Ota Pavel's Fictionalized Reportages from Sports Environment
Linhart, Jiří ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Hájek, Roman (referee)
In this thesis I work with four books by Ota Pavel. These are following titles, in chronological order according to a date of publication: Dukla mezi mrakodrapy (Dukla between Skyscrapers), Plná bedna šampaňského (A Carton Full of Champagne), Syn celerového krále (The Celery King's Son) and Pohádka o Raškovi (The Fairy Tale about Raška). Their common characteristic is that - according to a classification of The Institute of Czech Literature - they all represent Pavel's journalistic sports books. I inspect them from two points of view. The first one is the content itself: there at first I analyse Pavel's attitude to a narration and then a character of the text in terms of language, which includes, among others, elements of journalistic and artistic style and stylistic devices. The second view of Pavel's sport reportages issue are their historical and later media response (reviews, studies...). Those will complete a picture of analysed material and serve as an factor to compare gained results with reactions of the expert and media public. My aim is to sum up findings of the narrative and language analyses in the first part and assess the outputs of comparative analysis in the part two.

In opening, there is a definition of spin doctoring, brief outline for its history and examination of its contact points with a propaganda. After that there is narrative analysis of selected audiovisual works, comparison of spin doctor strategies in movies with existing methods of public relation and examples of manipulative influences. After that there is breakdown of media reflection of spin doctoring from position of three different theories of representation and final topic of influence of a semiotic power on form of interpretation which anticipates manipulative technologies.
Translation in the Dialogue: The Process of Encoding and Decoding of Film Style in a Remake of the Original Work
Gladiš, Michal ; Svatoňová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kokeš, Radomír D. (referee)
The following bachelor's thesis concerns the remake, in the context of its use in the history of cinema and in film theory. I discuss the various definitions and possible forms of the remake, which has existed since the inception of film. Each theoretical consideration of the remake brings about a different choice of perspective and method of examination. Thus, the main part of the thesis is comprised of an effort to acquire a new apparatus through which one can think of the remake as a variant interpretation of the original work. In this regard, I transpose approaches from literary theory to film discourse, mainly referencing the theoretical methods of Gérard Genette, Julia Kristeva, Seymour Chatman, Umberto Eco and the concepts of intertextuality and interpretation. The last chapter analyzes two specific films, positioning Takashi Miike's Visitor Q as a remake of Pier Paolo Pasolini's Teorema. The relationship between remake and original develops new readings of both works. A remake is, in fact, based on the filmmaker's unique reading of an original work. This reading marks the transition between the filmmaker's experience as a viewer of the original and their position as creator of the remake.

Construction of gender identity within the series Dokonalý svět /the perfect world
Mlynářová, Martina ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Baslarová, Iva (referee)
The thesis analyzes the instruments of gender stereotypes reproduction and gender identity construction in Czech TV series Dokonalý svět. Is the media content gendered? With which instruments of gender stereotypes reproduction and gender identity construction is TV viewer confronted and on which levels? I use the theory of social construction of reality, the theory of the lenses of gender or the characters and narrative structure of the TV series (soup opera) to come to a conclusion. The thesis focuses on the fact that Dokonalý svět does not only reflect the stereotypes on the other hand. It confronts the standard gender orders by the comic character. The comedy character ridicules some gender stereotypes and shakes their social status.

Dražková, Michaela ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Červinková Poesová, Kristýna (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to demonstrate whether Czech and British fairy tales evince analogies in terms of motifs and narratological structure. The theoretical part explains the origin of fairy tales in both countries and presents definitions of a traditional fairy tale and its main functions. The practical part begins with an analysis of an individual style of writing of the authors Božena Němcová, Karel Jaromír Erben, Joseph Jacobs and Oscar Wilde who are considered to be the main representatives of traditional fairy tales and thus their works enable a more thorough comparison. Subsequently, the author has paid attention to the analysis of traditional fairy tales of both literatures. In addition to their identical features, the comparison has also shown a number of discrepancies. Key Words Fairy tales, analysis, style of writing, children's literature, analogies, contrasts, Božena Němcová, Karel Jaromír Erben, Joseph Jacobs, Oscar Wilde, motifs, narration
Psychological aspects of narration in mediacontens
Věchetová, Gabriela ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Wolák, Radim (referee)
The topic of narration in media contents is the main subject of my thesis. Psychological findings related to use of media, and television in particular, are contemplated. Myth which is examined from a psychological perspective represents the key topic of my thesis. The myth is compared to a fairytale as it embodies archetypal patterns of a human mind. In the thesis, first, the theoretical frames of naratology, semiotics, psychology and media studies are described. Second, my findings are used for a practical demonstration of a semiotic analysis of selected media messages: commercial, fairytale and news. Categories of cognition, emotion and motivation are used for considering the psychological aspects. Furthermore, deeper structures of human psyche and subconscious processes are stressed. The main objective of the thesis is to provide deeper understanding of mental operations while being exposed to media contents which utilize components of narration and myth. The topic of this thesis is complex; therefore, I have presented findings from disciplines mentioned above coherently. The thesis is, hence, a sectional essay offering integrated findings from multiple disciplines.
