Aid to the Distant Ethics in Foreign Aid
Princová, Květoslava ; Haškovcová, Helena (advisor) ; Prudký, Libor (referee) ; Tomeš, Igor (referee)
AID TO THE DISTANT Ethics in Foreign Aid Květoslava Princová Abstract Humanitarian aid and development assistance (foreign aid) are generally considered to be positive actions which help to save people affected by disaster, striving or suffering by diseases. It is done by satisfying basic needs with the help of food, water, sanitation, health care, or in long-term perspective by education, reconstruction of houses, prevention, protection and development projects. Foreign aid happens in very specific environment: after disasters, in conflict situations, in the midst of epidemics, extreme poverty, drought and floods. It is mainly provided by people who come from quite different environment and culture, from "the wealthy world". The humanitarian and development workers are just links in the "aid chain" which is quite long and starts with big donors and public subscribers, as well as governments. Due to the cultural differences, distance and many "chain links" the aid causes not always good but sometimes it does not work or does even harm to the intended recipients. The goal of this work was to identify possible risks of damages, which threatens the help to recipients. Speaking about damages, threats and risks it is necessary to come out from that cultural and value context, which is expressed in international...
Vision and reality in solving longterm unemployment (Focus on municipal territory of Prague 9, 14 and 20)
The employment of seniors in relation to their claim on old-aged persons
Bočková, Lenka ; Tomeš, Igor (advisor) ; Víšek, Petr (referee)
The current trend of demographic aging can be alleviated by extending the working activity of older workers and seniors. In this thesis the attention is focused on the relationship between the employment of older people and setting of the pension scheme, since both affect the behaviour of older workers and seniors. The aim of this thesis was to find out the level of employment support of older workers and seniors, and to describe not only the view of seniors, who continue with work after their claim on old-aged pension but also attitudes of the potential employers on this group of workers. Secondary data analysis with emphasis on foreign experience and qualitative interviews supplemented by quantitative research were used as research methods. The research has shown that the pension system does not motivate older people to delay retirement, the level of education in old age is undersized and the awareness of current trends and opportunities in the field of seniors employment is missing. Key words: seniors, older workers, employers, pension scheme, labour market, education
Reconciliation of Work and Family Life - Reflection of the European Law in the Activities of the Czech Government
Vošmik, Josef ; Tomeš, Igor (advisor) ; Koldinská, Kristina (referee)
The problem of reconciliation or work and family life has been of cardinal importance over the past few years not only in the Czech Republic but in most European countries. For most families it is becoming more and more difficult to reconcile the duties connected with the care of children and other dependent persons with the occupation. This situation is caused by many factors such as the growth of women employment, changes in family structure, demographic effects, development of human rights and many others. Social policy must take these aspects into account and carry out such acctivities that will enable families to face the challenges of the present society and won't make them decide either work of family. As a part of theory there are quite many particular methods and ways how to help families to cope with their employment and family duties. Some sources distinguish these strategies among individual and family, employers' strategies and strategies of the welfare state. But the European states differ as to how they view family and social policy as well. In the Czech republic there has been a traditionally high level of women employment rate but the birth of a child has a negative impact on a woman's staying or (re)entry into labour market. The possibilities of flexible work arrangements are highly...

Z těchto důvodů Evropská unie (EU) přikročila ke Strategii obnovy a rozvoje. Strategie, známá především pod názvem Lisabonský proces, vytyčila kvantifikovatelné cíle, které mají rozvinout...
