The impact of the economic situation on the gold market
Voráček, Jan ; Kopecká, Lenka (advisor) ; Svoboda, Roman (referee)
Aim of this thesis is characteristics of gold as commodity and analysis of world gold market focusing on economic determinants (offer and demand) which compel the situation on the market. Then evaluation of gold investments in cooperation with risks consequent from investments. Theoretical part of this thesis is elaborated on study of scientific literature in topic of gold and internet resources specialized especially on describing chemical and physical features, price development, forms of investments, deposits and use. Practical part of the thesis includes analysis of the world market, gold offer and inquiry. Important point is comparison of gold with other chosen commodities, more specifically with silver, oil and electricity. Also this part describes ways of evaluations and investments, while the most profitable investment are certificate purchases. The gold market is constantly affected by economic situation of every country. Gold inquiry stagnates but its stock and offer for gold is slightly increasing. It means, that gold mines might be completely excavated one day. Despite that gold is often invested in as well as being turned into jewels. Thanks to that gold is called rare and precious metal and people are still aware of its (constantly) growing value.

Invertebrates in contaminated ecosystems - landfills
Vaníčková, Jana ; Hlava, Jakub (advisor) ; Husák, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with invertebrates, in particular soil invertebrates, which inhabit the anthropogenically influenced enviroment at landfill of municipal waste. In the theoretical part of this work the most common types of soil invertebrates and basic ecological concepts are described. The practical part included the processing of individual samples and also sampling sites description. To obtain the material I have chosen four different landfills, where the soil samples were collected. The extraction of soil fauna was realized using Tullgrens extractors. The extracted samples were examined in lab conditions under binocular and the soil fauna were divided into taxonomic groups, according to their morphological characteristics. Sampling locations did not represent a different ecosystems. The activities are carried out standardly, according to the law. There is a part of restoration area in each locality. The aim of the practical part was to describe the composition of soil fauna communities in the landfill of municipal waste. Furthermore, this work deals with the comparison of individual sites and for a better interpretation, results are presented by tables and graphs. The observed diversity is interpreted using diversity and evenness indices. The results show that the most dominant groups forming the fellowship of soil mites without incrusted body (in the work presented as Acari in general). Further, as another of the dominant group I found rich communities of the incrusted Oribatid mites and springtails (Collembola), which are considered as a typical soil fauna. Most of these representatives was found in Sono landfill, on the other hand the minimum specimen were found in the Tušimice landfill. In the overall evaluation, samples did not represent significant differences in the composition of the soil invertebrates communities.

Comparison of selected vegetation indices and determination of suitability for yield description on agricultural field
Křížová, Kateřina ; Kumhálová, Jitka (advisor) ; Novák, Petr (referee)
Calculation of vegetation indices (VI) is an effective method how to evaluate a condition of a monitored vegetation. It is a non-destructive and low-cost approach and its results are crucial for planning agronomic management within a monitored field. Diploma thesis deals with the determination of suitability of selected VI to describe the yield variability related to topographic attributes and weather conditions. The study area was a 11.5 ha field. To derive selected VI LANDSAT 5 images with a spatial resolution of 30 m were used. These images were taken in years 2005 and 2011 for winter wheat and in years 2006 and 2010, when oat was grown. SW ENVI and ArcGIS were used to obtain specific values. Those were used for statistical analysis. The results indicated a strong relationship between all selected VI and yield, respectively topographic factor. Selected VI derived from LANDSAT 5 images can be used to describe yield variability over a monitored field.

Freedom of will and access to informations about one's own intentions
Havlíček, Ondřej ; Hvorecký, Juraj (advisor) ; Horáček, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the problem of free will and the reliability of an introspective access to action intentions. The traditional questions of free will, responsibility and determinism are currently receiving a lot of attention due to the advances in cognitive sciences. Because of various scientific findings, many authors claim that free will is just an illusion. The purpose of this study is to discuss traditional conceptualization of this topic and point out its problems. As an alternative, I am trying to suggest a compatibilistic theory of freedom and responsibility, which is internally coherent and compatible with scientific evidence. The core of my thesis is a replication and modification of a recent experimental study, investigating voluntary decision-making and an introspective access to one's own intentions. The participants of the experiment performed reflexive actions which they misjudged as intentional. The goal of the theoretical part of my thesis has been accomplished on the basis of examining a voluminous foreign literature. The method involves a philosophical analysis of concepts with an emphasis on contemporary scientific findings. In the empirical part of my work, results were obtained in a cognitive-psychological experiment involving reaction time and evoked potential data acquisition and their analysis. First, a discussion of concepts relevant to the problem of free will is undertaken. An explication of the most significant experiments that question traditional intuitions about the human mind and free will is then given. A detailed description of my experiment follows, including its results and implications. Finally, conclusions about the nature of free will and responsibility are made together with certain suggestions for both the criminal justice system and everyday situations. Although I base the theoretical part of my thesis on the results of many authors, I contribute to it to a substantial degree with my own opinions and arguments. The empirical study is the most significant contribution of mine as its realization demanded i.a. a development of a stimulus presentation software, execution of the experimental tasks with a relatively large number of subjects and a mathematical and statistical evaluation of the acquired data.

Improving of process performance of organization based on improvement potential
Hemala, David ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Chocholatý, Drahomír (referee)
The theme of the thesis is the area of process management. In the theoretical part of the thesis the basic terms are explained, so as the other areas, which relate to area of processes and proces management. This section also describes the essential terms used in the methodology of the real potential for improvement. The whole theoretical part concludes description of selected ISO standards, which the analyzed company disposes. The practical part of the thesis is aimed to describtion and application of the methodology to achieve the potential improvement in the environment of manufacturing company. This methodology is also accompanied by several activities that contribute to the complexity of the methodology. The following describes the operation of manufacturing companies in order to analyze the maturity of individual processes and also describe the selected processes, which were based on analysis of the processes identified as the highest priority for this company. After completing the necessary steps of analysis, individual potentials, that can contribute to increase the efficiency of the process areas in the analyzed company, have been identified. What could affect the achievement of the real potential is expressed by means of hard and soft effects. The last part of the thesis consist of specific procedures, which serves to remove the internal limits of the company, respectively to achieve the identified potential.

Methodology of development and maintanance of dependent data marts
Müllerová, Sandra ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The thesis is primary focused on the integrated data warehouse, particularly on a subset -- dependent data marts. The main objectives of this thesis are design the methodology of development and maintenance of dependent data marts and verification methodology usefulness in the real organization. The first part deals with the theoretical definition of terms. It focuses particularly on the definition of terms from Business Intelligence area especially data warehousing and data marts. Each of the terms is described in detail in separate chapters. Business Intelligence area puts emphasis on description of individual components. In data warehousing area are described the data warehouse concepts and content of layers in a data warehouse. Finally, the data mart area is designed to describe dependent and independent data marts and also "special "cases of data marts, likely the semantic layer, and a sandbox. The second part focuses on the design methodology itself. At the beginning of this part is analysis of the existing methodologies and assess their usefulness with connection to designed methodology. The following part describes the current situation in the approach to the development and maintenance of dependent data marts in the organization. At the end of the second part is designed own methodology, which is based in part on the analysis methodology and in part on the analysis of current situation. The third part focuses on usability and usefulness evaluation of methodology in the organization. Evaluation is based on the methodology of criticism from employees in the organization who are directly engaged in designing and maintaining dependent data marts. Finally, the fourth and final part will focus on the description of an alternative solution that could be considered as one of the ways to sustainable development of data warehouse in the organization. It's about comparison architecture based on utilization of semantic layer as oppose to the "three layers" concept of data warehouse by Bill Inmon, which is implemented in the organization. The output evaluates alternative solutions to the current solution.

Data Warehouse Management and MWF Optimization
Matoušková, Barbora ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Faina, Michal (referee)
This thesis focuses on the data warehouse of an extensive bank intitution from its operational management point of view (for the main part). To grasp the fast overview of the data warehouse the thesis includes the description of its data architecture, transformation processes and the way of presenting data to its users. Besides that the description of systems used for both the business data and for the metadata purposses is also included in this thesis. The thesis also covers operational activities including the identification of weak areas and their improvements. Another part of the thesis is represented by the project of optimization of a scheduling mechanism (Master Workflow) for running transformation processes, that helps to minimalize the metadata load of the Teradata database system. The main goal of this thesis is to describe the environment of the data warehouse in an understandable way. It's critical to understand the environment for both, the operational management personnel and for developers, that can supply the warehouse with higher quality solutions and ease the deployment of new deliveries into the production environment. This goal is achieved by the description of the data warehouse (mainly the description of its data architecture, transformation processes, operational activities and tools used to deploy changes into the production environment). Another goal is to give a feedback on the operational activities from the operational personnel point of view. This helps identify weak spots and can lead to its elimination. The last goal is to improve the scheduling mechanism that controls and runs all transformation processes. This goal is achieved by a project. The thesis describes the starting state, implemented changes, final state and the consideration whether the project was successful or not. The thesis brings several contributions: easier understanding of the data warehouse and the way of managing ETL processes -- for the operational management personnel and developers, which can bring the improvement of new solutions. The possibility of elimination of weak areas in the operational activities. And thanks to the project described there are two changes -- standardization and the metadata load of Teradata decreased. My own contribution to this issue is, besides the useful introduction to the data warehouse, the identification of the weak areas, suggested improvements and also the project of optimization Master Workflow which took about 17 MD. The thesis is devided into chapters based on the topics described: introductory information, theoretical base, characteristics of the main systems, the description of the data warehouse, the description of operational activities including the identification of weak areas, and at the end there is the project of optimization of Master Workflow. In the last chapter there is the final conclusion of the entire thesis.
