Bilingualism - Symmetry and asymmetry in the linguistic development of bilingual children. Decisive factors among siblings in a bilingual family.

The present Bachelor thesis deals with the general approaches and diverse forms of bilingual education of siblings in a bilingual family. The different research approaches will be defined in the work and their specific differences will be described. In the theoretical part of the Bachelor thesis is the comparison of scientific studies about the so-called mixed bilingualism from the perspective of different linguists. On section is dedicated to refute myths about early bilingualism that bear scientific grounds. The practical part of the Bachelor thesis is based on the collection of information in multilingual families with at least one parent whose native language is not the language of the social environ of the children. Part of the analysis is to create an accurate profile of the families in order to better describe and distinguish the specific results of the different families. The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to state important factors that can lead to an advanced symmetrical or asymmetrical use of the languages for bilingual children, as well as to inspire bilingual families with the case studies on what approach can be used to raise bilingual children.

Koryŏmal - Dialect of the Korean Minority in Kazakhstan

The aim of this thesis is to present the language situation of the Korean minority in Kazakhstan. Korean dialect used by local Koreans is called Koryǒmal and after 150 years of separate life of this minority became very different from the standard Korean. The thesis describes the circumstances of its creation, the main differences from today's standard Seoul Korean, the current situation and the frequency of the use on the territory of Kazakhstan. Bilingualism of Russian speaking immigrants in the Czech Republic

(in English): This diploma thesis is focused on the Russian-speaking immigrants living in the Czech Republic, specifically on a group of those originating in Ukraine. It deals mainly with their speech behaviour during speeches in the language of the target country of their emigration, i.e., the Czech language, on the background of sociological, cultural and economic aspects. The thesis is divided into three basic chapters. The first chapter provides a brief description of the Russian-speaking emigration with the emphasis on the Ukrainian emigration. The main waves of the Ukrainian emigration from the end of 19th century to the present are described in this chapter. The target group of the study is the Ukrainian emigration after the fall of the communist regime in 1989 which is mainly concerned about the immigration of Czech compatriots and of labour emigration. Basic research strategies and the methodology of the study are described in the second chapter. Mainly qualitative research methods as well as quantitative methods were used in the thesis and the results of the quantitative method serve primarily to ensure the validity of the study during the linguistic analysis of individual respondents. Language practice of Bulgarian speakers in Czech linguistic environment

in English This work consists of five chapters: a theoretical part, which specifies the theoretical basis of the text (especially concepts related to bilingualism and language contact); methodological part, which specifies the objectives and methods of field research (identification of target group, subject of research, qualitative and quantitative methods, technical part of the survey); historical part relating to the origin and life of the Bulgarian minority in the Czech Republic; sociolinguistic part analyzing the sociolinguistic influences of Czech language on Bulgarian language; language part, analyzing the interference from language perspective. The influence of the Galician language on the Castilian language - interferences and borrowings

As the name suggests, the main theme of the present work is the influence the Galician language has on the Spanish language system. In more detail the work also deals with specific phenomens which penetrate into the Castilian language spoken in Galicia creating a new variety of Spanish, which is typical for given region. In addition to the aforementioned aspects, we encounter in this work the matter of the influence Spanish has on Galician and we also discuss some theoretical questions. The work addresses such problems as definition of language and dialect, matters of diglossia and bilingualism and explanation of some linguistic terms, e.g. interference and integration.

Analysis of spoken Czech at the Russian speaking Ethnic

The work deals with the analysis of spoken Czech by Russian-speaking foreigners living in the Czech Republic. Based on the transcript of oral manifestations are captured and described grammatical, pronunciation and stylistic errors that occurred in their speech. It is also briefly described the history of emigration by Russian-speaking foreigners in the Czech lands and collected basic statistical and sociological data. How to become bilingual: Process of acquisition of second language at different ages

Title of the thesis: How to become bilingual : Process of acquisition of second language at different ages This bachelor thesis deals with the development of bilingualism. The objective of this work is to show how we become bilingual at different ages and prove that the process of learning a second language is not the same at every age of life. The work builds the solution on the theories of linguists and on the practical research which is presented in the form of the case studies and analysis of language speech. The first chapter of the work is focused on the definition of bilingualism and the second one is about the types of this phenomenon. The third chapter presents the process of language acquisition. Individual parts of this chapter deal with the process of language acquisition of the mother tongue by monolingual children, further the simultaneous acquisition of two languages from birth, the process of acquisition by the children who integrate a second language between 3 - 6 years and finally the acquisition of a second language by the persons after 6 years. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the phenomena which are associated with the bilingualism. A n o t a t i o n This thesis deals with the development of speech in children growing up in a bilingual environment. The aim is to explain the basic concepts related to bilingualism, describe in detail strategies of bilingual education and describe the specifics of speech development of children growing up in a bilingual environment. I would like to broaden the community understanding about bilingualism and summarize new ideas and information for parents who are considering a bilingual or multilingual education. Theoretical knowledge is used in the practical part of this thesis, which examines and compares the differences in the speech development of children growing up with two or more languages against children who grow up with only one mother tongue.
