and how is this "being attuned", as this essential way of being, made manifest, or how it may manifest itself to us the possibilities and limits of the Dasein understood as "being here" (Da-sein). In terms of particular moods and attunements, the thesis follows mainly the motif of fear and anxiety and is seeking to create an understanding of profound boredom as the fundamental attunement of the Dasein and its connectedness with the temporal character of the essence of the Dasein. Key words: Dasein, attunement, anxiety, fear, boredom Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The crisis of everyday life in the novels A Rose of Flesh by Jan Wolkers and Seize the Day by Saul Bellow
Vítek, Lukáš ; Sedláčková, Lucie (advisor) ; Gielen, Albertus Josephus Dominicus (referee)
(English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse how the phenomenon of a personal crisis is described in the novels A Rose of Flesh by Jan Wolkers and Seize the Day by Saul Bellow. To make it clearer that the crisis is an exceptional, painful but also potentially positive period of human life, the concept is contrasted with the notion/idea of "everyday life". Specifically, the author is comparing the impact of the states of anxiety that the protagonists of both novels experience in connection with their daily rituals and habits. Theoretically, the thesis offers a systematic explanation of the causes, the symptoms and the effects of a personal crisis, including an explanation of the anxiety and guilt. This is followed by an interpretation of both novels with regard to the tension between the ordinary and the unordinary. This interpretation demonstrates that the exposure to suffering in the crisis does not have to be permanent and that it can lead to the discovery of new ways out. This fact is made evident without the exit of a dark tunnel being shown. Keywords: psychological crisis, everyday life, existential problems, suffering, guilt, anxiety, panic disorder, the past, midlife crisis

The Hidden Avant-Garde. Czech Avant-Garde Fiction between Individualism and Collectivism
Malá, Zuzana ; Janoušek, Pavel (advisor) ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (referee) ; Flaišman, Jiří (referee)
in English This work focuses on the Czech afterwar avant-garde and its fiction in the wider European context. The main goal of our writing was diversifying literary historical field by integrating genre of short story and its authors into the interpretive frame of the prepoetistic avant-garde. We could intrude a canonic picture of the Czech avant-garde by enriching the interpretive frame of the new genre (short story) and new, often hardly known or forgotten, writers. Last but not least by doing so we were able to questioned and problematized basic oppositions such as expressionism × avant-garde, and mainly individualism × collectivism. We introduce the principal opposition individualism × collectivism, which in our opinion, organizes afterwar literary discourse, as a main connecting line between Czech avant-garde art and European art (collective and one of its manifestation - crowd, as one of the main themes of modernism and avant-garde). We interpretate beyond this scope the fictions of French unanimism as the main inspiration of the Czech afterwar avan-garde and its (collective) fiction as well.
