Fridmanová, Milena ; Koubová, Alice (advisor) ; Nitsche, Martin (referee) ; Pokorný, Vít (referee)
Fridmanová, M.: Philosophical reflections of creative experience This dissertation is dedicated to the topic of the creative experience. The creative experience is not something "made" by us, but at the same time it does not occur without our activity and readiness. The basic question addressed by this dissertation is, how can we contribute to the process of being met by creative impulses and to the ability of grasping them and finally transforming them into a piece of art. The dissertation sets off from a premise that current notions of creativity are referring to a romantic conception, stating that the work of art is made by a genius creating through supernatural powers, which are beyond his personal grasp. In the 20th century, the creative experience has undergone a vast scientific examination, especially in the field of psychology; which confirmed that creativity is possessed by everyone and can be developed. This result raises the question, which aspects of the creative process can be affected and which cannot? The first chapters of the dissertation elaborate on the philosophical interpretation of three expositions of the creative experience - by Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Gadamer. The intention of this interpretation is to point to contradictory motives of individual conceptions....

Keywords: travelogue, 18th century, libertine culture, Italy, Egypte, Napoleon, Louvre. Number of characters: 121 846 (68 pages) The present thesis, Dominique Vivant Denon - From travels in Italy to the Louvre Museum is divided into two parts. The first one is a monograph on baron Vivant Denon, an important figure of the cultural life in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the author of Point de Lendemain, two travelogues, Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Égypte and Voyage en Sicile, but, primarily, Napoleon's advisor in the field of fine art and the first director of The Louvre. The introductory pages of the thesis deal with the reception of Denon's works. There is a certain flux in the perception of Denon's oeuvre which has given rise to a range of interesting issues. One of them, the popularity of the libertine culture of pre-revolutionary France in the second half of the twentieth century, accounts for the fact that the novella Point de Lendemain is today the best known piece among Denon's extensive and multifaceted writings. A shift in the perception of the travelogue as a literary genre in our time, when the remotest of places are accessible in hours, may be...
Is there a relation between arts and quality of life?
Krutská, Simona ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee)
This work discusses the potential of art to influence quality of life. The theoretical part introduces general aesthetic-psychological principles, thanks to which art work can appeal to us, having the goal of expressing what is typical and essential for art as a whole, and introduce art work as a place of meeting and a challenge for personal growth with the goal to distinguish it, through this characteristic, from other ways of spending free time. Furthermore, the theoretical part briefly introduces the development of the concept of quality of life including the definition of its overlapping to the philosophical anchoring in the conception of humanistic, phenomenological and positive psychology, and it presents research, which, at least indirectly, deals with the topic of art and quality of life. The actual research part compares the subjectively perceived quality of life of people interested in art (conservatory students, n = 73) with a comparative group (high school students, n = 66), with a focus on the present situation as well as future expectations. The research results show that the conservatory students attain higher values attesting higher perceived quality of life. However, in order to deduce the chain of causation it is necessary to conduct further research in this area.
