Leisure Culture in the Czech lands in Interwar Czechoslovakia on Example of Summer Apartments

This thesis is devoted to leisure time during interwar time (1918-1938). The main interest concentrates on phenomenon of visiting summer apartments and his character, perception in society and specific relationship to leisure time. Summer apartments were symbol of good status and were very popular among the middle class, but thesis is also dedicated to tramping and beginning of living at the cottage because of specific atmosphere of Czechoslovak republic in 1918-1938. Influence of Thomas and Jan Atonín Bata on the town Otrokovice development

Theme that I dealt in my dissertation with, concerns of my hometown Otrokovice and also to the region in which the city is located. Describes the development and building of this place,and especially of city districtsBaťov,which took place here in the 20th and 30 the last century. Under the leadership of brothers Tomas and Jan Antonín Bata here arose ideal industrial town, the only of its kind in the country. This is not qustion just about new town plan, but also a new type of labor and social relations. In my work I deal with not only the sociological impact of this process on indigenous peoples but also a new way of educating young people, the concept of discipline and the phenomenon of collective consciousness. I also asked myself about the sustainable development of Down Otrokovice to the environmental and economic, and their possible future. There is also a comparison with the nearby Zlin, where Bata began the process of transforming. Mentioned town is still the center of the region and tradition bearers of this system.
Phenomenon of Summer Apartments in the First Half of 20th Century

Summary: This work is dedicated to phenomenon of summer apartments in the 1st half of 20th century,especialy to village Senohraby, which was used mainly as an example. This work tries to show means of spending free time in summer resorts and means of entertainment specifically in the surroundings of Prague, because of it's nearness to capital city.Important part of this work is dedicated to question, what sorts of guests were spending times in this summer resorts. And this work also wants to show some aspects of life before First World War and during 1.st republic in Czechoslovakia.
Tailoring and Clothing Business as an Example of the Trade Enterprise in Rakovník in the First Half of the 20th Century

The topic of this thesis is dedicated to trade enterprise in Rakovník in the first half of the20th century with a focus on clothing and tailoring trade. In the first half of the 20th century the general politically-economical situation in Rakovník and its political district proved great changes in the development of the town, which also influenced the development of the trade enterprise. Local specialised trade authorities such as The Guild of Clothing, The Guild of the Dressmakers and The District Unity of Trade Guilds have been taken into consideration. Final conclusions, regarding the operation and the structure of the above mentioned authorities, have been assessed and compared to the results of a probe to the same domain in Beroun. Summarization of the results, achieved from the regional topics, might be classified among the complex schemes of general economic and social history. Processing this thesis has been built on heuristic analysis of the archival sources of The State District Archives in Rakovník and Beroun.
Supplying and Grocery Stores in Prague between the Two World Wars

The roots of Prague modernization process and traditional custom changes of Prague citizens can be found at the turn of the 20th century. The city founded new supplying institutions, the level of supervision of food quality and hygienic conditions of sale increased and new forms of selling pushed through. This process was interrupted by World War I. After the war ended and the new republic was formed, the City of Prague tried to return to pre-war traditional and reliable means of supplying and trade. However, only the foundation and development of Greater Prague encouraged the continuation and acceleration of the process of modernization and rationalization of city and grocery store supplying. At the same time as efforts to respond to the obsolescence and inflexibility of the existing store network the development of new forms of commerce emerged rapidly. Modern advertising was experiencing a massive boom and was using a number of new technologies in advertising campaigns. These changes affected the daily lives of the people of Prague. The Changes of agricultural Landscape of Microregion Sedlčany in the years 1850-1943

The thesis is focused on the economic situation development in the Sedlčany region from the first half of the 19th century till second half of the 20th century. The period observes changes from the agrarian landscape. At the end of period of the Second Czechoslovak Republic the landscape could be described as agrarian-industrial landscape. Traditionally, the Sedlčany region is considered industrially influenced. The presented thesis deals with confirmation or disproof of this idea. The research tries to find the potential focuses of dynamic economic development. If the focuses existed in the past, the research deals with comparison economic development of the Sedlčany region with other parts of Bohemia and finds the circumstances of the development. The economic situation of this area is located into wider context of the industrialization in the Czech countries during given period. Of course, the phenomenon of industrialization process relates to many factors, such as demographic development, transportation, trade, banking, agriculture and administrative activities. The production of shell buttons as a part of a clothing accessory has a long tradition in the Bohemia. In the past the production was situated into one centre - the Žirovnice city. At first it was a technical production with a big share of handmade work which changed to the factory production during the second half of the twentieth century. With other economical changes in the world, when the shell became more expensive and scarce, the production of shell buttons was reduced and replaced by the production from other resources. Producers of shell buttons in Žirovnice, which is the only one company here, try to make a button from artificial shell.
The development of Čedok in interwar period

Čedok was established on 21st July 1920. Czechoslovak travel and transport agency was founded by the Headquarters of municipal foreigners' alliances in Prague and Bohemia bank. Čedok originated with a support of the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Trade. The equity capital of Čedok in 1920 was 2515000 CZK. Each founding member of Čedok brought certain financial source to the company. In the ca se of the bank Bohemia it was 1 000 000 CZK and the property investment was 500 000 Kč. The above mentioned property investment included offices equipment in Prague, Brno, Bratislava and contracts with transoceanic offices like Compagnie General Transat1antique, Holland America Line a Triester Looyd. The headquarter brought in Čedok financial deposit of 15 000 CZK. The property investment of the headquarters was 1 000 000 CZK. It included offices equipment of the travel agencies in Praha, Brno, Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně, but mainly a contract with the Ministry of Railways about ticket selling outside of railway cash desks of Czechoslovak Railways. The contract was signed on 10th October 1920. The contract permited Čedok to sell travel tickets of Czechoslovak Railways outside station booking-offices. The way of consumerism in the interwar Czechoslovakia nn the example of consumption of coffee, cocoa, chocolate and tea.

Dissertation thesis discusses the consumption of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate in the interwar period in the Czechoslovakia. On the basis of statistical data and examination of archival sources comes with the definition of the middle classes of the population, which those commodities consumed. The thesis shows the distribution of consumption of commodities based on the survey in blue-collar and white-collar families. Furthermore provides insight into the lives of families, distribution of their spending and the size of income. It refers to the representation of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate in the consumer basket and shows the elasticity of the mentioned commodities. For the central part of the research of the dissertation thesis chose the Czech territory only, because here were without difficulty accessible data sources. The Dissertation thesis clarifies the causes of consuming cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate and concludes that each was consumed from another purpose, which resulted status of these commodities. Tea consumption has been designed especially for the higher classes of the population, chocolate bought mostly white-collar family, but over twenties speared consumption of chocolate products also among the middle and lower classes into the population. The chocolate products were subject to early 20s of the luxury tax. Cocoa was used in connection with cooking and baking, but families didnt use this product frequently. Coffee drank all layers of the population, but consumption was based on the social status of the consumer. Very frequently families consume rye coffee and chicory coffee. Dissertation thesis also highlights the regional differences between the classes, which were further intensified. Thesis examines in detail the amount of the duties of the commodity, which in the interwar period varied widely, and concludes that the duty to disproportionately increase the price of products and made it impossible for consumers to buy more of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate.
Current business environment of India and its relations with the Czech Republic

The bachelor's thesis focuses on India and aims for evaluation of its current business environment and its relations with the Czech Republic. The PEST analysis, which divides business environment in several fields: political, economic, social and technological; is used for this purpose. The strengths and weaknesses of the Indian business environment are identified on the basis of the analysis. The next part of the thesis pursues trade and economic cooperation of India and the Czech Republic and also seeks opportunities that Indian market can offer to Czech entrepreneurs.
