Addiction care for clients with dual disorders in Mental health centers for persons with severe chronic mental illness

Background: According to the standards of the Mental Health Center services, their function is integrated care for persons with a dual diagnosis (MZČR, 2021). Objectives: The goal of the work is to describe and understand how and by whom care is provided to clients in the field of addiction in selected centers. Methods: The practical part of the work consists of semi-structured interviews with workers from 15 (52%) different centers involved in the care of clients with a dual diagnosis in the field of addiction, processed using the method of thematic analysis. Main results: Respondents from 87% of the examined centers had some theoretical or practical training in the field of addiction. Addictologists worked in 40% of the examined centers, all of them in the position of social worker. Those in the center fulfill the role of specialists in working with people with a dual diagnosis. Most centers combine different treatment models. If the client is indicated for residential addiction treatment, they apply the model of successive treatment. They widely use the parallel treatment model. If necessary, they integrate elements of addiction treatment into the care provided. Background Extensive issues of homelessness is a phenomenon with centuries of progressing solution. Specific category is female homelessness, having sometimes different perils, often maybe more rigorous than male homelessness. This thesis adresses current situation in social protection of homeless women with dual diagnosis, as this is creating more complications of homelessness itself. Number of homeless women with dual diagnosis is increasing in time. Practice in shelters for women shows, that system is failing these women, as they are not thriving or getting better in these facilities. Substance-use related psychiatric comorbidity among clients of aftercare programme

Background: Mental illness is a risk factor for the development of addiction, e.g. as a result of self-medication, and vice versa, addictive behavior can contribute to the development of mental illness. Disorders from the use of addictive substances concurrently with another mental disorder, the so-called "dual diagnosis", has a high prevalence among users of addictive substances. Clients with psychiatric comorbidity have a higher incidence of risky behavior or suicide and a higher need for services and care. Objective: The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidity associated with the use of addictive substances in clients using the services of a aftercare center and to describe the factors that accompany its occurrence. Methods: A secondary analysis of data was performed from the provided anonymized database of clients actively using the services of the aftercare center as of March 1, 2023. BACKGROUND: In the system of addictology care, the outpatient sector is being strengthened and pilot programs of outpatient clinics with extended care for patients with substance use disorder (ARP-AD) are being created. ARP-AD clients are users of all types of addictive substances, including non- substance addictions, in various stages of addiction and motivation to change, often with comorbid illness. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary healthcare team that works together intensively. Case management approaches and work in the client's natural environment are applied. One of the main goals is the coordination of the current network of addictology (and other) services based on the individual needs of clients. OBJECTIVE: Qualitative evaluation of the ARP-AD pilot programs with a focus on case management and a multidisciplinary approach. METHODS: The original intention was to carry out a process evaluation of all ARP-AD. Backgound: Case management began to develop in the Czech Republic in 1995 at the level of regional projects. Indicated clients are persons who are unable to resolve their situation on their own, persons who have experienced a social decline and persons with a dual diagnosis. Studies show positive effects of case management, and in the area of psychosocial functioning there is a need to focus on the magnitude of effects and the range of change over time. Studies further show that positive effects in people with a dual diagnosis are achieved only in the case of very intensive case management, and clinical case management has good results in the area of alcohol and drug use. The study follows on from the project "Case management for mentally ill and socially excluded persons" and its results (1st and 2nd wave of the questionnaire survey). Aim: The main aim was to describe the development of changes in subjective life satisfaction among clients of the case management program over a longer period of time. The goal of this bachelor thesis named Dual diagnosis from the standpoint of social work is to shed light on what role a social worker has in the process of a patient's recovery and social rehabilitation from dual diagnosis. In addition to that, this thesis should clarify the position of a social worker in a multidisciplinary team and to describe dual diagnosis as a complex problem from the biopsychosocial standpoint. Both primary and secondary literature (printed and in the form of internet resources) were used as the theoretical framework of this thesis. The theoretical framework should primarily act as a guide to help better understand the phenomenon that is dual diagnosis in the context of social work. Qualitative interviews and case studies were then used as the practical framework for this bachelor thesis. The group of respondents is made up mainly by social workers, psychiatrists, adiktologists, and psychologists that work in the respective field. Self-efficacy in Patients with Dual Diagnose in the Final Phase of Psychiatric Hospitalization

The aim of this work was to explore the nature of self-efficacy construct in patients with dual diagnose in the final phase of psychiatric hospitalisation. In the theoretical part, three topics are discussed: the self-efficacy construct, hospitalisation, and specific mental disorders. In the empirical part a qualitative methodology, based on the elements of interpretative phenomenological analysis, was used. The research sample consists of 5 patients with dual diagnoses, and a psychologist treating these patients in the Department of Dual Diagnoses in Bohnice hospital. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with all participants. The presented results include a separate analysis of key topics for each participant, as well as an overall analysis of all data. A new perspective of self-efficacy is emerging, spreading through three distinct levels - intrapersonal, interpersonal, and systemic. Applications of art therapy in the dual disorders treatment

This bachelor thesis deals with possibilities and use of art therapeutic techniques on clients with dual diagnosis in therapeutic community Sejřek. It is focused on therapeutic methods which are used in treatment for drug addicts. The main goal of this thesis is the use of art therapy influence on self-knowledge development, self-worth awareness and communication development among clients in community. Theoretical part explains meaning of terms art therapy and dual diagnosis. Moreover, there is used art therapy on drug addicts and clients who use non-alcoholic drugs in Sejřek community. Thesis is focused on colour perception, art therapeutic relation and communication with clients. Also is focused on prevalence of dual disorders in Europe. Practical part deals with creative work, verbal and non-verbal communication with clients.
Role of addictologist in services specialized in treatment of eating disorders

Eating disorders are getting more and more attention in today's society. Mental anorexia and bulimia are considered to be widely spread problems among adolescent girls and young women. Studies estimate anorexia and bulimia to be present in around 4,5 % and 1,5 %-5 % of women population. There is a strong correlation between presence of any addictological disorder and eating disorder. If addictological disorder is to be present eating disorder is to be present in 35 % of all cases. Addiction treatment of both phenomena is usually separate although integrated treatment seems to be the most efficient. The goal of the study is to test the possible employment of an addictologist in eating disorders treatment services and outline possible role of and addictologist in therapeutic team. The goal is to be achieved through semi-structured interviews with employers of three therapeutic clinics Anabell in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. The semi- structured interviews were divided into specific areas. All the interviews were recorded and analysed afterwards. Open, axial and selective coding was used as a method of data analysis.
