Ethics in Advertising

The main goal of this thesis is to determine university students’ attitudes towards ethics of advertising in the Czech Republic. In order to attain this goal, an empiric survey will be conducted among students by means of questionnaire inquiring. The theoretic part of the thesis deals generally with the concepts of ethics and advertising and their position and importance in the Czech Republic, the following part then provides examples of unethical advertisements from the Czech and foreign practices. The result of inquiring will be the establishment of the rate of tolerance or non-tolerance of respondents towards ethics of advertising in the Czech Republic and their subsequent formulation in the form of recommendations for involved groups. The thesis and its results will be submitted to the advertising agency and graphical studio GAD STUDIO s.r.o. with its registered seat in Brno. Its results will also be provided as feedback to the Czech Advertising Standards Council.
Childrens tolerance for advertisements

The content of this bachelor's thesis is the analysis of advertising communication as the phenomena of contemporary world, especially in the relation to target group of children. The work focuses on the television being the most effective advertising medium. The theoretical part firstly deals with characterizing of the television medium, then it specifies television as the tool of advertising communication. Subsequently, the work concentrates on the advertising itself, its goals and specifics. The attention is also paid to child addressees and legislative and ethical precautions that protect them in the area of advertisement. The work specifically focuses on the level of child's tolerance to television advertisement and on the basis of qualitative research, it evaluates the child's knowledge of advertisement and what they mind about it.
Alcohol Advertising

The thesis concerns itself with alcohol advertising. Alcohol is the most widespread habit-forming substance, yet its consumption is permitted in most countries all around the world, possibly restricted by the age of consumers only. Drinking alcohol cannot be either regulated or prohibited today. It has become commonplace for the majority of our lives. Being aware of its apparent risks, however, there is an effort to regulate at least alcohol advertising. The main objective of this work was to provide a comprehensive picture of alcohol advertising, with the focus on its regulation, concerning the legal regulation as well as the self-regulation. First, the thesis deals with advertising as such, its regulation in the course of time and how it has been regulated recently. The thesis further describes the adjustment of alcohol advertising, the legal amendment and its development, as well as the regulation through The Czech Advertising Standards Council and the development of this self- regulation. The next chapter focuses on the examination of alcohol advertising over the age. Based on the analysis of the advertising involvement of Pilsner Urquell, as the selected alcohol industry representative, it was found that advertising during the 20th century did not consider its legal, since it was very limited...

Ethical and legal rules of advertisement

This diploma thesis is dedicated to the legal and ethical rules of advertisement, not only in relation to definitions and provisions of enactments and codes, but also to the point of view of cases solved in accordance to these rules. The thesis contains the definition of advertisement, characterization of illegal and unethical advertisement, description and comparison of self-regulation in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, including codes which are applied by these bodies. The self-regulation of European Union is described marginally. The other part of the thesis represents opinions of consumers in connection with ethical principles in advertisements and advertisements in general. A significant part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of complaints and cases received and resolved by both self-regulatory bodies in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom and cases resolved by Czech courts.
Women, children and advertising - legal and ethical aspects

The thesis titled "Women, children and advertising - legal and ethical aspects" deals with the portrayal of women and children in advertising. The aim of the thesis is to analyze advertising with a focus on the portrayal of women and children present to Arbitration Committee in the reporting period and propose recommendations for the future. The work also deals with the importance of legal and ethical rules that regulate advertising and focuses on content regulation of women and children.
Legal and ethical framework for the use of nudity in marketing communications of companies of the fashion industry

The thesis deals with the legislative framework governing the display of human nudity in marketing communications of the fashion industry. Its aim is to explore the legal and ethical framework which governs its use in advertising in the Czech Republic and selected EU member states (The United Kingdom, France, Italy) and the United States. Firstly, the very concept of fashion is defined, followed by historical overview that focuses on the methods of promoting fashion brands, with particular regard to nudity, from the very beginning of the 20th century to the present. Following is the current practice in marketing communications, including its online aspects. Thesis then describes the legal framework and ethical framework that regulates the use of nudity. It includes an outline of selected cases, when complaints about allegedly improper use of nudity in advertising were judged by state or self-regulatory bodies. There are also results of the poll among companies which already used nudity in their marketing communication and the results of the public survey. Work is concluded by prediction of the possible use of this phenomenon in the future based on an extrapolation of current developments.
Advertisement from the perspective of ethics regulation

This diploma thesis mainly deals with the ethical rules of advertisement. In the general part, the thesis contains the definiton of advertisement and ethics, description of self-regulation in the Czech Republic, relationship between ethical and legal regulation and also self-regulation in other states. The second part analyses the number of complaints and ads discussed by Arbitration Committee. The diploma thesis is concluded with the opinions of consumers on advertisement in general, situation of self-regulation in the Czech Republic and ethical principles in advertisement.

The bachelor thesis is dealing with unfair competition focusing primarily on false advertising and it's perception of consumers. Theoretical part is focusing on expla-nation of terms related to unfair competition, advertising and false advertising and further legal as well as extralegal protection of consumer against false advertising. In practical part, I have dealt with questionnaire survey whose purpose was to determine how consumers perceive false advertising and if they are aware how to protect themselves against this kind of advertising or even they once defended themselves against it.
