The development of art and its attitude to society in work of Friedrich Nietzsche and Theodor Adorno
Váňová, Veronika ; Holeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Paulíček, Miroslav (referee)
1 Abstract Friedrich Nietzsche's work is interwoven with his idea that all art is formed by two deities, the two elements, Apollonian and Dionysian. Apollonian element, the world of individuation is a beautiful picture and a dream world, Dionysian element, the world unity, is the thunderous roaring tone music. Top art was in the form of Greek tragedy, it was perfect harmony of both elements. The art was at that time, the most perfect from all its parts of development. However, there have been thoughts, uncomprehending beauty of both forces and wanted to destroy them. All aspects of life events have been understood historically, critically, objectively, everything has been secular. Newly created form of the art, which can not be regarded as true art, because it lacks the elements of art, was called attic comedy. Contemporary culture is based on ideas that belong among others to Socrates and so it is called Socratic. Culture has the opportunity to recover and help the rebirth of true art, just listen Dionysus singing, which is already awake and must be just detected and informed. Theodor Adorno speaks about the mass society, which, through monopoly controls all that happens in it. The society is doing exactly what monopoly wants. Society is material, without imagination, the ability to experience, ability to...
World of Children as Media Users
Kalivodová, Hana ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Wolák, Radim (referee)
This dissertation consists of two parts - a theoretical and an analytical, empirical part. In the theoretical segment, there is a summary of theoretical knowledge about celebrities and their relationship to society and the public, a comparison between celebrities and real authorities, an overview of mass-communication and its influence on the socialisation of children and a series of advantages and disadvantages of the impact of mass-communication on children. The final stage of the theoretical segment characterises, from the point of view of developmental psychology, the two age groups that will be compared in the second segment. The empirical segment answers such questions as how much do children use media in their leisure time, what types of media are most popular amongst them, which celebrities do the children admire and why are these celebrities important for them in particular. The empirical segment is based on analysis of data taken from questionnaires created purposely for qualitative-quantitative research. These questionnaires were given to students in the 4th and 6th grades of an elementary school in Polepy in the Czech Republic (ages 10/11 and 12/13 respectively). The goal of this dissertation is to show the trending habits of children as mass- media users.

This work analyses the American family in context of society and its demands. It focuses on the cannonical works of the Modern American drama, namely plays of Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Edward Albee, Sam Shepard and David Mamet. The playwrights are analysed in two distinctive groups according to similar themes they share. Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller depict the family under increasing pressure from the outside as well from the inside. The unit disintegrates, members of the family escape and thus the unit loses its funtions. The pressure is imposed by the tenets of the American mythology that governs the society, which, in turn, influences the family. The common theme of the first group of playwrights is the feeling of loss. This comprises of two dimensions - spatial and tempoval. The second group of playwrights share the same theme of loss with its spatial and temporal implications. They are characteristic by their distinctive use of language that depicts the prevalent sense of doom, apocalypse, futility and sterility. The search for identity is also implied by the restlessness of characters. The detrimental effect of harsh business environment on the family is explored with regards to masculinity. The deuterocanonical books and addictions to Esther and Daniel are taken into account too. A list of the female characters and the interpretation of their names proves not only that there are many of them but also their importance. The classification suggested by this thesis is based on women's role in the story of our salvation and representative examples of these characters show their typical features as well as the personal ones. The characters are further described by means of the theological and historical context. Conclusions of these analyses are confronted with the commonly shared views and stereotypes in particular because of their claim that the Bible strongly promotes the patriarchal life concept. The author has concluded that the female characters in the Bible are much more important than people commonly think. Biblical authors naturally shared the patriarchal view of the world, in spite of it we can assume that they didn't belittle the importance of women. T
