Integration of a pupil with diagnosed autism into a secondary vocational school

This Thesis focuses on the integration of pupils with diagnosed autism into secondary vocational schools. The Thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part briefly summarises the development of knowledge concerning autism, contemporary conception of autism and its classification; it also involves chapters referring to the diagnostics of autism and to the educational possibilities of individuals who suffer from this disorder. The empiric part of the Thesis involves a case study in which a pupil suffering from Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) - unspecified (F 84.9) with transition to Asperger's syndrome was observed. The core of the empiric part is formed by this pupil's anamnesis, the evaluation and assessment of his abilities at basic and at a secondary vocational school, both on the theoretical and practical level. The case study analyses and appreciates here that the pupil with autistic disorders is given a chance to study at a secondary vocational school. In the end of the Thesis the pupil's future perspectives and work possibilities are assessed.

Musical abilities of childeren and young people as a pedagogical problem

Diplomová práce Je pojata jako kombinace teoretické studie a teoretickovýzkumných bloků. První část diplomové práce je teoretické povahy a odpovídá na základní otázky týkající se hudebních schopností dětí s důrazem na problematiku jejich měření a hodnocení. Pro lepší orientaci v oblasti hudebního školství a hudební pedagogiky je do teoretické části zahrnuta i část mapující historii a současnost hudebního školství v České republice. Výzkumná část diplomové práce je rozdělena na tři empirické bloky, jejichž cílem je měření hudebních schopností dětí a mládeže, reflexe hudebního prostředí v rodinách a dále zjištění stavu úrovně výuky hudební výchovy v současné škole. Pro jednotlivé výzkumné bloky jsou použity rozdílné metodologické nástroje. Výsledky těchto šetření včetně užitých postupů jsou podrobně rozpracovány spolu s obsáhlým zhodnocením jednotlivých okruhů a jevů. Tyto poznatky mohou sloužit k optimalizaci hudebně-výchovných koncepcí a k zavádění nových metod v hudebním vzdělávání dětí a mládeže.

The aim of my thesis is to obtain an insight into the field of specific learning disabilities. The thesis has the character of a summary and it mainly concerns the comparison of existing knowledge and approaches to children with specific learning disabilities. This thesis should be used not only for academical purposes; it also should enable the reader to underestand the term, cause, symptoms, reeducation of specific learning disabilities, which improves the understanding of the life of people with this disability.

The reginnings of higher education of women in Bohemia

This treatise deals with the subject of emancipation of Czech women in their struggle for higher education. First Part foreshadows the historic development of the position of the woman in the society from the earliest times to the end of the 18th century. Crucial is the part of the treatise describing the effort of the Czech women and men engaged in the struggle for secondary and tertiary female education. Focus is given mainly to the public school system. Private schools and associations and other institutions are mentioned marginally, in particular with regard to their importance during the subsequent evolution of the public school system. The efforts mentioned thereby are set in the social context of the region, in particular in the context of the national emancipation per se. Attention is given in part also to the conditions and circumstances of the similar struggle in the German and Jewish minorities living in the Czech lands. Finally, individual types of schools for women are dealt with, their particular organization and instruction, while pursuing their historical line up to the beginnings of the twentieth century.

Musicotherapy as the approach to personality self-integrity

My thesis is considering the theme of musicotherapy, the healing and development of personality by music. In the introduction there are outlined the basics and directing of conseption of musicotherapy, as it is understood and covered in this thesis work. The following part introduces general review and basic characteristics of musicotherapy as a field. It mentions historical contexts of the progress of this discipline and presents basic paradigms and consepts in present musicotherapy. Included is also the essential review of the present approaches and movements in musicotherapy. There is also a selection of present qualification and definitions of musicotherapy. This part is closed by disquisition on ways of work with a client from the aspect of the function of music and method of involving a client in the process of therapy. The crucial part of the thesis is dealing with the usage of the playing the piano in the music therapy . It brings the differencies in purposes and approaches of conseption of the playing the piano as an instrument of advancement and therapy and the playing the piano as a component of art education. Svou diplomovou práci jsem uvedla citátem Zdeňka Kratochvíla: "Výchova vede k dospělosti: vede ke svobodě a odpovědnosti, ke schopnosti orientovat se v bohatství různých možných pohledů na svět." Lidské společenství je více diversifikované, než si jedinec dovede představit. Je zřejmě velmi obtížné, aby člověk našel správnou cestu, která směřuje k vlastní svobodě spojené s odpovědností a zároveň stejnou míru svobody přiznává druhým - ale i od nich očekává dostatečnou míru odpovědnosti. Jsem přesvědčena, že svoboda i odpovědnost otevírají možnost k řešení otázek, jimiž jsem se zabývala a které vyúsťují v ústřední téma mé práce ve výchovu a vzdělávání pro sociální spravedlnost.

The influence of self-evaluation of the pupil with specific disorders of learning regarding the profession choice

Cílem diplomové práce je rozkrýt úroveň sebehodnocení, které vnímáme jako hodnocení sama sebe, vztah k sobě samému a součást sebepojetí. Konkrétně se v práci zaměřujeme na sebehodnocení žáků ve vztahu k výkonu v základní škole. Sebehodnocení považujeme za jeden ze základních prvků, které najdeme jen u lidské bytosti. Jedná se o specifický konstrukt, jenž je vlastní pouze člověku. Dále se v této práci zajímáme o žáka se specifickými poruchami učení (SPU). Zohledňujeme, v jaké instituci žáka se SPU chceme pozorovat, zda to bude žák individuálně integrovaný do běžné základní školy, či žák v běžné základní škole, ale ve speciální třídě, anebo to bude žák ze speciální školy. Nakonec jsme do výzkumného souboru vybrali žáky se SPU ze speciální Základní školy Integrál.

Vietnamese children at Czech schools

The bachelor work is focused on the topic of Vietnam children at the Czech education system. The first part of this work tries to mention cultural-historical background of the Vietnamese coming to the Czech Republic. It is concerning on the differences of the interethnical communication too. Second part of the work deals with the most important problems associated with the education of the Vietnam pupils and students and possibilities of their solution. This part also shows positives of the school as a factor of integration.

A roma child in foster care of a family belonging to majoritarian society

The thesis presents the results of qualitative research conducted in foster families raising Roma children. The data obtained during unstructured interviews was analyzed using both what is called a simple and a narrative analysis. The results of the simple and the narrative analysis are presented to show the effects of raising a Roma child on these white families. The results suggest that the life of such families is affected by racism in the society while the characteristics described as typical for the Romas do not influence the family life more than other individual characteristics of the children. Furthermore, the process of how children in care become adults is described. The major factors which influence the process are: a complicated search for identity, handicaps gained by the children in their past and their low self-esteem. It takes longer than is normally expected for these children to become stable and mature - often until they are between 25 and 30 years old. Separation, which is the most important part of this process, is painful both for the children and for their families. The foster parents usually adopt either positive or negative views according to the outcomes of this process.
