Academic Quality or Distance?: Effects of global ranking and geographical distance on academic mobility utilizing gravity and radiation models
Repko, Šimon ; Macháček, Vít (advisor) ; Špolcová, Dominika (referee)
Mediators of scientific knowledge are currently large scientific citation databases and platforms build upon them as they have conquered the role of the librarians in the digital environment. Direct utilization of bibliographic data for analysis of international academic mobility helps to gain insight into behavior of high impact international scholars. Geographic structure of global academia facilitates exploration of the prospect that Gravity and Radiation models can be complements to each other. In addition, author challenges role of university rankings as a principal driver of decision-making process for academic mobility.

Teaching-space paradigm
Belopotocký, Maroš ; Bureš, David (referee) ; Sládeček, Svatopluk (advisor)
The task of the bachelor's thesis is to design the completion of the Faculty of Architecture in the BUT campus in the Brno-centre district between Úvoz, Údolní and Tvrdého streets, due to the planned transfer of the faculty from the current premises on Poříčí Street. The issue of completion allows for the expansion of the faculty premises and the addition of capacities for which the current situation no longer has a place. The project also addresses the use of the original historic buildings and the connection of the Faculty of Architecture with the Faculty of Fine Arts within one area.
Teaching-space paradigm
Vašička, Pavel ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to create a new Faculty of Architecture in close proximity to the Faculty of Fine Arts on the BUT campus. The aim was to achieve a dignified environment for teaching future architects. In the complex there is a building designed for the Faculty of Architecture. However, it does not have sufficient capacity to cover teaching needs. Therefore, both the existing building and the extension and their interconnection were solved within the project. The main goal of the project was to create an environment that reflects today. The architect in particular should have a more general overview. The premises are as open and shared as possible, so that the students themselves enrich each other as much as possible. Emphasis is placed on the open layout of the interior, into which the exterior blends in selected places, the floors are enriched with atriums and elevated floors, which allow greater social contact.

What should the current area of higher education be like? And what should be the space for creative work? Is the type of teaching reflected in the school building itself? I wonder if, for example, the Faculty of Social Studies would be made up only of social spaces? If the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were to look like a hall for the production of automotive components, what would the Faculty of Legal Studies look like? And what about the Faculty of Architecture? Does the appearance and quality of the building determine the appearance of the projects created there? Does its structure affect the next generation of architects? Or should it be as clean and white as canvas before the first stroke of the brush is projected on it? I deal with both assumptions: the building as a pure paper, which gives freedom for creativity and does not limit the mind, and on the other hand, matter, structure, space, which shows what architecture can do. I prefer freedom of choice, which is why I want to describe both approaches in the proposal. Open-space free layout versus firmly defined closed studios. Artistic space, free versus technically and rationally defined space. Virtual space versus space of unchanging matter.

Competences of senior academics at the educational organization
Doležalová, Helena ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor) ; Veteška, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the definition of the term competence and competency model of a senior academic at a university. The term "competence" can be understood as a set of knowledge, skills, abilities, habits, attitudes and values of a given individual that enable him/her to perform "with competence" in some area of his/her activity. It is also possible to describe in this way the ability of a person to act correctly in a certain situation based on the use of their own resources (abilities, skills, knowledge, etc.). The definitions of competencies of staff working in educational institutions are important not only in the curriculum, where the individual in the educational field affects the personal development of individuals or groups, but also in terms of staff hierarchy, including the definition of responsibilities and competences. The thesis defines such terms as executive and university; this type of schools can be further divided into public, state and private universities. The diploma thesis analyzes the competences of senior academics at the university, deans of faculties and heads of departments/institutes, examined on a sample of public universities based in Prague. These competences are then compared with each other, it is a comparison of the competencies of the deans of the faculties and...
