Labor market in the USA on the turn of 19th century
Filip, Jan ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Krček, Matěj (referee)
My Bachelor work is devoted to the problems of deformations of labor market under the influence of institutions such as labor unions, federal government of the US and a judicial power. Most importantly it aspires to answer questions as: Why do employees join labor unions? Are labor unions beneficial for the economy? Do the government regulations have anticipated results? I consider this field of economics to be ever actual and very important. First of all I will make an effort to identify what made the workers join the unions, what ways the employers implied to prevent them and if union activities could be marked as economically beneficial. After that I will try to analyze government interventions into the labor market, at what extent they were successful and what their true intentions were if different to the proclaimed ones. In the last part I will make use of the American Federation of Labor as a case study. I will point out the reasons why it did not fall apart in contrast to other labor unions, resp. role it was fulfilling and the development of it intercrossing with politics and its relations towards government interferences. In conclusion I will attempt to summarize the consequences of the activities of unions, employers and government on the labor market.

Life and culture of the Nias island at the end of the 19th century in the context of the collection of Pavel Durdík in Náprstek s museum
Žaludová, Anna ; Pospíšilová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Pflegerová, Mariana (referee)
This master's thesis aims to introduce Pavel Durdík's collection (possessed by Náprstek Museum) which provides an evidence on the life and culture of the Nias island at the end of the 19th century. Based on analysing the material objects, Durdík's notes, correspondence and publications as well as later additional anthropological research data and papers, it is designed as a descriptive paper integrating an anthropological and museological approach, or (if you like) the general social and cultural science and the studies of particular material objects.

Availability of urban green spaces in European cities
Malach Čejková, Petra ; Čihař, Martin (advisor) ; Reif, Jiří (referee)
Most of the European population and half of the world population lives in cities and their share will probably continue to increase (UN, 2010). With increasing urbanization, urban green spaces are becoming the most available means of contact with "nature" for more and more people. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to try to determine which factors affect the recreational use of urban green spaces. As the main factor was expected the availability of green spaces, ie. their quantity in the area of residence. The basis of the thesis was available literature on this subject, confronted with the outcomes of visitors monitoring in five forests in Prague between May 2009 and April 2010. The visitors monitoring followed a long series of studies, which were executed mainly by Institute for Enviromental Studies, Faculty of Science,Charles University, mostly as a dissertation thesises, in Prague forests and in Czech national parks. In this submitted thesis, particular attention was paid to data from the Prokopske udoli, where the author coordinated the visitors monitoring. During the 12 days of visitors monitoring, 14 359 visitors passed through the intersection of the main counting station - of which 59% walkers and 41% cyclists, moreover 868 dogs, 388 cars and 456 prams. Total estimated traffic is in the...

French defence policy after the Cold War. The Changing role of the army
Rubešková, Martina ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Pachta, Lukáš (referee)
The present thesis deals with the changing status position of the army in the French defence policy according to the expanded security concept of the Copenhagen school. The concept of security in France has changed after the end of the Cold War, the consequent disappearance of the threat represented by the clash of the East and West and with the expansion of the threat sector and referent objects. It was necessary that the role of the state and its army has to change based on the newly defined threats. Throughout French history its army occupied an important position as it ensured France its independence and grandeur. However, events associated with the end of the Cold War have resulted in changes in the French defence policy. There is an expansion in the tasks that the military must assume to protect its state. On the basis of three factors (France's approach to the international system, the protection of the individual and the receding role of the army) the present thesis analyzes the changing role of the army in the defence of France.

The Meaning and Perception of Local Smal-Town Cinema
Bargel, Robert ; Gibas, Petr (advisor) ; Pauknerová, Karolína (referee)
This diploma thesis is an ethnographic study of a local small-town cinema in Řevnice near Prague. It analyzes social, cultural - or symbolic - meanings of this cinema with respect to a wider social and cultural context. Because the cinema, as a place, is constituted by the social practice of "cinema-going", this thesis is a "thick description" of spectators' lived experience in that space. The author of this thesis employs the interpretative approach of Geertz as well as the approaches of phenomenologicaly oriented thinkers of Patočka, Berger, Luckmann and Tuan. The author's research reveals that in current times, there is a strong symbolic polarity between small cinemas and multiplexes. Small cinemas are seen to be in opposition to the "popcorn culture" of the multiplexes on the levels of aesthetics, morals, ethics etc. In the case of the cinema in Řevnice, the local character of the facility is very important too. It not only distinguishes this cinema from multilpexes, but it also helps form local identity incorporated by the town and its inhabitants. The author also points out the differences between young and older people's perception of cinemas in general caused by their different previous experiences. In order to capture the wider cultural context of the cinema, the author uses the work of...

Nanofiber membranes as carriers of drugs 4. Polyethylenetetrafluorethylene, polyamide 6/12, polyaramide, gelatine.
Ihraczká, Jana ; Musilová, Marie (referee) ; Doležal, Pavel (advisor)
Jana Ihraczká 2009 Diplomová práce ABSTRACT Nanofiber membranes as carriers of drugs 4. Polyethylentetrafluotethylene, polyamide 6/12, polyaramide, gelatine. The last decade brought development of many new interesting technologies. Electrospinning of polymers belongs to them and unwoven nanomembranes are the product. We worked with the samples of unwoven nanomembranes obtained within a frame of co- operation of the Department of pharmaceutical technology and Elmarco Co. Ltd. Liberec. The results obtained are a part of a primary application study and unwoven nanomembranes properties for topical and sublingual application. I was engaged in evaluation of four unwoven polymer nanomembranes made from polyethylentetrafluorethylene, polyamide, polyaramide and gelatine. Membranes were impregnated with 3 % nimesulide in the suspension and gel (Coxtral, Aulin) in the in vitro transdermal permeability study using the diffusion cells of area 1cm2 or 2 cm2 of active skin area and 400 mg amount of suspension, respectively 0,3 g of a gel. The samples of acceptor phase were withdrawn at suitable the time interval from 11,5 to 59,5 hour and then evaluated with HPLC. The other properties of unwoven nanomembranes, namely contact angle, soaking capacity and tensile strength examinations. From the permeation studies, result show...

Accumulation and biotransformation of nitramines in plant tissue
Šídlová, Petra ; Skálová, Lenka (advisor) ; Szotáková, Barbora (referee)
Explosives are toxic, recalcitrant to degradation and contaminate large areas of land and ground water. Remediation of these xenobiotics is difficult and an enormous logistical task. Phytoremediation is a technique that offers an environment friendly, low-cost alternative to current remediation techniques. However this approach is hindered by the low metabolic abilities of plants towards these xenobiotic compounds and the phytotoxicity of these compounds. The fate of the explosives RDX (hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine) and HMX (octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine) on exposure to plant was investigated in hydroponic system of sunflower (Heliantus annuus L.) and hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) approximately for more than 10 days. Exposure levels were: 10mg/l and 50mg/l RDX, respectively HMX for sunflower; 25mg/l and 50mg/l RDX , 5mg/l and 50mg/l HMX for hemp. Their ecotoxicites were characterized by the test based on the inhibition of elongation of primary roots 3days-old mustard and hemp seedlings. Extracts of plants were analyzed by HPLC (liquid chromatography). These study showed that RDX and HMX was taken up by both plant species. The accumulation of these nitramines was observed more in the roots than in the aerial parts of the plants, except for RDX in hemp, where the...

Monitoring of biochemici markers of septic states
Brodská, Helena ; Kazda, Antonín (advisor) ; Zazula, Roman (referee) ; Průša, Richard (referee)
The topic of systemic inflammatory response is lately often discussed across the whole field of medicine. Early diagnosis and the following adequate therapy minimize the risks of the development of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Therefore there is a general urge to find an appropriate marker for diagnosing and monitoring of the development of SIRS. Each year new markers appear, markers that fill up the mosaic of a pathophysiological picture, but we still do not have a marker, that would fulfill the demands of specificity, sensitivity and availability. In the recent ten years, one of the most promising markers seems to be the PCT. (...) In two studies with patients in end states renal diseases (ESRD) the non infectious elevations appear as marker of severity of clinical state. In the last study we confirm the relationship between PCT and severity of clinical state and the antioxidative defence, respectively the plasmatic selenium level. In the above mentioned studies I would like to present the wide range of this marker, which in the meantime is one of the most used markers of the SIRS. I would like to stress the importance of a correct indication and of an accurate interpretation in accordance with all the other parameters, but most of all with the clinical state. PCT, being almost ten...

Legal Development of the Slovak Republic 1939-1945
Poslední kapitola zachycuje jednu z nejsmutnějších a nejostudnějších skutečností slovenských dějin, protižidovské...

Business Intranet of Ferona
Kos, Jiří ; Voříšek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pecha, Tomáš (referee)
Information management has begun to gain importance very fast during the time of internet business, auctions, stock exchanges, in the time of increasing number of international companies. Nowadays very often mentioned topics are how to obtain and deliver right information at the right place in the right moment, how to communicate with business partners, collaborators, superiors. Intranet belongs among devices for information management and I deal with just this theme in my diploma work. The defining of Intranet belongs to main aims of this text i.e. terminology, elements, principals of function, current trends and also giving instructions for building or reconstruction of company intranet. The detailed study of current trends during building company information system, case studies and instructions according to "Best practices" was the way how to achieve defined goals. I gathered information mainly from internet information sources which deal with this topic, mainly from foreign servers. I can see the contribution of my diploma work that it tries to give instructions for managing the project building company intranet, its timing and it draws attention to critical factors of success. The suggestion of new appearance of company intranet is the culmination of my diploma work. The work is clearly structural -- I present the explanation about problems of company information system in the theoretical part, in the practical part I deal with finding out of main lacks and formulation demands of new appearance of company intranet and at the same time I suggest possible new appearance. I evaluate achieving defined objectives and sum up main ideas in the conclusion.
