Digital technologies - development of instructional materials for Grade 6-9 students
Šmíd, Radek ; Brom, Cyril (advisor) ; Černochová, Miroslava (referee)
In 2023, a revision of the Czech national curriculum came into force. The main change was the replacement of the educational area "information and communi- cation technologies" with "computer science". The new curriculum was supported by new educational materials. However, few of these were devoted to the "digital technologies" part of the curriculum. In this thesis we have created new mate- rials that fill this gap. Specifically, we created four worksheets that explain the structure and principles of the Internet. The sheets can, for example, be handed out to students or printed as a poster. The validation of the didactic qualities of the sheets was carried out in two phases: individual interviews and classroom testing. During the first phase, we interviewed fifteen pupils (ISCED-2). The stu- dents first described what they saw using the think aloud method. Then they were questioned about information contained in the sheets. We used the transcripts of the pupils' interviews to improve the clarity of the materials. During the second phase, classroom testing was conducted by giving the finished sheets to a sample of 92 students (age 11-14) to study (20 minutes). We tested students' knowledge using pre and post tests. Statistical analysis of the results revealed a positive effect of studying the sheets on...
Assessment of high school students in computer science education
Círal Sedláček, Martin ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis concerns the assessment and evaluation of secondary school students in computer science subjects in the Information Technology 18-20-M/01 field of study in the Czech Republic. There is no methodology readily available for the teachers of informatics-oriented subjects to assess and evaluate students, and the teachers adapt the assessment to their own needs as well as the conditions of the particular school. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to introduce the issue of assessment and evaluation, based on the analysis of literature on the issue of school assessment and evaluation at secondary schools in IT-oriented subjects. The theoretical part of the thesis describes theoretical knowledge in the field of student assessment and evaluation. The possibilities and types of assessment and evaluation, together with methodological approaches to those, are presented, along with their use, advantages, and disadvantages. The findings are supported by professional literature, and further interpreted. The aim of the practical part is to observe how teachers evaluate students in IT-oriented subjects, what methods and approaches they apply in individual subjects, how they approach the evaluation of the learning outcomes and their students' work. The research was conducted on n = 63...
Digital literacy in Computer science
Pečenka, Jakub ; Vaňková, Petra (advisor) ; Leipert, Jiří (referee)
The subject of this diploma thesis is the investigation of digital literacy in the field of Informatics. The concepts of digital literacy, digital competence and the framework of digital competence are explained in the theoretical part. These frameworks, which are used to define and assess digital competences in more detail, are subsequently analysed, described, and compared with each other. Then, based on chosen sources, the digital literacy of current Czech teachers is described. Furthermore, the currently ongoing revision of school educational programmes for primary schools is described, which adds digital competence to the educational programmes for primary schools and replaces the educational field "Information and communication technology" with the new educational field "Informatics". At the end of the theoretical part, the available materials for the preparation of Informatics learning activities in accordance with the mentioned revision are analysed. In the practical part, fifteen learning activities are proposed for the lessons of the new Informatics for various classes of the second grade of primary schools. The activities are divided into the four categories mentioned in the revision: "Data, information and modelling", "Algorithmizing and programming", "Information systems" and "Digital...
Function and using textbooks for Informatics and ICT subjects in secondary vocational schools in the Czech Republic
Soucha, Filip ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Neumajer, Ondřej (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to ascertain if the secondary vocational school students and teachers use printed textbooks in their ICT lessons, how they use them alternatively, what are their reasons not to use them. Lastly, if there is any notion about the ideal textbook for ICT classes. The theoretical part deals with the textbook concept and also discusses the contemporary status of printed textbooks. The research presents the results of quantitative survey performed among the pupils n=188 of a particular secondary vocational school and the teachers of various secondary vocational schools. The research was carried out via the questionnaires - the one for learners consisted of 15 items, the other for teachers consisted of 16 items. We found out that the textbooks are neither required nor needed by students and teachers alike however, some teachers utilize them as a support for the planning of their own teaching process. Nevertheless, they would appreciate the set of several textbook focused on specific fields. On the contrary, the students do not even have any suggestion of the ideal textbook concept, they are likely to be overwhelmed by the modern technologies.
