A contrastive study of means expressing necessity in English and Czech

The dissertation investigates the structures of the semantic field of necessity in English and in Czech on the basis of means of expression found in eight works of contemporary fiction (four English books, four Czech books and their published translations). The aim of the thesi s is first to describe the structure of the semantic field in each individuallanguage and then compare the acquired data, determine the similarities and differences and discuss the potential causes of the differences and their consequences in connection with the accurate expression of necessity in both languages. The dissertation consists of three main parts: theoretical, empirical and the conclusion. The theoretical part is outlined as a broad general introduction into the problems of modality and then specifically of necessity. Apart form the delimitation and interpretation of the general concept of modality it focuses on the means of expression of necessity used in English and Czech and their comparison. In the empirical part the individua! means of expression found in the fiction are first discussed and compared within each individuallanguage (e.g. the distinctions between must and have to, or mustn 't and can 't are discussed in detail) and then between the two languages. English element in Italian language from the perspective of contemporary Italian linguistics. Theoretical and methodological issues

Předkládaná práce má tři hlavní témata. Nejprve se zabývá obecným postavením angličtiny jako globálního jazyka. V dalších dvou částech práce se autor zamýšlí nad fenoménem kontaktů jazyků a jazykových interferencí z pohledu současné, zvláště italské lingvistiky a především provádí kvantitativní a kvalitativní analýzu korpusu sestaveného pro potřeby této práce, ve kterém ověřuje východiska z teoretické části práce. Práce má tři hlavní kapitoly. V kap. 2 analyzujeme důvody, které vedly k rozšíření angličtiny a jejímu současnému postavení ve světě. Tato kapitola se zabývá klady i zápory anglického jazyka z hlediska jeho globálnosti. Po obecné analýze angličtiny jako univerzálního světového jazyka zaměřujeme naši pozornost na evropský kontinent a blíže ukazujeme působení angličtiny na evropské jazyky a zvláště na italštinu, které je věnována samostatná podkapitola. Zabýváme se zvláště obdobím po druhé světové válce, ve kterém se působení angličtiny na italštinu manifestuje nejvýrazněji. První část práce uzavírá kapitola o puristických tendencích a obecném postavení anglicismů v italštině z pohledu současné italské lingvistiky. Influence of Transnational Corporations on the Economies of Latin American Countries

Initially, the work describes the political and economical situation in the Latin American region with emphasis on the recent economic development of the region and the socioeconomic phenomena common for most local economies. The second part focuses on the general effects that transnational corporations' activities have on host economies. These effects are then demonstrated on concrete examples of Latin American countries. The third chapter has the form of a case study that deals with the role of transnational corporations during the economic development of Argentina with a stress on its last financial crisis (1999-2002).

The Accounting As An Evidence

The diploma thesis is focused on the accounting as an evidence, more specifically as a tool for procuring the proof while proving the facts claimed by the taxpayer. Firstly, there are described a financial and tax terms relevant for the topic. Then the rights and obligations of the tax administrator and taxpayer during the tax procedure are described. The last but one chapter deals with the burden of proof and with it´s transfer among the tax administrator and the taxpayer. In conclusion, an evidence that can be used in proving the facts are mentioned.

Education Innovation Possibilities at the Faculty of Management

This work is divided into two parts -- the theoretical and practical ones. Main intention of the theoretical part was to provide comprehend views of current state of tertiary education in our country. For this purpose, particular chapters dealt with key terms, current problems and selected aspects of tertiary education. The outputs of the educational process, i.e. satisfaction of Czech labour market with graduates and the requirements of this market for graduates were not omitted. Main objective resulting from setting of this work, i.e. searching alternatives that may lead to innovative education at the faculty of management, was implemented within the frame of the practical part. First of all, research targets, research questions, research sample and ways of data processing were specified. The key chapter is the fourth one, presenting and interpreting the data collected. Outputs were assorted in tables or graphs, completed by appropriate comments. Crucial points were summarized in the end of the work. Especially the main research conclusions, benefits acquired from this work, recommendations rised for the faculty management and some other interesting findings.

Sociological aspects of divorce and its predictors

Rozvod představuje legitimní způsob ukončení manželství za života obou manželů. Které faktory se však podílejí na rozhodování o ukončení manželství? Odpověď na tuto otázku lze hledat v individuálních osobnostních vlastnostech manželů, jejich sociodemografických charakteristikách nebo ve společensko - strukturních faktorech. Tato práce se nezabývá prediktory rozvodu na celospolečenské úrovni ani individuálními charakteristikami rozvádějících se manželů. Zaměřuje se na zkoumání objektivně poznatelných a tedy měřitelných prediktorů rozvodu, které jsou spojeny s individuální životní dráhou jedince, se sociodemografickými charakteristikami a s postoji k rodině a rolím muže a ženy v ní. V této práci je nejprve pojednáno o teoretických i empirických výsledcích zahraničních studií provedených na téma prediktorů rozvodu. O čtyřech z prediktorů je pojednáno podrobně. Jsou jimi: věk při vstupu do manželství, předmanželské soužití, pracovní participace žen a ekonomické faktory. Platnost výsledků zahraničních studií je dále testována na datech pro Českou republiku. Kapitola 6 je originálním příspěvkem k tematice prediktorů rozvodu.

Flooding Risk and Ways to Eliminate Its Consequences

The first part of the paper focuses on the global warming effects on the extreme weather events frequency. The second part tries to specify the role of the critical institutions managing the flooding risk in the Czech Republic. The following chapters are all aimed at the fundamental questions of the paper: Insurability conditions, position of the individual insurance companies, necessity of the insurers - reinsurers cooperation and alternative risk transfer (ART) methods endeavouring to deepen the capacity of the traditional reinsurance markets.

Cross-border transformations of commercial companies

This thesis discusses a method of implementation of the freedom of company establishment in the form of cross-border transformations after the amendment of the Transformation Act, which came into force on 1 January 2012. This right which a company is guaranteed is analyzed in the context of relevant CJEU case law. This thesis follows the structure of the Act. The first part deals with general issues of cross-border transformations and is followed by a chapter on the types of cross-border transformations. The final part of this thesis is devoted to a discussion about the possible kinds of economic movation for the tranformations. The goal is to analyze the possibilities of cross-border transformations and to assess their historical development with respect to both major CJEU decisions and legislative activities of the EU and the Czech Republic.
