The influence of Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment method on students with combined disabilities

The diploma thesis deals with the method of Feuerstein's instrumental enrichment and its influence on pupils with combined disabilities. The aim is to find out whether and how much the regular application of Feuerstein's method of instrumental enrichment affects pupils with combined disabilities and the development of their cognitive functions. The theoretical part consists of six chapters. The first chapter introduces the personality of Reuven Feuerstein, his life and the way to create a method of instrumental enrichment. The second part introduces the method of instrumental enrichment, explains in detail what instrumental enrichment is and its origin. The third chapter summarizes the theoretical basis of instrumental enrichment, presents cognitive functions and their possible deficits, and introduces the system of structural cognitive modifiability, its pillars and areas. The fourth chapter introduces the concept of mediated learning, which context is emphasized and its three basic key parameters, which are: a / focus and reciprocity; b / transfer of learned; c / mediation of the importance of learning activities. Use the Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment at special educators in South Bohemia region

The thesis deals with the use of Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment by school special educators working in the South Bohemia region. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment is used by the addressed special educators. The research was carried out by qualitative research through semi-structured interviews. The interviews were conducted with five special educators working in the South Bohemia region who are trained in the Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment. The results of the research are divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the motivation for training, the second part focuses on the use of the Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment by the interviewed special educators in practice, and the third and final part describes their perspective on the process of training in this method. The results of the research show that the Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment finds its use among the special educators interviewed when working with pupils with different types of special educational needs, who make noticeable progress after its application. The research may serve to motivate other special educators to be trained in this method.
Evaluation of Method Using Cartoon Stories from School for Younger School-Aged Children with Behavioral Problems and Behavioral Disorders

The thesis deals with the topic of diagnostics in children with behavioral problems and disorders. In the theoretical part the author describes commonly used terminology and the width of issues related to caring for these children. The Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment Program is described and built on later in the practical section where the author introduces her own new method called "Children Together". The practical part of the thesis deals with action research aiming at improving author's practice in the field of special education and at evaluating the potential of the new method. The analysis of audio recordings from lessons and semi-structured interviews and two other supplementary research methods were utilized throughout the research. The outcomes of the research allow for a conclusion that the method "Children Together" can provide us with a volume of valuable assessment data on younger elementary-school-aged children. Towards the end of the thesis the author also identifies features of the method most valued by selected professionals, the ways how the method has been improved during the research and how it could be improved further on. The Supporting Educational Programs for Children with Down Syndrome

The present work deals with the education of children with Down syndrome in support of educational methods that help children in a meeting the national curriculum in education. The aim is to describe the selected support educational programs in theoretical and practical compared with the implementation of the programs. The theoretical part defines and characterizes mental disability, mental retardation and try to briefly define the difference between the terms. It also describes Down syndrome - its origin, forms, physiognomic and anatomical manifestations. Then describes the education of children with intellectual disabilities in the state education system, which includes educational programs, also in special education. The paper characterizes education programs for preschool, elementary and Annex for pupils with mild mental disabilities. The last chapter describes the practical part has been selected supporting educational programs - the method of global reading, reading and confluent Feuersteins method of instrumental enrichment. Individual characteristics include the circumstances of the method, the target, as with the method works in practice. The practical part describes how to find and observations of each method and compared with the theoretical part.
Mediated training as a possibility for socially disadvantaged students

This Master thesis aims to solve the question of developmentally-creative possibilities in the schooling process. This question is contextualized education of socially disadvantaged pupils. Because in shaping the learning competencies, this area is not developed enough and specific methods are somewhat rigid, it will be introduced one of the option how to to develop learning skills and abilities of the pupils , and which are in the teaching competencies deemed as essential. In this context will be introduced stimulatory and intervention program of Instrumental Enrichment as a concrete form of execution of Mediated learning and also as an effort of perspective innovation of curriculum. With the intention to point out the limitless possibilities of developing pupil's learning potential, the text focuses on the theoretical and conceptual bases, which constitute the entire program. The program is the instrumental set of tools that lead to the activation of cognitive structures and their subsequent enrichment. Therefore, except the theoretical foundations are also presented cognitive strategies metacognitive training that simplify cognitive modifiability, and that lead to the development of pupils' learning potential.
Mediated Learning as a one from Options of Personal Student's Development

The bachelor thesis is focused on possible solutions, how could a teacher in cooperation with school student to reach satisfactory results achieved with deficits in cognitive function and also contribute to the student's personal development. The solution could be to offer help in the form of mediated learning, which is represented by the Instrumental Enrichment Programme. The effectiveness of the theory of mediated learning is the fact that such learning includes elements components that we guarantee that it is the process of development of creativity. These elements can belong: intervention, diagnosis or reflection of their own learning. The aim is to point out on these features in terms of psychological effect and demonstrate their functionality specific programs and outcomes. The concept of mediated learning due to its openness offers the work of a number of variants of instruments and tools, with regard to the specific circumstances of the task situation. Influence of Feuerstein's instrumental enrichment method on vocabulary development in primary school age children

This bachelor theses primarili focuses on influence of Feuerstein instrumental enrichment program (FIE) to development of vocabulary of younger school age children. Another matter of interest is influence of FIE to expressive abilities, getting better in task solving strategies, vizuomotor coordination abilities and getting better in working and short- term memory in younger school age children and also individual improvement of children who attended FIE course. The aim of academic work is to track changes within these areas, primary in vocabulary, of children, which attended FIE like afternoon freetime activity. Theoretical part includes informations about younger school age children, FIE itself, dynamic diagnosis and origins of Feuerstein's work. Analitical part includes metodology of research, which has been done like a hybrid of quantitative and qualitative type of research. In quantitative part, we used test of Word definitions from CELF-V, Repeating numbers from WISC-IV and Rey-Ostterieth complex figure, therefore in qualitative part we used primarili observation.
