Current trends in social marketing of the food sector

The Bachelor Thesis, titled Current trends in social marketing of the food sector, deals with the usage of food waste as a topic in the communication activities of grocery retailers in the Czech market. The thesis aims to find out what the motivation of the retail chain companies is to adopt practices that reduce the food waste. On the contrary, the thesis also looks at what the barriers in this matter are. The objective is also to analyse these activities and to assign them to marketing theory. The theoretical part of the thesis works with the terms social marketing and corporate social responsibility, occurring in the food industry. The paper describes the reasons why the problem of food waste became a public discussion. The next part is dealing with the analysis of the domestic market with the food retailer chains. The practical part is based on a survey examining an approach of the food retailer chains to the topic of food waste. The answers of the seven representatives of food retailed chains management in the Czech market are interpreted.
Information spread in online communities: Example of the Czech foodie community

This master's diploma thesis focuses on the dissemination of information in the context of the Czech community of so-called foodies (people who like good food and are constantly looking for new experiences in this field). The theoretical part outlines the development of online communities environments, from web forums to social media. It also examines the possibility of applying Katz and Lazarsfeld's model of the two-step flow of communication in the online environment. We also explain the features of online food communication and present widespread social media foodie platforms, including the Czech app Scuk. The research part of the thesis uses the social network analysis method to identify opinion leaders of this online community in the environment of Twitter, Instagram and Scuk and examines how the information spread and the form of this community changes with regards to the particular online environment in question. The thesis also includes qualitative research on the impact of the online information spread on the offline environment - more specifically, on sales, visit rate and reputation of selected Prague restaurants.
Culinary identity - are we, what we eat?

The thesis presents a view on a group of amateur chefs - the culinary experts- for whom the cooking has become an essential part of their identity. On the basis of the analysis of semistructured interviews and the participating observation the author studies the tricks of creating of identity of the culinary experts and their life-style. Present day liquid modernity and hyper-consumerist society in a way offers the space for paying attention to oneself and for building an own life project. The culinary art has become for some individuals very important hobby, not only because of the fact that through it they can give pleasure to their bodies, but it can also improve their social status. The text shows that the culinary art brings to amateur chefs the possibility to dedicate their life to cooking, regardless the social stratification or economical class they come from. On the other hand, there is a distinctive dimension which shows that merely the consumption of fine food does not make a fine food eater or a fine diner. Czech food blogosphere and its development

The thesis deals with the Czech food blogosphere and its development. It describes food studies and theoretical disciplines which had participated on the development. It presents current trends of online gastronomy. It defines blogs with the short note of the Web 2.0, describes their history. Also mentions the authors of the blogs as online influencers who might influence own readers and their opinions. It is followed by the history of foreign and Czech food blogs with their main representatives. Commercial possibility of blog and professionalism of bloggers is also mentioned. Part of the thesis presents the external and internal motivations to write blog. Shortly, the thesis describes the critism of food blogs and also the plagiarism issues. The thesis presents the future of blogging as well. The conducted qualitative research is based on six semi-structured interviews with food bloggers and deals with their opinions of the Czech food blogosphere and creating and maintaining the blogs. It researches their motivation to write and tries to find out the positive and negative aspect of blogging and presumed development of Czech food blogs.
Dining Out - The Anthropological Insight onto the Czech Gastronomy

The case study of one of the Prague restaurants was focused on verification and description of existence of two phenomena allied to food. Both of those phenomena are in link with gender and among both of them strong parallels are identifiable. First of those two phenomena is the difference of the food preference and consumption between both men and women who are either dining in such restaurant, or in general. The second one is again the difference between men and women, but this time in terms of average number of both sexes present among the employees of the restaurant. Both phenomena were able to verify and partially were described the causes and reasons, what are those rising for and under what circumstances are maintained. Nevertheless, there is a need to mention the fact that both phenomena are subjected to change as well as the whole society, therefore is necessary to food as a social phenomenon itself pay constant attention. The reason is basic and clear - food is very important part of our everyday life.
The phenomenon of food aid

Anotation The diploma thesis entitled "The Phenomenon of food aid" deals with the topic of food aid, including its origins, its significance and functioning, as well as affiliates of the food bank. The diploma thesis also includes The Operational Programme of Material and Food Aid, provided for years 2014 to 2020 included. Another aspect of the thesis is an actual view over the problem of food wastage. They are measured a factors which affect the food security, and it also compares a several different institutions, dealing with the food aid. As a part of the research, there is a practical survey included. The practical part tries to primarily answer questions of food wastage. Than it searches kinds of the food groceries which are wasted most often, as well as their amount. The practical part also ascertains the willingness of the operators to provide the discarded food to a people in need. It also monitors the actual knowledge about the National Food Bank itself. A case study in the form of a short interview with a homeless person in included. The interview is thematically based on the possibility and the availability of food aid itself.
Art as a Social Intervention

Peroutková, P.: Art as a Social Intervention. [Diploma thesis] Prague 2014 - Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Department of Art education, 99 s. (Attachment: cd with video-documentation) This work is a theoretical study of art as a social intervention with an application on a didactic project in art education. Firstly, it outlines the underlying issues linked to social interventions, especially to participatory art. Secondly, these issues are subsequently examined on diverse approaches on both Czech and international art scenes after 1990. They are connected by the common subject of food, which appears in socially engaged art projects across the whole range of different approaches and strategies. Further, it points to the connection of examined strategies and teaching activities. The phenomenon of art as a social intevention is also used as the main theme in a didactic project implemented in art education, in grammar school and on an author's project.
Eating Habits of High School Students

(in English) Aims: The aim of the diploma thesis was to monitor the eating habits of students from chosen high school which is located in Prague. These habits were taken into consideration with regards to social aspects of food and the causes of overweight and obesity. Methods: Qualitative research was used as the default method to determine the objective of the thesis. Based on literature review the survey was created. The respondents subjectively evaluated a set of questions relating to food and eating habits. Results: According to the findings, a major impact on eating habits of high school students has a family in general or household, in which students live. Cooking trend at home plays an important role, even when talking about boom in eating at restaurants and fast foods. Regardless of household income, students are used to really eat most often at home (breakfast and dinner) and at school (lunch). As for eating habits, respondents, from the vast majority, do not pay any attention to this process. And even if the results of the research showed that a large majority of students think they eat healthily, then less than half of them is not satisfied with own weight. Household income therefore has no significant effect on the eating habits in selected high school students. According to the...
