Tablecloths
Rabochová, Agáta ; Nikitinová, Alice (referee) ; Kvíčala, Petr (advisor)
I present a series of paintings of small and large formats. The basis of these paintings is a fascination with everyday banality. I was interested in objects that we use every day. Objects, which for us have become common. I chose a tablecloth for my thesis. I work with its decor- it emphasizes the main theme of the painting. The primary impulse for this work was the need to respond to the unceasing desire of people to surround ourselves with little things that make life more pleasant to us. Czech painters who inspire my work are Kvíčala, Anthony Střížka and Vít Soukup. Romantic painters were the first artists ever who dealt with topics of everydayness. In Romanticism, people began to notice ordinary and mundane things like landscape. Furthermore, the Impressionists studied triviality. Certainly breakthrough was Marcel Duchamp, who began to draw attention to common objects in a new way. From contemporary artists dealing with dullness and banality I can not neglect the work of Jiří Kovanda and his performances.

Neglected child in kindergarten
Tržilová, Jitka ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Marádová, Eva (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to describe the historical development of child care in the Czech Republic and in the world. It was never easy for children in the adult world. At the origination, the leader of the tribe decided about their lives. In the past murders of little girls were common, men could fight and protect the tribe or nation better. Boys were often killed by enemies so there was no descendant left. It was not until the acceptance of Christianity in 16th century that it had changed. It was still not a peaceful childhood, but there were no child murders. On the other hand, a lot of childen ended up in monasteries without parents. Nowadays at least children in the developed world should have a real childhood. Unfortunately there is still a considerable amount of adverse cases. Another goal was to familiarize the reader with CAN Syndrome. In 1962 the term "Beaten Child Syndrome" was used, later the name CAN Syndrome became common. This syndrome was first described in the USA, where they noticed children have injuries their parents cannot make clear. Categories included in CAN Syndrome were established by the Council of Europe in 1992. One of the most important goals of the thesis was to focus on child neglect (its forms, conditions and signs of neglect). In the research part I determined...

Sociology and Existentialism. Question of "Purpose" from an Existentialist Viewpoint
Hlaváček, Karel ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Holeček, Tomáš (referee)
Diploma thesis Sociology and Existentialism. Question of "Purpose" from an Existentialist Viewpoint deals with the problem of aim and purpose of sociology. First we want to doubt what we grasp as nonproblematic reception of attitudes on what sociology actually is, which is to be found especially in common sociological discourse. We want to accomplish this by challenging sociology to defend itself against what existentialism perceives as ultimate concern of human beings and by suggesting that in order to comply with this challenge sociology should become religious in Tillich's and Fromm's sense. Second we aim to conceptualize what purposeful sociology would mean and analyze how sociology has been loosing purpose. Third we aim to hint at what sociology should do in order to stay purposeful.
