Crisis and the construction of home: Narrative accounts of the Financial crisis on the Czech housing market
Samec, Tomáš ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Čada, Karel (referee)
This text deals with the Financial crises from the perspective of everyday lived experience. It presents the analysis of narrative accounts of lay people who were active on the Czech housing market during or after the Crises. Theoretically rooted in the in the framework of narrative analysis, the text widens the mainstream economical perceptions of Crises bringing the concepts of emotions, ethos and symbolic boundaries into account. On the behalf of the narratives of Crises, the narratives of the process of social construction of home proved to be significant for the narrator's identity construction and presentation. Text presents three main findings a) Crises is trope, which is used as such in the narratives b) moral evaluation, which might be coined as the bourgeois morality ethos prove their significance in the narratives c) housing choices being based both on "rational" and "irrational" factors i. e. emotions, moral evaluations. The main interpretation of the narrative accounts suggests the crucial importance of the narratives of social construction of home for the expression of being independent, capable, responsible and thus successful person. The ability to express the capability of securing what is culturally regarded as "good and ideal housing" to the family, represents ones ability to...

Characters of Space in the Trilogy Trýznivé město by Daniela Hodrová
Macháčková, Klára ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Wiendl, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to interpret the trilogy Trýznivé město (subsuming parts called Podobojí, Kukly and Théta) by the Czech novelist and literary scholar Daniela Hodrová. A complex structure of the novel is in the analysis "opened" through the categories of space and characters; an axis of the thesis is the idea that in the poetics of D. Hodrová, some places can acquire certain features of living creatures (such as memory, free will, temper etc.) and vice versa, that some characters can coalesce with the space they inhabit. In spite of a firm mutual connection between the two categories, they will be discussed separately, in the following order: after having defined the background (using mainly theoretical works of D. Hodrová as secondary sources), firstly, we will focus on the localization of particular topoi (i.e. "literary loaded" places, e.g. the mountain, the pass, the abyss etc.) and on the description of their connotations in terms of the general sense of the trilogy; the attention will be also given to the non-topographical places (i.e. objects or parts of the body). Then, we will consider the issue of characters, primarily their ambivalent status between personalities, though fictional, and mere literary constructs performing certain functions, and also their transformations...
Jephthah (Jdg 11:29-40) - Explanation and Interpretation of a Particular Biblical Text
Páleník, Dan ; Prudký, Martin (advisor) ; Čapek, Filip (referee)
This thesis focuses on exegesis and interpretation of Judges 11, 29-40. Main method used in this thesis is narrative analysis, via which I investigate and interpret the chosen text as one story unit in its contemporal form. I focus on the course of action, how and with whom the characters act and what is the meaning of these in the whole narrative. I examine the structure of the text, because it's essential for the story told. I examine the context of the chosen text as well, because it's in the middle of broader narrative about Jephthah, of the book of Judges and of the Old Testament. Behavior and actions of characters, as well as facts used in the story, may have different meanings, which may not be apparent from the text itself. The aim of this thesis is to find one or several interpratiations, which will be based in the text itself and its context as much as possible. That will aslo enable me to deal with other intepratations. In the conclusion, I will shortly speak about text's influence on arts and present several themes for homiletic or pastoral use, which the story presents and contents.
Internet marketing influence on internet media content and its users presented on the czech media environment
Rajtmajerová, Daniela ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Wolák, Radim (referee)
The significations found in content aren't only explicitly present in the surface structures, but they're also built deep inside human mind as the basic semes - the minimum units with a signification. In the diploma thesis "Internet Marketing Influence on Internet Media Content and their Users at Czech Media Environment" we use a qualitative analysis method composed of the semiotic and the narrative analysis to describe and interpret the chosen samples of internet marketing content. The semiotic analysis helps us to interpret both the basic surface and deep significations present in the visual and text code of the interpreted samples. The narrative analysis unravels a narration the act is constructed from followed by interpretation. The application of both the methods allows us to identify myths in the narratives. The aim of application of both methods is to describe specific and repetitive deep significations and narrations individual communicates are built from and thus characterize internet marketing media discourse. The narratives form a basis of the interpersonal communication; they allow us to preserve and communicate significations through them. All the narratives of the interpreted samples of content were constructed with a basic conflict (or contradiction) and presented to the public...

Verzichová, Klára ; Beneš, Jiří (advisor) ; Holubová, Markéta (referee)
The task of diploma thesis "David and Goliath: A Narrative Analysis of 1 Samuel 17 ", is to analyze one of the most famous biblical stories through the methods of naratology and give a view on the text through various narrative categories. The greater part of this thesis will deal with exploring the characters, the dialogue, the role of the narrator, the implied reader, the events in the story, focalization and other categories. At the conclusion, there is a small excursus with a historical perspective on the story of David and Goliath. The excursus helps to place the text into a specific historical context and it also important for understanding the overall meaning of the text. The conclusion of this thesis presents to us a meaning of the story about the battle of David and Goliath. In this thesis I used narrative analysis in combination with a historical approach, and I can say that the story has two dimensions: the first dimension is focus on the individual and indicates who follows the path of Saul and the Israeli army hasn't future. But who follows the way of David and Jesse, follows the way of God, that is a very important for a human. The story offers hope for people. Goliath is a symbol of the threat of faith, religious identity and political freedom. Conversely, David symbolizes hope for...

Stuchlíková, Zuzana ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Štechová, Markéta (referee)
This thesis aims to compare, based on two case studies, the approaches of Czech and French weekly news magazines to the leading politician's privacy. For this purpose, magazines Le Point and Týden, from French and Czech environment respectively, were selected, according to various criterions. Opening part is mainly theoretical and deals with general terms as the publicizing of politician's privacy, its causes (such as the changes in media environment, personalization of politics etc.), development and consequences (such as a celebritization of politicians). Special attention was devoted to the development of privacy media coverage in both countries, legal conditions and attitude of Mirek Topolánek and Nicolas Sarkozy towards media. The analytical part follows the story of Topolánek in Týden, and of Sarkozy in Le Point, using the method of narrative analysis. The main focus is on four events, in both cases lined up the way it happened - divorce, new relationship, wedding and a birth of a child. General conclusion of this thesis is that even though there are some similar aspects in approaches in both countries, overall approach differed in style of presentation and the emphasis given to the question of leading politicians's privacy.

Intrinsic religiosity practice. Psychological aspects of intrisic religiosity of Catholic mothers
Bartáková, Vladislava ; Slaměník, Ivan (advisor) ; Muchová, Ludmila (referee) ; Tavel, Peter (referee)
INTRINSIC RELIGIOSITY PRACTICE Psychological aspects of intrinsic religiosity of Catholic women - mothers of small children. Key words: Intrinsic religiosity, Prayer, Spirituality of an Everyday Life, Motherhood, Catholic Faith, Identity, Narrative Analysis Secularisation of the current post-modern Europe represents a collapse of Christianity in the sense of an integrating power of the society; however, it does not mean extinction of Christianity as such. The largest European church has been responding to the changes in the post-modern society by moving the emphasis from Catholicism (institutionally - as a doctrine attitude of the church) to Catholicity (openness and universal attitude of the church). Despite this inner movement, the Roman Catholic Church is losing numbers of their members and frequently it does not satisfactorily address, among the competition in the 'religious market', agnostics or even the 'searching' ones. From another point of view, however, it is obvious that for many people it still remains a 'home' in which they develop their faith as an individual expression of existential needs. The symbolic universe of the traditional Catholic religion provides these people with factual as well as symbolic tools to develop spirituality. Significant changes in religiousness and...
