Changes in gastronomical behaviour of miners in Kladensko (with focus on Vinarice village)
Žvachtová, Pavla ; Tomandl, Miloš (referee) ; Štěpánová, Irena (referee)
Kladno region as a well-known industrial area (black coal mines, steelworks, etc.) started to grow in the second half of the 19th century. Following the industrial development of this area, there was a great professional imigration (from the whole Czech region). As a result of this imigration, social habits of the original inhabitants of the agricultural Kladno and those of the newcomers started to mix and a new specific Kladno "worker's" culture started to form. It changed many times, particularly within the context of economic and political development, however its roots originate in the 19th century. Kladno miners' culture experienced one of essential changes after 1990 when the whole region went through a social transformation resulting from the alterations in the industrial sphere. The steel production (POLDI) and mainly the coal mine production declined during the nineties (the last coal mine was closed in 2002). These changes showed in everyday lives of the people in the area. They distinctively affected the people involved in these changes, namely the people employed in Kladno businesses (the majority of whom lost their jobs and who in comparison with the period before 1990 lost their social status). Implicitly the economic transformation affected the rest of the population of Kladno. This thesis...

Specifics of senior education
Jiráčková, Libuše ; Štěpánek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šerák, Michal (advisor)
Aged people study to give a reason to their life, to raise their self-confidence and to improve their social status. But that is not all. It is mostly psychological, fyziological and social problem. Emeritus person is, unfortunately, usually drove out to the edge of society and is called useless. For a lot of seniors is this feeling an impulse to prove that they are still able to do some work. In connection with this feeling it is needed to separate life of a person to three periods, which are bound to the ability of doing work. In the first period the person is thinking of his education - he studies. In the second period he concentrates most of his attention on the possibilities of his professional application and in the third period he focuses on creating the evenfall of his life, when the orientation on the material being is fading away. A person is mostly turning back to his suspended plans and unfilled educational dreams. (Ten years of educational activities for seniors, 1997)

Existential-analytic concept of meaning in life and its implications for the care of seriously and terminally ill patients of health care facilities
Kalvínská, Eva ; Ventura, Václav (advisor) ; Balcar, Karel (referee) ; Opatrný, Aleš (referee)
In Czech hospitals, a patient's problems are usually perceived mainly as troubles of a somatic nature, which reduces the quality of the care provided. It is usually very professional in terms of fulfilling the patient's physical needs. However, the care provided in the domain of the patient's psycho-social needs is developing rather slowly, while caring for their spiritual needs is either totally absent or only beginning to be realized and offered. This thesis looks into the ways in which the spiritual needs, above all the need to find a meaning in one's life, can be examined, understood, and fulfilled - especially in people that are seriously, incurably or terminally ill. The hospital staff do not have enough experience concerning the care of the spiritual dimension of man, nor do they have enough knowledge and skills to provide the necessary care and assistance, although such needs could often be crucial for the quality of life of such patients. V. E. Frankl's antropology, which is the basis of his therapeutic approach of logotherapy and existential analysis, is applied here as one of the theoretical models that are suitable for the clinical application of this thesis. This approach concentrates on the fulfillment and/or the frustration of the human quest for meaning during common as well as...
