HPLC evaluation of select drugs VI.
Kadaňková, Barbora ; Mokrý, Milan (advisor) ; Kučera, Radim (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control Candidate: Barbora Kadaňková Consultant: RNDr. Milan Mokrý, CSc. Title of Thesis: HPLC hodnocení vybraných léčiv VI. This thesis focuses on assay optimization for simultaneous quantitation of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide in combined tablets. First, chromatographic conditions were tested and optimized settings were then used for tablet content determination. Good chromatographic separation was achieved using an ET Nucleosil (125x4.6 mm, 120-5, C8) column and a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile : ammonium acetate (0.001 mol/l) in the ratio of 25:75 (v/v) with addition of sodium hexanesulfonate (0.002 mol/l). The solution was acidified with acetic acid to pH 3.50 and then adjusted to pH 7.00 using disodium hydrogen phosphate. The mobile phase was pumped at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min and UV detector was set at 254 nm. Methylparaben was used as internal standard. Individual compounds eluted in the following order: 1) hydrochlorothiazide, 2) valsartan and 3) methylparaben. The linearity range for valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide quantitation was 0.08-0.24 mg/ml and 0.012-0.036 mg/ml, respectively.

The question of miracles in non-christian religions
Adamczyk, Piotr ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
This thesis deals with the question of miracles in non Christian religions. The idea of a miracle forms an essential part of all religions, i.e. not only in Christianity. In all faiths unusual divine interference exists. The first chapter deals with the miracle from the point of view of Catholic theology, specifically the conception of the miracle in the work of St. Augustin and St. Thomas Aquinas. Besides that, it also contains the contemporary definition of a miracle. In the second chapter a description is given of the conception of a miracle in the Old and New Testament. In the third chapter we find a presentation of ethnical faiths with their conception of a miracle (if relevant), which were performed by kings, magicians and witchmen. In the fourth chapter the question of miracle is related to two universal religions, i.e. Buddhism and Islam. These universal religions influenced the history of religion and were therefore elaborated upon separately. We should comprehend a miracle as a divine sign, which belongs to the basic conceptions of this term and does not only exist in Christianity. The history of religion confirms that in all faiths, which were studied, exist divine signs, which could be interpreted as miracles. Key words: - miracle - miracle in non-Christian religions - miracle in the...

Democratic deficit of the European Union
Votavová, Andrea ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (referee)
The diploma thesis analyses the democratic deficit of the European Union. Each state which enters the European Union has to transfer a part of its sovereignty to supranational institutions. These institutions than adopt legal acts binding for all member states. The paper deals with the separation of powers in the process of adopting legal acts on the European level. The legislative power is represented mainly by the directly elected European Parliament. The diploma thesis defines the term "democratic deficit" as a weakening of the legislative power to the benefit of strengthening of the executive power on the European level and then deals with its origin and development with the emphasis on the increasing competences of the European Parliament. The last part focuses on an engagement of the European Parliament itself in an attempt of removing the democratic deficit, especially in the period after the adoption of the treaty of Nice and the entering of the Lisbon treaty into force.

Understanding the Death in Han China
Laštovková, Andrea ; Nešpor, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Novák, Aleš (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Understanding Death in Han China" deals with, as the title says, death in China during the four centuries of Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD), the way this phenomena was viewed, and the changing perspectives towards the afterlife and the various forms of immortality in addition to death itself, all of which were essential at this time and which greatly influenced the following centuries of imperial China. The Han dynasty period was a sort of bridge between ancient and medieval China, which is apparent when looking at how the understanding of death was changing at that time. Death was first understood as a separation between the body and two souls, one of an animalistic nature, the other of an intellectual nature. This double nature of soul disappeared following at the end of Han dynasty. The concept of immortality was changing as well. Magical Taoism with its Taoist alchemistry was beginning to gain more attention, which increasingly started to influence immortality, though the influence of magical Taoism was strongest at the end of Han empire and during next dynasties. A variety of influences transformed the Chinese understanding of death but the concept of the cult of ancestors has remained the same. Regardless of the changing ideas towards death, the Chinese maintain a solid belief in the...

Causative Constructions \kur{faire+inf.} and their Czech Translation.
VENUŠOVÁ, Alena
This thesis provides a comparison of causative mechanisms between two languages: Czech and French. The aim of this research is to reveal expressions that contain a causative meaning in Czech and to analyze which of them are truly equivalent to the French causative construction faire + infinitive. This work classifies general causative mechanisms, according to their nature, between synthetic (prefix, lexical expressions) and analytic (French complex predicate faire + infinitive, periphrastic constructions, separate clauses) and focuses on the French construction by describing its syntactical and semantic specificity. This causative construction is the basis of a parallel research in corpora InterCorp, a technical tool which helps excerpt authentic texts. Additionally, it is attempted to clarify and classify the usage of the Czech equivalents and search for factors that influence their choice with an eye on the source language.

Český Těšín vs. polish Cieszyn 1920-1938, urbanism and architecture
Havránková, Magdaléna ; Pešek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vykoukal, Jiří (referee)
The B.A. thesis "Český Těšín vs. polský Cieszyn 1920-1938, urbanismus a architektura" ("Český Těšín vs. polish Cieszyn 1920-1938, urbanism and architecture") deals with changes of mentioned towns during the interwar period. This B.A. thesis is based on the form of original town Těšín that existed till 1920, when it was separated between two states and when two new towns appeared - Český Těšín and polish Cieszyn. The main part of this thesis represents an analysis of urbanistic and architectural aspects of both of them. Those changes are founded by the agreements that regularized the division of Těšín. Special emphasis is put on the analysis of the house building in Český Těšín that lost the majority of buildings necessary for town structure and town existence. Several questions should be answered in the end of this B.A. thesis. How the both towns changed during the interwar period, if the division of the town Těšín was settled successfully to satisfy both sides and if the town Český Těšín took the advantage of this occasion that offered the possibility to build a modern town in accordance to the interwar principles of urbanism and architecture.
