Institutional arbitration proceedings
Veselovský, Jaromír ; Zoulík, František (referee) ; Smolík, Petr (advisor)
101 Resumé Institutionalized Arbitration In my thesis I deal with current development of arbitration. I chose this topic due to increasing common interest to solve disputes trough the arbitration proceedings. Arbitration itself represents one of the forms of alternative dispute resolution which is more and more applicable in practice. This trend sources from the fact that arbitration is faster and explicitly more flexible than the common civil proceedings. Arbitration offers an alternative to civil proceedings and it is popular tool for dispute resolution, especially as for the business law disputes. Enactment of law No. 216/1994 Coll., Arbitration act, represented a significant shift in the applicability of arbitration comparing the previous legal regulation. Aforementioned act introduced applicability of arbitration even among the domestic subjects and broaden the possibility to resolve disputes outside the state court system which in fact contributed to stabilization of business environment. Regarding the fact that proceedings in front of permanent arbitration courts in the Czech Republic, same as other foreign arbitration institutions brings the parties particular advantages, I focused on the institutionalized arbitration. My determination was also influenced by the fact that this thesis should have...

WebDAV client with automatic synchronization
Vávra, Petr ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee) ; Trčka, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design "dual panel" file manager with WebDAV protocol support which extends well-known HTTP. The application is an alternative to FTP clients. That brings some benefits such as ability to work behind firewall or cooperation support. The application provides well arranged graphical user interface to manage either local or webdav files. Users can run basic file operations like copy, move, rename, delete within local and webdav directories or between them. Furthermore, the application offers sophisticated synchronizaction support. It allows users to run oneshot synchronization of two directories especially the local and webdav one. What is more, the automatic synchronization checks every changes in source directory and carry out the appropriate file operations in destination directory. The other features of the application are the ability to lock webdav files and directories, saving connections profiles and secure communication over HTTPS.

The myth and the reality of the king Matthias in Slovenian literature
Kastner, Katalin ; Nedvědová, Milada (referee) ; Jensterle Doležal, Alenka (advisor)
This thesis explores the development of the King Matthias myth in Slovene literature from the 19th century onward. Ever since first appearing at the end of the 15th century (the period of Ottoman wars in Europe), the myth of King Matthias has been an important part of the Slovene cultural heritage. Though historical evidence is scarce, it is believed that after a small army of Slovene peasants fell in battle while trying to fend off the Ottoman invaders. The locals came up with a compensatory story, claiming that the Slovene fighters were not killed, but instead retreated into hiding. Soon, the story became less and less rooted in reality, and new elements were added. The newly created myth describes an army of a hundred soldiers, lead by a Slovene king named Matthias - a figure based on Matthias Corvinus, an actual Hungarian king in that period. In the story, the army is outnumbered and facing certain death, when suddenly a nearby mountain opens up, offering king Matthias and the remaining soldiers shelter. Legend has it that one day the king is to return from the mountain, bringing with him peace and prosperity. It is important to note that for a long time, the myth of king Matthias was not mere superstition, but represented a very prominent spiritual figure for the Slovene people. The archetypal king was...

A myth in the perspective of a cultural theory (Egyptian myth of Usir and Scandinavian myth of Baldr)
Herrmannová, Nela ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
This cultural-historical work deals with the analysis of myth, being the core of spiritual culture and culturologist interpretation. The aim of this work is to focus on the Royal Egyptian myth which is one of the oldest myths at all. Further, the work is going to compare this myth with the Scandinavian myth about Balder. Finally, the goal iof this work is to explain the role that mythology had in times of its blossom, when it was actually lived, and what does it mean for people today, in the 'demiraclenized' and overmodernized world. At the same time the work argues with some technical sources and thus brings another detailed interpretation of the myths. Apparently, the comparison of two myths, distant in both time and place, endorses Joseph Campbell's opinion about the unity of human spirit and claiming that our human fantasy and imagination underwent a similar development, despite different cultures and surroundings. The main goal of this work is to demonstrate by various examples the meaning and role of mythology in human mind and to confirm its adaptability function by analysis of two affinitive myths. This analysis offers some further conclusions concerning the unity of human mind. Apart from what has been said above the author also concentrates on a theoretical contemplation on myth as a drama topic....

Dwelling and drifting in space. Landscape in the poetry of Ted Hughes and Kenneth White
Potočňáková, Magdaléna ; Procházka, Martin (advisor)
This study was originally motivated by a desire to bring together a personal predilection for both landscape(s) and the study of literature, to merge the affective and the cognitive with the more analytical. An attempt to write a critical study about landscape in poetry, however, is bound to encounter difficulties as it is bound to ask questions. As Chris Fitter suggests in his book Poetry, space, landscape, the subject offers multiple approaches and tends to spread innumerable strands linking often disparate areas. On the other hand, one may ask a subversive question, namely whether nature and landscape poetry is not somewhat anachronistic at the turn of the second millenium. It must have seemed so when Terry Gifford, in 1995, opened his book Green Voices3 with a polemical statement: "Nature poetry is having a bad time". He was referring to the previous decade during which allegedly the 'spirit of post-modernism' had changed the preoccupations of poetry and which was marked by such statements of reviewers and editors of poetry anthologies as: "We seem to have lost out nature poets", "We don't publish much landscape poetry" or "Ted Hughes is a remarkable writer but no longer the presiding spirit of British poetry". 4 The very title of Gifford' s book, however, indicates a new impetus behind contemporary...
