Conflicts at work of managing nurse
BAMBASOVÁ, Radka
Nurse-manager is a person, who supervises a group of workers and is responsible for the work progress. There are always conflicts that a nurse-manager has to deal with. Most of the conflicts are of a personal character. One can divide these conflicts into intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and inter-group ones. From the psychological point of view conflicts can be divided into imagination-, opinions-, attitude- and interest-ones. The point is not in the conflict itself but in the way the nurse-manager copes with it. Choice of a right strategy can guarantee a successful conflict resolution and proper care for patients. Relationship management depends mostly on the manager personality. Also her skills and abilities matter. The goal of this paper was to find out whether interpersonal conflicts are the most common ones the nurse-manager has to deal with. The second goal was to describe the way the nurse manager leads people during conflict resolutions. The last but not least goal of this work was to find out if the nurse-manager had been skilled for the conflict resolutions before she started her job. To get data for my work I distributed questionnaires among nurse-managers from hospitals in Ceske Budejovice and Pisek. Upon collected information three hypotheses were formulated: Firstly, interpersonal conflicts are common in the profession of a nurse-manager. This hypothesis was confirmed. All conflicts depend on the people involved in the conflict. Secondly, nurse-managers pursue a democratic style of managing. This hypothesis was confirmed. Finally, nurse-managers are not fully trained for conflict resolutions before they start their job. This hypothesis was also confirmed. Most of the interviewed nurse-managers admitted that they do not know the right procedure during conflict resolutions. I would like to present my work during seminars, presentations and articles in the press. I would also like to offer my paper to the top management in hospitals where they can use it as a guide for better conflict resolution and for training purposes.

The Meaning of the Image
Ghebremichael, Asmara ; Bouda, Marek (advisor) ; Blaževič, Jasmina (referee)
This work concerns the idea of the image in contemporary philosophical thought. The author surveys various theories on the meaning of the technical image in society in order to determine her own relationship to the image as a contemporary film director. These theorizations of the ?image? will not distinguish between still or moving images, a discussion of why this is so will occur. Three theorists provide a framework to think critically about the image. First, the ideas of Vilem Flusser in his 1983 essay Towards a Philosophy of Photography provide a pessimistic view of the technical image as responsible for the robotization of society. His ideas are contrasted to those of Roland Barthes in his 1981 essay Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography. Barthes provides a more optimistic and humanistic perspective on the relationship between human beings and their photographs. The most recent theoretical work published in 2003, The Future of the Image by Jacques Rancierre will bridge the works of Flusser and Barthes and introduce Godard to our discussions. Both the writings and films of Godard will be discussed in the last chapters. As both theorist and film director, Jean-Luc Godard is a useful example to explore the meaning of the image for a film director. The conclusion will offer the author?s own position on the subject.

Career Choices of Young Mothers
KOKEŠOVÁ, Lucie
The issue of young female´s career choices is associated with many dilemmas as well as problems, making work and childcare very hard to balance. Finding an ideal, family-worthy partner takes a long time and is not an easy task. When the responsibilities associated with taking care of the household and children begin, especially when the mother goes back to work after maternity or parental leave, many disagreements between the partners may appear. Going back to work after maternity or parental leave goes hand in hand with the uncertainty of finding a position that correlates with having children. In the Czech Republic, there is a discrimination of mothers being overlooked by the majority of people, so employers don´t make it easy for new mothers. Czech family policy offers a number of benefits that ease the situation of pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood and parenthood. They are primarily focused on the social and health needs of women. Other means of combining work and childcare can be flexible forms of employment, daycare facilities, or intergenerational solidarity, especially the traditional help from the grandparents. The practical part of this thesis contains qualitative research. Data were collected from semi-standardized interviews with eight communication partners using snowball sampling method. The sample therefore contained pregnant young women and mothers of children up to the age of nine. The interviews lasted several hours and took place at home of the communication partners in a friendly atmosphere. The goal of the research was to get to know the career choices of young women dealing with maternity, because they usually remain the primary caretakers. The main research question was how and why young new mothers decide between career and motherhood. According to the answer, additional research questioned were asked. They were divided into five main areas. Results were processed using coding method. The results show that the most important factor when deciding whether to have children is finding an ideal partner. Employer´s reaction to a pregnancy announcement usually wasn´t problematic for the communication partners. Going back to work or looking for a job after maternity or parental leave is directly related mainly to previous work experiences. Terms of the contract signed before the maternity or parental leave may give an assurance to some extent. The communication partners are familiar with the discrimination against women in the labor market, and they are of the opinion, that there´s nothing they can do about it. Women who will have to find a new job accept the need to lower their expectations and demands in the labor market, at least in the beginning of their maternity. Those more experienced with job search also lowered their expectations about the financial terms of employment and also had to accept worse positions. The most popular means of combining work and childcare among the communication partners are kindergarten/daycare centers, afterschool clubs and the help of their grandparents. Equal distribution of housework is also notable problem for the communication partners, especially right after their return to work. Let this thesis be beneficial to all young women deciding between career and motherhood. It should contribute to understanding of this dilemma and all the problems associated with it.

The Box Full of Light
Přibylová, Květoslava ; RŮŽIČKOVÁ, Alice (advisor) ; ŘEZNÍČEK, Martin (referee)
In my thesis A Box Full of Light, Personality and Thoughts of Niels Bohr as an Inspiration for Science Documentaries, I look, as a documentary film director, at the basic principles and visualizations of the characteristic contemporary popular-science documentaries. I consider this form of documentary film for the most part bleak, often flat and lacking in any kind of progress. I am attempting to unravel where these tendencies come from and show, that they strongly relate to the general notion of science, which stands on the foundations of Newton-Carthesian paradigma. Especially in the area of ideals of measurableness, objectivity and mathematization. At the same time I also contemplate the relationship of knowledge and power, of science as a certain ideology and so also the connection between science documentary and ideological film. In the second part of this thesis I look for inspiration for artistically more progressive, richer and more multi-layered documentary films about science. I find this inspiration in the thoughts of the Danish physicist and philosopher Niels Bohr.
