Římanová, Jana ; Stöcklová, Anna (advisor) ; Souček, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the possibilities of innovation in the library of the Institute of Thermodynamics. Default section contains in the decomposition structure of the library system the analysis of current situation. In particular, the degree of automation of library processes and access to funds, including gray literature is observed. Other source material is a survey of information needs of employees of the institute. The key result of the survey was the detection of insufficient composition of the titles of periodicals in the library. A proposal of automation of implementations of library information system follows. A separate part is the proposal of efficient storage and access to research reports. In conclusion, there are outlined possibilities for further development.
Problem of Catalog Objectives in digital Environment
Drobíková, Barbora ; Papík, Richard (advisor) ; Souček, Jiří (referee) ; Planková, Jindra (referee)
Problem of catalog objectives in digital environment: development and trends in building library catalogs from the bibliographic point of view PhDr. Barbora Drobíková Abstract The aim of the thesis is to explore current trends in building library catalogs from the bibliographic point of view. It focuses on formulation and exploration of trends in bibliography which may influence the library catalogs in near future. The introductory part defines several basic terms. It deals with the catalog objectives and methodological and technological questions in brief. Larger chapters describe the conceptual models FRBR, FRAD and FRSAD and studies which bring these models. These studies show a new view on objectives of bibliographic and authority records, therefore on library catalogs objectives too. This part is closed by an own analysis of these models, their comparison with the object-oriented model FRBRoo including a proposal of FRAD's and FRSAD's implementation into an object-oriented form. Next chapters focus on the relation of bibliography and semantic web and especially on questions connected with a change of bibliographic paradigma and paradigma of the bibliographic control which are to occur with new semantic web technologies. The semantic web can enable new contexts of using of bibliographic data and...
Methodology for design of digital archives
Získal, Bohuš ; Souček, Jiří (advisor) ; Sklenák, Vilém (referee) ; Bratková, Eva (referee)
Bohuš Získal Methodology for design of digital archives Summary: This work examines how concepts and recommendations defined within the ISO 14721:2003 standard could be applied to archives in audiovisual industry and how its key components and processes relate to the corresponding structure of real production archives. A basic overview of audiovisual content formats, storage solutions and metadata structures is provided with respect to long time content preservation. The most common standards (international, industry and proprietary ones) specific for this area are discussed within the perspective of inevitable data migration process. As certain types of organisation have their archive deeply integrated in the production process and its functional and organisational parts could not be easily distinguished from the rest of the structure, the various approaches to the complex archive design are evaluated, including a brief introduction to MAM system role and implementation. The data migration to new solutions also means the integration with the existing technologies, where a rather higher level of dependence on commercially available solutions is often involved. As the interoperability standards are not widely adopted yet, some decisions are inevitably tied with previously adopted technologies. Changes in...

Information management of central state administration (comparative study)
Šidlichovská, Zuzana ; Očko, Petr (advisor) ; Souček, Jiří (referee)
The rigorous thesis is focused on information management of central state administration and on a way of analysing it. In the first part initial insight into the problem is provided and essential specifics which are related with the field of information management in public sector communication are described as well. Next the information audit as a useable tool for information management analysis is introduced. Susan Henczel's methodological approach of information audit process is described in more detail in order to apply this tool practically in the analytical part of the work. The second part of the master thesis is based on my own analysis of management of information activities and communication of two departments - the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the similar one in Sweden. The key part of this work is based on the practical information audit, which consists of three- phase research. In the first phase the research method of Mystery mailing is used to learn how central state administrative offices cope with different laws concerning information activities. In the second phase the research method of content analysis (based on selected SEO tools) of official websites is used. The last phase of research is focused on analysis of management and organization of internal and...
The Internet, New Media, and Islam: Production of Islamic Knowledge and Construction of Muslim Identity in the Digital Age
Šisler, Vít ; Papík, Richard (advisor) ; Souček, Jiří (referee) ; Kovács, Attila (referee)
This dissertation analyzes the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) and new media on the production of Islamic knowledge and the construction of Muslim identity in Muslim communities in the Arab world and Western Europe. Today we witness an unprecedented proliferation of ICT and new media in the Arab and Muslim world as well as growing interdependency of various media outlets. This process includes media that morph into each other, messages that migrate across boundaries, and social networks that utilize multiple technologies. The unanticipated assemblages formed by these media contribute simultaneously to preserving traditional cultural norms and religious values while unsettling the existing arrangements and promoting new organizational forms; appealing to a local audience while addressing transnational communities; and asserting conformity with established religious institutions while fueling fragmentation of authority and individualization of faith. Therefore, this dissertation aims to transcend the media-centric logic and to analyze the impact of ICT and new media in the light of the above-mentioned interdependency and hybridization within broader social, cultural and linguistic context. By doing so, it particularly focuses on two separate, yet simultaneously entangled,...
Hybrid-epistemický model kvantové mechaniky a možné řešení problému měření
Souček, Jiří
In this study we introduce and describe in details the hybrid-epistemic model for quantum mechanics. The main differences with respect to the standard model are following: (1) the measurement process is considered as an internal process inside quantum mechanics, i.e. it does not make a part of axioms and (2) the process of the observation of the state of the individual measuring system is introduced into axioms. The intrinsic measurement process is described in two variants (simplified and generalized). Our model contains hybrid, epistemic and hybrid-epistemic systems. Each hybrid system contains a unique orthogonal base composed from homogeneous (i.e. ontic) states. We show that in our model the measurement problem is consistently solvable. Our model represents the rational compromise between the Bohr’s view (the ontic model) and the Einstein’s view (the epistemic model).
