Cílem této diplomové práce je seznámit čtenáře se sbírkou Pavla Durdíka v kontextu společenskokulturního uspořádání ostrova Nias, jak mohlo vypadat v 80. letech 19. století. Výchozími prameny jsou samotné předměty, Durdíkovy poznámky, korespondence a publikace, ale také data pocházející z pozdější doby, z antropologických studií a výzkumů, které neúplné poznatky Pavla Durdíka doplňují nebo upřesňují. V žádném případě tedy nejde o práci inventivního charakteru poskytující nové teorie k tématu materiální kultury nebo niaského kulturního komplexu, ale deskriptivní práci čerpající ze všech možných a obtížně dostupných pramenů ve formě literatury i samotných předmětů zastoupených ve sbírce Náprstkova muzea. V práci se prolíná badatelské pole antropologie s muzeologií, resp. obecné vědy o společnosti a kultuře s pojetím konkrétních objektů materiální kultury. This master's thesis aims to introduce Pavel Durdík's collection (possessed by Náprstek Museum) which provides an evidence on the life and culture of the Nias island at the end of the 19th century. Based on analysing the material objects, Durdík's notes, correspondence and publications as well as later additional anthropological research data and papers, it is designed as a descriptive paper integrating an anthropological and museological approach, or (if you like) the general social and cultural science and the studies of particular material objects.
