Fallibilism and Semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce
Macháček, Martin ; Karľa, Michal (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
This thesis consists of the analysis of Peirce's essays Questions Concering Certain Faculties Claimed for Man and Some Consequences of Four Incapacities focused on the genesis of fallibilism and its dependence on the theory of representation. Peirce's epistemological position here is articulated as a rejection of foundationalism and its conditions (e.g. intuition and introspection) that are understood to be unfounded hypotheses due the character of our knowledge of the outside world. The aim of this thesis is to find out how Peirce's epistemology can work without the certainty of foundationalism. Keywords: Peirce, fallibilism, representation, critique of foundationalism, inference, epistemology

The research focuses on the use of smartphone apps for goal-setting purposes and influence of the set goals on increasing the average daily number of steps. In the sample of 100 participants, a statistically significant effect of goal on the average number of steps performance was observed during a 28-day period of the study. An influence of different goal difficulty on performance was also questioned, without significant effect on performance to have been found.
Interactive Guide for Zoological Gardens
Macháček, Martin ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Hynek, Jiří (advisor)
Even though a large number of zoological gardens fall under CSZOO union, there has been no unified way of presenting and managing this information. This project solves this problem by creating a unifying information system for any zoological garden, together with a modern mobile application, which serves as a pocket guide and a clear source of information from this system. In addition to functionalities such as events calendar, species, exhibitions or announcements, an interactive map is a very important part. Implemented system together with public stateless API is based on the Lumen framework. Mobile application is cross-platform and is based on Cordova technology. In order to establish certain form of frontend architecture, both the information system web interface and mobile application use framework Vue.js. Interactive maps are implemented through library called Leaflet in combination with Mapbox technologies. The created solutions exist as basic building blocks for future expansions and development.
The Relationship between ortorexia nervosa and OCD symptoms in athletes
Fiurášková, Ivona ; Šporclová, Veronika (advisor) ; Macháček, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on orthorexia nervosa in connection with OCD. Theoretical part contains introduction, diagnostic criteria and methods of measuring. Increasing attention is given to risk groups and factors, which can affect the development of both disorders. Moreover, treatment options and comparison with other mental disorders are presented. The last part of theoretical part is focused on athletes in fitness centers, which are research subjects in the practical part of the thesis. The main goal of practical part is to find out connection between orthorexia nervosa and OCD in selected group of respondents (N=203). Main research survey has quantitative design. The ORTO-15 and Obsessive - Compulsive Inventory (OCI) surveys are used. Statistical analysis shows statistically significant correlation between orthorexia symptoms and obsessive - compulsive disorder symptoms. There is not any significant correlation between orthorexia and training frequency. However, there is statistically significant correlation between orthorexia symptoms and training frequency. The results also show that the occurrence of orthorexia is not sex-linked. Interviews with some responders have been added to research survey (N = 6). The gathered data were processed open coding and presented card unloading...

Bibliographic note Macháček Martin. Analysis of Free Trade Agreements Between European Union and Latin American Countries. 35. Bachelor thesis. Charles University, Fac- ulty of Social Sciences, Institute of Economic Studies. Supervisor Ing. Vilém Semerák M.A., Ph.D. Abstract The aim of this paper is to examine if free trade agreements between Latin American countries and the European Union have positive effect on trade flow between the two. For this purpose, we use gravity models, specifically Ordi- nary Least Squares and Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood estimations with time and country-pair fixed effects. We apply these methods on five studied countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. The results show that the agreements with the European Union for the first four mentioned countries have positive impact, although lower than the impact of other agreements signed by these countries. For Mexico, the effect is negative, which corresponds with the reports of the EU, which is negotiating modernization of their agreement. Vyhodnocení užitkovosti u masných plemen skotu
MACHÁČEK, Martin
This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the influences that affect meat production in cattle without market milk production. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the level of selected effects on the results of the performance of the monitored cattle herd. A selection of limousine breeds were selected, namely 78 calves born between December 2012 and January 2017 for a group of 20 breeds. The influence of lambs, childbirth, year of birth, monthly survey and the influence of the mother's exterior were chosen as selected effects on the meat performance of these calves. It was found that the influence of the child was the highest weight of calves since ZLI 739, which showed the best results in all controlled dates. These calves reached 365 days of average weight of 414.5 kg. Furthermore, it was found that the average calf weight after delivery at the first opening was 37.8 kg, and in subsequent rearing the weight of the body born at an average of 1 kg increased. Most calves were born in 2016, with 22 pieces. From the maternal exterior effect, it was found that the highest average weights in the monitored period of 120, 210 and 365 days reached the calves from the mothers with the highest score of the outside, despite the fact that these calves had the lowest average birth rate.
