Urban, Adam ; Štemberk, Jan (advisor) ; Šalanda, Bohuslav (referee)
(English) The diploma thesis The Establishment of the Union of European Football Associations and the Czechoslovak Footprint in International Football (1954-1989) deals with the formation of UEFA in the 1950s and the interference of Czechoslovak football in European football at various levels in 1954-1989. The thesis represents a unique contribution to the history of UEFA, especially in the Czech environment, where it is an unexplored issue. Due to the subject of the work, a historical approach was used. The work is based mainly on archival materials, which are stored in the National Archives in the collection of the ÚV ČSTV and periodicals focused on sports and football (Československý sport, Kopaná). The work first focuses on the form of European football in the absence of a European body and describes the form of competitions at the time. Subsequently, the political events that influenced the creation of UEFA and at the same time shaped the environment in which the confederation operated are considered. Specifically, it is a matter of dividing Europe into two blocks, which defined each other on several levels and football was no exception. This factor is reflected throughout the work. In the last part, the work deals with the influence of UEFA on the form of European football, especially on its...
Analysis of Investments and Market Value of Football Clubs
Podzemský, Lukáš ; Polák, Petr (advisor) ; Červinka, Michal (referee)
In the most recent times, success in football competitions and huge money in- vestments became almost synonyms. This thesis investigates to what degree the market value of a team impacts their success in modern European football. Furthermore, this work extends the existing literature by focusing on the in- dividual in-game positions' effect on success based on the market values. This thesis uses correlation analysis and OLS regression in its empirical part. Data sample covers last six seasons starting in 2015/2016 and three major competi- tions - Premier League, LaLiga and Serie A. The first important finding comes from the Pearson correlation coefficient for the position in standings and posi- tion by market value of a team, and it is that the Serie A has the highest level of correlation between those two variables equal to 0.87. On the other hand, from the OLS regression, we found out that the least amount of extra investment is required in Serie A to get extra points. The most expensive competition in this way is Premier League. Finally, this work finds an evidence that the most important position for success with the highest returns on investment is defense for Premier League, midfield for Serie A, and offense for LaLiga. Fur- thermore, the importance of goalkeepers was not found to be...

van den Eeckhout, Gerbrand Henricus Andreas ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Oellermann, Thomas (referee)
1 This MA thesis starts to explore a new exciting part of socialization theory, by applying the research into socialization in the management of the Czech football club SK Slavia Praha. This is done trough the evaluation of the end of the year 2007, when SK Slavia Praha for the first and last time played the group stage of UEFA Champions League. This MA thesis tries to prove that there was indeed a transfer of norms and values from UEFA to SK Slavia Praha. Next to this, this MA thesis also tries to prove that the previous socialization is not anymore apparent in the club, since the contacts with UEFA (and ECA) have since then lost because of the lack of international matches played by SK Slavia Praha. This research is done through interviews with the employees of the club, both the ones working in the club in 2007, and the ones who are employed in 2014. Keywords: SK Slavia Praha; UEFA; ECA; Socialization; Europeanization; football; management

Haman, Jakub ; Numerato, Dino (advisor) ; Pergl, David (referee)
Professional football environment is becoming more corporate and alienate itself more and more from the fans. Because of that UEFA, under influence of fan groups, decided to incorporate new licensing regulations in 2011. The goal of those new regulations was to offer a bigger share of influence over big clubs to fans. The new position of Supporter Liaison Officer was a part of those new licensing regulations. SLOs main goal is to provide a source of communication between club and its fans. After a few years in 2017 the Czech League Football Association LFA incorporated SLO into its own licensing regulations. In this thesis we are focusing on the process of implementation SLO into Czech football and which institutions played role in it through interviews with Czech SLOs. We are using the theory of Institutional Isomorphism which allows us to focus on functioning of SLO in Czech football through its three isomorphic processes. Because the position of SLO was implemented by just four first league, we are going to focus on why it is not implemented by all as well. Thanks to the analysis of interviews and recherche of documents we were able to show which processes affect SLO and how. We identified all three of the isomorphic processes, coercive, mimetic, and normative. The thesis also allows comparison...
