Interdisciplinary relation between cartography and mathematics in the teaching at high school
Leipertová, Gabriela ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Marada, Miroslav (referee)
LEIPERTOVÁ, G. (2012): Interdisciplinary relation between cartography and mathematics in the teaching at high school. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. The present diploma thesis analyses interdisciplinary relations between cartography and mathematics on three levels: on the level of intended curriculum, on the level of implemented curriculum and on the level of attained curriculum. On the level of the intended curriculum, project documents such as the Framework Educational Programme for High Schools and the School Educational Programmes of selected high schools are especially studied. The content analysis of selected textbooks of geography evaluates relations between cartography and mathematics on the basis of occurrence and (quality of) explication of required subject matters, amount of examples, illustrations and charts. Moreover, selected chapters of cartography, in which mathematical skills are applied, are elaborated in detail. On the level of the implemented curriculum, the real state of teaching of these interdisciplinary relations at selected high schools is evaluated through questionnaires for teachers of geography and of mathematics. On the level of the attained curriculum, the ability of pupils to combine knowledge of cartography and...
Digestion as an interdisciplinary topic in science education
Šarboch, David ; Teplá, Milada (advisor) ; Martínek, Václav (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on creating educational materials (educational text and educational animation) for secondary schools emerging topic of digestion in human body. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part the following terms are defined: interdisciplinarity, visualization and animation. Moreover, the presence of the topic in the RVP G and analysis of accesible videos and animations, made in relation with the topic, are investigated. Results of both form a base to create educational materials within the practical part. Finally, a chapter about quantitative research method - questionnaire is incorporated. In the practical part of the diploma thesis, the results of realised questionnaire research are disscused. This questionnaire investigated the state of teaching of digestion in human body at secondary schools. The next chapter is dedicated to a manual for educational animation, the introduction of the programme Adobe Flash Professional CS6 and an educational text. The educational text is devoted to teachers at the first place and consists of basic as well as wider information gathering chemical and biological knowledge, which are related to the topic of the educational animation. The animation itself is put as the attachement on CD-ROM. Both of the...

The work deals with the possibility of interconnecting the teaching of mathematics with music. The theoretical part focuses on the relationship between mathematics and music, student motivation, the theory of multiple intelligence and also on whether music can contribute to the development of mathematical thinking. The practical part delivers five lesson preparations, where the main topic is music education and several other ways to use music education in another mathematical topic. Picture and Scheme in Teaching of Selected Topics of Cytology
Štindl, Přemysl
Dissertation deals with the image didactic means used for the teaching of selected chapters of cytology. Scientific illustration - which is the image and the scheme - meets two roles as far as the biology is concerned: scientific and aesthetic. These two spheres do not exclude each other. On the contrary, by their interconnection and applying interdisciplinary relations of the biology and the fine arts it is possible to vary and upgrade the teaching of those two subjects.
Interdisciplinary relations between mathematics and geography at grammar school: implemented curriculum
Vandrovcová, Jana ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Havelková, Lenka (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the relations between mathematics and geography in teaching at grammar school at implemented curriculum level. In theoretical part it deals with conceptions of teaching which support connection of educational content of individual subjects as well as general possibilities for realization interdisciplinary relations of mathematics or geography. There are also concrete interdisciplinary relations between mathematics and geography presented and there are identified main reasons why the developing of connection berween the mentioned subjects is important. Problems of the realization interdisciplinary relations at teaching conducts a survey by halfstructured interview with mathematics teachers. Their answers provide the view of realized curriculum and they uncover opportunities and limitations the tachers of mathematics at level of interdisciplinary connection deals with in practice. There are mainly teachers with mathematics and geography qualification, who can give their opinion on relations of these two subjects. There were prepared six lessons in this diploma thesis focused on active use of interdisciplinary relations of mathematics and geography. Then the autor taught it at grammar school and it made practical review of possibilities and restrictions of such teaching....
Health education at primary school level
Baráčková, Ivana ; Kovaříková, Miroslava (advisor) ; Syřiště, Ivo (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of "Health education at primary school level" and implementation of project teaching with emphasis on inter-subject relations. The main objective of the thesis is an outline of a teaching program focused on health education at primary school level. The first part covers the the phenomenon of health in the society, health terminology and documents related to health education. Further on, the thesis introduces the "Health-supporting school program" formed to support health education in daily school activities, and thus reach the education goals at an affective level. A special emphasis is put on education to self-competence in information search and in use of textbooks and literature. The second part of the thesis addresses the use of projects at the primary school level and the implementation of a 2 nd grade project focused on learning about the human body. At this point, I find the project education a suitable teaching method, effective in developing the learners' required competencies. In the research part I gather the extent of popularity of project education at primary school level on part of the teachers and point at possible complications or difficulties at its implementation. Mathematical potential of activities in the classes of physical education in elementary school
Šíp, Ondřej ; Slezáková, Jana (advisor) ; Jirotková, Darina (referee)
This thesis is concerned with exploration of the interdisciplinarity of school subjects, specifically the link between mathematics and physical education. The educational goals and content of these subjects, as they are taught in majority of schools, are described in the theoretical part. The subsequent chapters analyze the form of interdisciplinarity in the current educational system, with the focus on the interdisciplinary relation between mathematics and physical education. The practical part of this thesis consists of case reports of students who took part in physical education with activities focused on rhythm in mathematics. This intervention was administered in two fourth grade classes, that were compared with two different fourth grades that took part in regular physical education. The differences between these classes were investigated by examining the students' attitude towards mathematics and physical education, as well as students' mathematical knowledge, which was assessed by administering tests before and after the physical education interventions. Additionally, the thesis contains the collection of the exercises that the students took part in, and which can be used to improve rhythmical and mathematical abilities. KEYWORDS mathematics, physical education, interdisciplinary relations,...
Respiration as an interdisciplinary topic in science education
Čermáková, Vendula ; Teplá, Milada (advisor) ; Distler, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on topics of and respiratory chain and their processing as educational animations for secondary schools. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, supporting terms are defined (visualisations, interdisciplinary relations, animations). Next, themes are included in educational field and thematic unit in RVP G. Two analyses of the topic of respiratory chain are mentioned and evaluated in this part. Firstly, there is an analysis focused on the most used chemical and biological textbooks. The second one is focused on available online animations. For research purpose of the diploma thesis quantitative method was used - a questionnaire survey. Results of this survey are listed in the practical part. Practical part presents educational materials specified for support of education topics of respiration and respiratory chain. Stress on illustrative nature and interdisciplinarity is laid in these materials. The principal materials are educational animations which were made in program Adobe Flash Professional CS6. Study text was also written to these animations. Created educational animations give a complex view on respiratory process. These materials can be used in biology and chemistry subjects or in scientific courses. Animations include two tests giving feedback to...
