Visualition of Great War in the Weekly Světozor

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of imaging of Great War in czech weekly "Světozor". It will examine how much space during years 1914-1918 is given to war events, what sides of the war conflict are shown and with what frequency. The thesis also wants to cover whether there is any change in the manner of imaging during the course of the war. Last section of the thesis will be on the topic how could the reader perceive the Great War based on the photographs of this weekly.
"Enemies or Allies"? Contribution to the British-German Relations before the First World War

This text analyses selected affairs that shaped the relations between Great Britain and Germany in years preceding the Great War: since the very beginning of the 1890s until the outbreak of the War. It also depicts both countries in matters of constitution, domestic politics, economy, army, navy and selected affairs of their international relations that influenced the country's international politics. The main source for writing this text was history books by mostly Czech and Anglo-Saxon authors. A collection of state documents and papers was used as a source, as well as some newspaper articles.
Novel Demian in Historical Context of its Era, its Inspirational Sources, and its Influence in Time of its Publishing

The thesis focuses on the detailed analysis of the novel Demian by Hermann Hesse. The novel is analysed in the historical context of the book with consideration to the private life of the author. Carl Gustav Jung's psychoanalysis and Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy are noted as the main inspiration sources. A comparative study of British, French, and Austro-Hungarian pictorial propaganda during World war 1 in years 1914-1915

English abstract The master's thesis compares aspects of British, French, and Austro-Hungarian pictorial propaganda at the beginning of the Great War and its argumentation and influence. By comparing 100 propaganda pictures (ex. various posters, newspaper illustrations, postcards, etc.) made by each of the countries, the thesis describes various image distinctions in three areas of research: concerning the dominant motives of the posters, concerning the human values and emotions, which the posters influenced, and concerning the usage of national signs in these media. It explores most important contexts and conditions which framed the process. These are the Czech, Austrian and international female suffrage movements, the mutual relations of the Czech women's emancipation movement with political parties, including the progressive incorporation of women's rights and agendas in party programmes, and the profound impacts of the First World War on gender relations both in private and public spheres. Integration and everyday life of Italian refugees exiled to Northern Bohemia in the First World War :a microhistorical look at the daily experience of Sannicoló in Jablonné v Podještědí

The purpose of the thesis is to look at the reality of an Italian-speaking refugee during the First World War, when people were forced to evacuate the Trentino region and were moved within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The thesis will look closely at the diary of an Italian-speaking refugee, starting with his evacuation from Trentino and continuing to his arrival and permanence in the northern Bohemian city of Jablonné v Podještědí. The paper will also explore the internal migration movements and efforts made by the Habsburg Empire, with special regard to the experiences of Italian- speaking refugees. The diary of the man known as Sannicoló will be used to give a microhistorical study and perspective of his move from Rovereto, Italy to the city of Jablonné v Podještědí. His reality as an Italian-speaking refugee and citizen of the Habsburg Empire will be briefly compared with what is generally known of the refugee situation within the Austro-Hungarian Empire and that of other Italian- speaking refugees, to determine the degree of success of his integration into the local population's community. History in computer games: case study on "Valiant Hearts: The Great War"

This thesis is a case study analysis of the visualization of history in computer games. The analyzed game, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, was published by the French company Ubisoft in 2014. The game is set in The First World War and was developed in cooperation with The Centenary Parnership Proram. The main goals of the thesis are following: First, determine if the vision of history in the game reflects the current paradigms of French historiography of The First World War. Second, to identify and to interpret particularities and deformations in the way the game recreates history. The first, theoretical chapter presents the phenomenon of The First World War in the French context, the study of computer games and the methodology of the analysis. For the analysis I have created my own methodology which combines various approaches used elsewhere. Chapter 2 contains the analysis, which is further structured into the analysis of the story from the perspective of the main characters and locations (2.1), analysis of the object inventory and the in game miniencyclopedia (2.2), and the analysis of game's style and form -the graphic and audio style, along with the issue of player freedom (2.3). Tobacco and cigarette during First World War

7 Abstract The theme of smoking and tobacco products in the First World War was so far only marginally reflected in the Czech Republic. This thesis is aimed to at least partially cover the up to now neglected topic. It pursues the habit of smoking, which is largely associated with soldiers, as it entered the mainstream society with culmination of this process during the period of First World War. It also covers the experience of war and the relationship of smoking to soldiers, along with its use in advertisement and propaganda. Examining the sources of personal nature with both domestic and foreign origin joins with the study of visual sources in combination with knowledge of the fields of medicine, psychology and sociology.
Socio-economic Transformation of Sport Societies and Formation of Football Clubs in Prague Cities and Suburbs before 1914

The most popular game all over the world has entered the territory of Bohemia already in the last decades of the 19th century, when especially in the cities and suburbs of Prague many Czech or German societies engaged in new game from England called "football" was founded. Sudden and long lasting interruption of positive development of young sport by mobilization in the summer of 1914 and deep political and social changes after conflict isolated prewar events and made quite unique relict environment that creates the main sources for ideas of work. However chapters leaving sport performances aside and try to describe the period culminating after year 1900, when profesional player was born of student-enthusiast and when club loyalities based on nationality or social inclusion of spectator have been created. To achive a comprehensive view is also important to describe ideological orientation and economy of clubs, topography of Prague grounds or relationships between biggest clubs - SK Slavia, AC Sparta, SK Viktoria Žižkov and Deutscher Fussball Club Prag, which was litmus paper of attitudes with German etnicity.
