Current Trends in the French Children's Literature

The beginning section of this thesis named Current Trends in the French Children's Literature is focused on a terminology concerning key theoretical terms in children's literature. Further content is focused on the history of children's literature, including a brief overview of the period and examples of the key works. There is a list of Major international and French literary prizes given to authors of children's books. The complex relationship between author and reader was also examined. The next part of the thesis is primarily focused on a literary analysis of three French novels for teenagers published at the beginning of the 21st century: Toby Alone by Timothée de Fombelle, La vie, en gros by Mikaël Ollivier and Oscar and the Lady in Pink by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Emphasis is put not only on basic characteristics of contemporary children's literature but also on the singularity of these literary works. The problems of literary translation from French into a quite other language are covered in the final part of the thesis. The translator has to move a literary text into the target language and carry the distinctive character of a work, its idioms and tone. Reading Comprehension of Non-native Czech Language Speakers

(in English) This thesis discusses the methodology of teaching reading comprehension and using text in the process of teaching Czech for foreigners. It is aimed at developing an approach to teaching reading skills in language classes on the basis of contemporary literature on the subject and in offering structured exercises for utililizing this approach. The theoretical section of this thesis offers a complex analysis of the topic, approaches to evaluating text and developing reading competence in the process of teaching. The practical chapter Cvičení a aktivity (Exercises and Activities) illustrates, through example exercises and activities, how to teach particular aspects of reading competence on the basis of types of reading and reading strategies described in the theoretical and methodological framework of the thesis.

Preface as Nietzsche's authorial strategy

The thesis deals with prefaces to the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, especially with those he wrote retrospectively. The goal of the thesis is to state what purposes Nietzsche meant to achieve with his prefaces and what literary strategies he used to achieve these purposes. The core assumption of the thesis is that Nietzsche decided to utilize his copyright and used his prefaces as a means to establish himself as an author. My approach is based on 20th century literary theories dealing with the concept of "the author" and on approaching the preface as a self-contained genre. Aside from the various literary strategies Nietzsche used in his prefaces, I will also focus on the work Ecce Homo treating it as one great preface to the whole lifework of Nietzsche. Mezi nejvýznamnější šetřené ukazatele patří počet knihovních jednotek, registrovaných čtenářů, výpůjček, návštěvníků, zaměstnanců, ukazatele o hospodaření, počet vydávaných titulů periodických a neperiodických publikací, audio, videodokumentů a e-dokumentů, údaje o zasílání povinného výtisku a distribuci.
