Pedagogical aspects in the preparation of future foster parents in the Czech Republic

The thesis is devoted to the topic of preparatory courses for applicants for foster care. The aim of the thesis is to chart the course of professional preparation of future foster parents and replenish their subjective opinions. The theoretical part refers to the current legislative changes affecting the area of foster care in the Czech republic. It also deals with topics closely related to foster care, such as kinship care, contact with the biological parents or the identity of children in foster care. The following section is focused on the analysis of available training programs for foster parents, their specifics and the related methodological recommendations of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. Practical work was supported by DC Paprsek. By the form of semi-structured interviews with applicants for foster care was studied their subjective view of the importance and effectiveness of training courses.
Tthe personality of foster parent in the system of the substitute family care in the Czech Republic

Thesis deals with the personality of foster parents in the current systém of the substitute family care in the Czech republic. The theoretical part describes the current substitute care system in our country, the specifics of foster care and the role of psychologists in the mediation process and subsequent implementation of foster care for children. All of these topics are presented based on the study of professional domestic and foreign sources and are contextualized topic personality of foster parent. The current system in alternative foster care for vulnerable children

My dissertation work deals with substitute foster care. It's mainly focused on summary of changes in law in the current systém and their contribution to practice. The main goal was to map out the area of substitute foster care from the very first references of foundlings of Bohemia and Moravia. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters that include history, reason of changes from the UN to the amendment of laws and their implementation. Further I describe all forms of substitute foster care in Czech republic including financing and education of foster parents. The last chapter of theoretical part I focused on the substitute foster care system in the UK which is the model for a similar system in the Czech republic. The practical part is dedicated to qualitative research that tries by using the semi-structured interviews to find out how the mentioned changes work in praxis and how they affect the work of social workers and foster parents. The praxis shows that the amendment helps the healthy development of the child however the praxis lacks a coherent tools of social work to its proper fulfillment and functionality.

This diploma thesis deals with the institute of foster care. Foster care has been a widely discussed issue lately, in the field of family law. After years of theoretical considerations, discussions and preparations, a lot of significant changes have been made in this area, which have been incorporated into the new Civil Code and have been defined by the Amendment No. 401/2012 of the Coll., of the Act on Social-Legal Protection of children. The main objective of such changes is to professionalize foster care, and thus create an alternative to institutional care, to make foster care work in a more efficient way, to lower the risks of failure in daily practice, and to increase a notion of such form of substitute care in public. On the very top of general ideas and considerations remains especially the best interest and well being of a foster child. The emphasis is laid on the child's right to grow up in a background of a family and on help provided to a family with an endangered child. The diploma thesis is divided into seventeen chapters. The system of care for vulnerable children and amendment to the Act on Social and Legal Protection of Children in the reflection of key stakeholders

The thesis "System of care for vulnerable children and amendment to the Act on Social and Legal Protection of Children in the reflection of key stakeholders" deals with attitudes of actors involved in the issue of care for vulnerable children towards existing state of system of care for vulnerable children, pros and cons of its partial aspects, as perceived by actors from their point of view. Attention is also focused on the process of change that is sphere of care for vulnerable children currently undergoing in connection with the adoption of the amendment to the Act on Social and Legal Protection of Children, which entered into force on January 1st 2013. Based on the knowledge gained through expert interviews, opinions of actors are illustrated both of the comprehensive conception of the amendment, as well as of relation to its individual measures. Problematics of foster care provided by relatives

This bachelor thesis is concentrated on the foster care provided by grandparents. This type of foster care has its own specificities, which are introduced in this thesis. It describes the historical development of foster care, the process of formation and progress and further represents the foster care provided by substitute family care given by relatives aimed at grandparents. It also characterizes the role of social worker of social and legal protection of children (OSPOD) and social worker of accompanying organization. The aim of the thesis is to present the issues of foster care provided by grandparents in a specific way which would provide a brief and comprehensive overview of the specificities of the foster care primarily focused on grandparents. The thesis is supplemented by practical examples.

Foster care for a temporary period

FOSTER CARE FOR A TEMPORARY PERIOD This thesis describes and critically judges the legal regulation, practice and purpose of foster care for a temporary period in the Czech Republic. Children temporarily or permanently deprived of their family environment or children, who cannot be left in such environment, are entitled to a special protection and assistance granted by the state in one of alternative care forms. The Czech Republic is criticized for a long time by the international organizations because of numbers of children placed in any type of institutional care. Consequently, the amendment of the Act N. 359/1999 Coll., on social and legal protection of children, has been approved in June 2006. This amendment has established a new legal institute called "the foster care for a temporary period". The function of this institute is to avoid a placement of children to an institutional care in the case, when the children can not stay in the original family because of whatever reason however there is a presumption of re-entry to that original family.
