Educating about financial literacy at primary schools

This master's thesis focuses on the teaching of financial literacy at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The main goal was to characterize and evaluate a selection of internet based programs that specialize in financial literacy in order to gain insight on how the users view the issue at hand and how they interact with these programs. The thesis employs a qualitative research method. The first section is devoted to the theoretical introduction to finance, its definition, characteristics and the components of financial literacy. A special focus was also put on the development of financial literacy in the Czech Republic and the main documents in which it is grounded. The need for implementation of financial literacy into secondary schools' curriculums was based on surveys about the level of financial literacy among students and public. The practical part of this thesis consists of two closely interrelated sections. Firstly, it outlines and examines three different online programs created to help teachers design their financial literacy courses more effectively. Financial Mathematics in High Schools

The thesis is dealing with the current state of teaching financial literacy and financial mathematics at high schools. The purpose of this thesis is to sum up information about documents that are source for teaching of financial literacy and to inform about current state of its teaching at high schools. Theoretical part concerns with involving of financial mathematics in framework education programme. This part also shows what subjects are involving financial mathematics. Practical part is dedicated to research, which had been realised at selected high school - Technical high school of food technologies, which follows "Food analysis" and "Environmental ecology" FEP. Level of students in financial mathematics is detected though the questionnaire carried out at the chosen school. Using a questionnaire and test. Financial literacy and its inclusion in the curriculum of practical primary schools

The theoretical part of the diploma work defines intellectual disabilities, as well as the possibilities of counselling and educating of pupils with mental disabilities. Further, the thesis discusses education and re-education of pupils with diagnosed mental retardation. It outlines the inclusion of financial literacy into the curricular documents intended for pupils with a mental disability across educational areas with emphasis on mathematics. The thesis introduces materials and their parameters suitable for the inclusion of financial literacy at practical primary schools. The practical part covers experimental education of individual thematic topics of financial literacy at practical primary schools. The carried out initial diagnostics of pupils at a selected practical primary school focused on percentages, simple interest and a family budget. This diagnostics had a general character, as was also verified. Furthermore, the thesis presents a detailed record from own executed teaching with regard to four monitored pupils, including their casuistry. Rationality of the Debtor

This work deals with the indebtedness of consumers. It examines the causes of the debotrs themselves. Based on a secondary analysis of past research in the area of financial literacy, consumer behavior, statistical data, but also of qualitative research in the form of case study seeks to answer the question why the debtor becomes the debtor, the extent to which the indebtedness and indebtedness viewed as rational behavior but also if the debtor is accompanied by rational reasoning or irrational behavior. It concludes that the debtor can not be considered entirely rational. Applied policy then the issue of over-indebtedness problem takes into account the irrational assumptions by the debtor only marginally and does not reflect as one of its main causes.
Questions of Economics Understanding of Primary School Students

BARTAKOVIČOVÁ, Sylva. Questions of Economics Understanding of Primary School Students. Prague, 2014. Diploma thesis. UK, PedF. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the economic thinking of third grade students in primary school. On the basis of identified deficiencies, a set of ideas leading to more effective teaching is proposed. The theoretical section includes an examination of the state of economic thinking in primary school pupils in the Czech Republic and abroad. This explains the present form of financial education in the Czech Republic, and examines children's understanding, particularly in relation to constructivism. The practical section describes the preparation and implementation of qualitative research in the form of semi-structured individual interviews with pupils in their 3rd year, and 1st grade of primary school. In the conclusion, a set of ideas aimed to develop the financial thought processes of younger school students, supplement their knowledge, and strengthen their overall economic thinking, is proposed.

The bachelor thesis Current Problem of Over-indebtedness and its Social Consequences provides the reader insight into a relatively new and still more topical socio- economic theme . Live in debt author considers as main problem related to indebtedness and explains it as a high-risk societal phenomenon. Attention is focused on the person, who may be, or already is acutely affected by this issue . Such a person is always individuality but absorb the features of its cultural background. The theoretical part deals with the use of live resources which can be understood as money, natural wealth or personal potential. The methods of their use always depends on the habits of the whole social environment in which the debtor lives . The last part provides six living testimonies of the people who are affected by the Over-indebtedness right now.
Social Context of Personal Bankruptcy Debtors in the Central Region

Major aim of this bachelor thesis is to discuss the issue of debtors that apply for personal bankruptcy. Region wise will this paper cover the Central Bohemian region and the debtors living in this area. Theoretical part explains the main theories and processes that are crucial for understanding the issue of insolvency. Further will be introduced the insolvency law; and the reasons and factors that lead to a personal indebtedness and a personal bankruptcy. The practical part focuses on debtors from the Central Bohemian Region and provides thorough characteristics of these debtors. Several case studies will be presented, in order to demonstrate the reasons for indebtedness and to depict the insolvency process on the real cases. Economic Literacy of Headmaster

This diploma thesis deals with examining the economic literacy of a headmaster. The topic has been chosen because of the belief that a good financial management is important for the development of a school. Another reason for the choice is the fact that there is virtually no set of unambiguously defined responsibilities and no set of suggested knowledge in the economic area which would provide guidance for headmaster in his work. The aim of the theoretical part is to find the necessary information, to define the key terms and to place the economics of the school management into the legislative framework. The practical (research) part examines the actual state of knowledge and the activity of headmasters in the financial management of the school. The difficulty, the risk of financial management in relation to other managerial activities and the comparability of different types and sizes of schools are also examined here. The outcome of this thesis is to give the definition and the content of the economic and financial literacy of a headmaster. It is also to determine the level of the financial literacy of the interviewed headmasters.
