Habitat colonization by the neophyte Impatiens glandulifera and factors limiting its distribution
Marková, Zuzana ; Hejda, Martin (advisor) ; Frouz, Jan (referee)
Habitat colonization by the neophyte Impatiens glandulifera and factors limiting its distribution The invasive alien Impatiens glandulifera has been present in the flora of The Czech Republic for more then one hundred years. It has colonized banks of all larger rivers and its spread is still in progress. The presence of Impatiens glandulifera is mostly reported from associations with nitrophilous dominant species, mainly riparian tall herb and scrub communities.. However, the impact on native vegetation is rather low in these types of invaded habitats. It cannot be distinguished unequivocally, if this alien's preference for riparian habitats is associated with the site conditions or with the specific dynamics of the river, which i) transports the seeds efficiently and ii) creates sites suitable for the invasion of I. glandulifera via its flooding regime. The spectrum of habitats further from the river that have been reproted to be occupied by this invasive alien seems to be wide (rocks, forest edges and coppice, embankments, wet meadows). Plants tend to be smaller on these sites and generally do not create such dense stands as in riparian habitats, however, they do flower and produce seeds. That is crucial for their futher spread. Studies suggest that if I. glandulifera changes its site and habitat...

Šimůnková, Tereza ; Jonáková, Anna (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor's work pursues the activity of the literary magazine Divoke vino in the 1960's and nowdays. The literary magazine Divoke vino was founded in 1964 by a group of four seventeen-year-old middle school stud ents as a basis for young non-established authors. As it was the only magazine to give the publication posibility to young people at the time , ma ny significant poets , writers, but also photographers and artists started to publish their works here (e.g. J. Zacek, P. Verner, L. Landa) . Many figures from Czech underground also associated here, lead by Milena Jesenska 's daugh ter Jana Cerna. The leading personality of the magazine has always been its chief-editor Ludvik Hess. Though Divoke vino had always awoided political themes, its activity was pulled up forcibly in connection with the change of political situation in Czechoslovakia at the beginning of 1972, and its chief-editor Ludvik Hess was arrested. This event ended up the first of Divoke vino 's two periods of existence. The other one started in 2002 when Ludvik Hess decided to renew the magazine 's activity on the internet. This time, it is not meant to publish new young authors primarily (though they do appear on its web sites regularly) but its task is to compare Divoke vino's 1960's authors' writings to their present work. Single-Image License Plate Recognition
Vala, Tomáš ; Winkler, Zbyněk (referee) ; Štanclová, Jana (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with analysis and design of an automatic system for a single-image license plate (LP) recognition. Input data came from a system for car speed measurement on the roads in the emirate of Abu Dhabi (the United Arab Emirates). A goal is to recognize a numeric identi cation code on a LP and a type of the LP. In details there are discussed individual parts of the system for LP recognition. A particular stress is put on segmentation and grouping of individual characters to be able to utilize specific information on the LP from Abu Dhabi during the character recognition. The diploma thesis compares several methods for character recognition - a minimum distance classi er, feed-forward neural networks and hidden Markov models. The methods (and some modifications of them) are tested on real data and compared according to the percentage of correctly recognized digits (at fi rst the digits were manually classi ffied). Wrongly recognized LPs are undesirable. Instead in some cases it is better to mark the LP as "unrecognized". That's why there were introduced sophisticated tests for recognized digits reliability veri cation. A summary of our own results is included.
