Knoblochová, Eva ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Kotíková, Jaromíra (referee)
The thesis "The institutional system struggling with underclared work in the Czech Republic " discusses institutional precautionary measures taken by the Czech republic in the matter of illegal employment. The key institution that has the responsibility to take measures against illegal work is the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. The fight against illegal employment requires the introduction of a wide range of mechanisms and measures ranging from prevention to repression to discourage employees and employers from benefiting from this phenomenon. Illegal employment jeopardizes economy, weakens the labour market and reduces the number of jobs for citizens who apply for them at the unemployment offices. To combat illegal employment, there have to be precautions against illegal employees on the demand side as well as against employers on the supply side. One of the objectives of the fight against illegal employment is that the measures contribute to the fulfilment of legal obligations, which relates to statutory contributions to social insurance, health insurance and income tax. In order for the combat against illegal employment to be successful, it is imperative to have the support of the whole governing representation including organizational, financial and technical...

Vovsová, Nikola ; Rybová, Lucie (advisor) ; Angelovská, Olga (referee)
Group of people with mental illness is a very diverse group. Due to its diagnosis they have to face prejudices and stigmatization, which influences all levels of their lives - even the working one. This diploma thesis People with mental disorders and their access to the labour market examines the position of persons with mental disorders on the labor market. It is based on the premise that employment is an important element for every person, as it provides an income and, above all, represents belonging to the majority society. In this work I introduce the setting of Czech legislation and public policy documents, I realize my own quantitative (using content analysis of media outputs) and qualitative (using semi-structured expert interviews) research and based on that I classify people with mental illness into the relevant target population according to the Theory of social construction of target populations (according to Schneider and Ingram). I choose this procedure of combined (= mixed) research to collect a sufficient amount of data. This theory says how benefits or burdens are allocated in society. I define the problems and, in conclusion, I present possible recommendations how the situation could change with the help of public policy instruments and how the the stigma that these people have to...
The relationship between education and labour force structure in African countries: gender comparison
Le, Duc Anh ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor) ; Šedivý, Marek (referee)
This thesis investigates the association between education and person's labour market status in African countries, with specific focus on Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Data from the most recent household surveys conducted by respec- tive countries' statistical agencies are applied to this research. The analysis was further broken down by sex to examine, whether similar results could be derived for male and female population. This was achieved by carrying out the series of gender-specific logit models. The findings of this thesis suggest that more edu- cated people are more likely to engage in formal employment and less likely to engage in subsistence farming, regardless of gender or country. However, no clear association was found between education and unemployment. Furthermore, the returns to male's education were at least as significant as female's returns, if not larger, in terms of formal employment incidence. Keywords education, formal employment, gender disparity, subsistence farming, logit
Decent Work and Economic Growth-Analysis of the Sustainable Development Goal 8
Letovská, Vendula ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kopečná, Vědunka (referee)
Sustainable Development Goals are focused on international cooperation in the field of socioeconomic, political and environmental issues. This bachelor's thesis deals with Goal 8, which promotes achievement of sustainable economic growth, decent work and full employment, and examines three indicators of the goal: annual growth of GDP per capita, domestic material consumption and the rate of unemployment. Thesis is based on the panel data analysis of 132 countries, which were obtained from the World Bank and Sustainable Development Goals databases for selected variables as observed in the time period of 2000 - 2019. According to the regression results, variables education, inflation, adjusted net savings and unemployment rate report significant effects on the annual growth of GDP per capita. Similarly, unemployment rate is strongly affected by the level of obtained education and inflation, as well as by the growth of population and GDP per capita. Inference of domestic material consumption did not uncover any statistically significant variables. Evaluation of the best-fitted forecast models does not predict a strong probability of actually fulfilling the goal or at least its sub targets by the agreed deadline. Thus the Goal 8 proves to be difficult to achieve only a few years after the introduction...
The detection of cognitive dysfunction in multiple sclerosis
Blahová-Dušánková, Jana ; Kubala Havrdová, Eva (advisor) ; Papežová, Hana (referee) ; Rektorová, Irena (referee)
Evaluation of cognitive impairment is often omitted in multiple sclerosis (MS), as the available instruments usually require considerable time and resources, and are not readily available in all countries. The aims of this study were to examine validity of the Czech translation of the MACFIMS (Minimal Assessment of Cognitive Function in MS), to validate the BICAMS (Brief International Cognitive Assessment for MS) and to compare outcomes of the MACFIMS and the BICAMS. We evaluated 367 MS patients and 134 healthy controls with the MACFIMS battery, which also comprises the 3 tests of the BICAMS (Symbol Digit Modalities Test, Brief Visuospatial Memory Test- Revised, California Verbal Learning Test, second edition). The most accurate BICAMS criterion of cognitive deficit was that of at least 1 of the overall 3 tests outside the normal range (sensitivity = 94%, specificity = 86%, p=10-28). Outcomes of the Czech translation of the MACFIMS were comparable to its original. The MACFIMS and the BICAMS identified cognitive deficit in 55% and 58% of the MS patients, respectively. Both the BICAMS and MACFIMS predicted patient vocational status. The BICAMS is highly sensitive and specific to cognitive impairment in MS as defined by the MACFIMS. This impairment is significantly associated with vocational status. Our work...
