The pre-war armament from the economic perspective: comparison of the Czech and the German points of view
Filková, Zuzana ; Strecker, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hrbek, Pavel (referee)
There are a variety of views from economic theorists on effects of armament on the overall development of certain societies and the state of its economy. The aim of this paper is to compare the theoretical approach to the issue of pre-war armament in 1930s in Czechoslovakia and Germany. As a source of information for the description of the prevailing theoretical economic approach, this paper uses contemporary newspaper articles, archived materials and present-day materials concerning this topic. The main stream of economic thinking in Czechoslovakia does not agree with high governmental expenditure on armament, because it may have a degenerative effect which would lead to militarisation of economy. War preparation results in higher taxes, a fall in standard of living, limited export, and decrease in productive investment, etc. Therefore it is not eligible to implement these principles under the conditions of peace economy and they are relevant only in case of a direct threat to the existence of a state. However, even then it has to be a derogation of the principle of free trade to the slightest possible extent. Emphasis was placed on non-inflationary obtaining of financial means - first via taxes and then a credit. Representatives were Karel Englis and Alois Rasin, whose ideas were reflected in the...

Zhang, Wei ; Sepp, Hans Rainer (advisor) ; Montagová, Kristina Simona (referee)
Prolegomena zur phänomenologischen materialen Wertethik bei Max Scheler: Vom Materialen Apriori bis zum emotionalen Apriori in Bezug auf I. Kant und E. Husserl ZHANG Wei Abstract This essay is an investigation on Scheler's phenomenological material ethics of value against the background of his thoughts of ethics. It discusses the static founding-relation of Scheler's material apriorism and his phenomenological meta-ethics in the context of Kant and Husserl. The introduction includes three basic questions of ethics. The first one is the fundamental question of ethics, that is, "how should men live?" The second one is the leading question of ethics, that is, "what is good?" The third one is the grounding question of ethics, that is, "whether is the ethics founded on reason or feeling/emotions at all?" These three questions form a wide background of ideas for the investigation of Scheler's phenomenological material ethics of value. The primary problem of Scheler's ethics is how an absolute or a priori, emotional ethics is possible. Therefore, the entry point of this essay is to phenomenologically re-examine the "a priori." Chapter 1 begins with the analysis of Kant's and Husserl's understandings of the "a priori." And the next step is to discuss Scheler's critique of Kant's understanding of the formal a...

The structure of household expenditure with regard to their income situation
Babáková, Andrea ; Bína, Vladislav (advisor) ; Bartošová, Jitka (referee)
Presented thesis is focused on searching for differences and investigating dependences between costs and revenues of households, mainly the housing expenditure are emphasized. The data were extracted from survey made by Czech Statistics Office, especially from sample survey about revenues and living conditions of households called "Životní podmínky 2005". The data are analyzed by means of linear regression and analysis of variance. The above mentioned statistical methods are used to investigate the level of dependence between incomes and housing costs with regard to various factors e.g. size and type of municipality or the type of house in which the particular household is living. The obtained results display slightly growing dependence between incomes and revenues. Furthermore a small survey of the particular households was made on which the selected linear regression model (obtained by the analysis of ČSÚ data) was applied. The comparison of both surveys showed rather insignificant differences.
