Wastewater: plant indicators around mountain chalets – case study "Niklův vrch" and "Rennerovy boudy" (The Krkonoše Mountains National Park, Czech Republic).
Brádlerová, Tereza ; Skalický, Milan (advisor) ; Jan, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis was solved in Niklův vrch and Rennerovy boudy, areas located in the eastern part of The Krkonoše Mountains National Park. The main aims of this work were vegetation survey and description of environmental factors by Ellenberg indicator values of meadow areas contaminated by leaked sewage and meadows in their vicinity (referential areas). Another objective of this study was to determine soil pH, acceptable phosphorus and total nitrogen content and heavy metals amount in soil samples. Based on all collected data was proposed future management for each area. The negative influence of leaking sewage on meadows in Niklův vrch wasn´t confirmed, because of their highly effective cleaning by three-compartment septic tank and biological filter before discharge into surface waters. Leaked sewage loading was demonstrated in Rennerovy boudy, but only in the area just below the septic tank. The reason of the loading is unsatisfactory condition of the septic tank itself (change to cesspool by blinding discharge and sunken cover). This area was characterized by low species diversity, which is connected with the lowest number of plant species found there (12 species). Based on the habitat of dominant nitrophilous species Urtica dioica and species with nitrophilous tendencies (Alopecurus pratensis, Geranium sylvaticum and Chaerophyllum hirsutum) was determined association Rumicetum alpini Beger 1922 here. Soil from the area affected by the leaked sewage was characterized by the highest pH/KCl and total nitrogen content and also increased contents of acceptable and total P and K compared to other soil samples. To suppress this undesirable community Rumicetum alpini Beger 1922 is particularly necessary to improve the process of purifying leaking sewage by replacement the cesspool for household wastewater treatment plant. The distribution of this community also affects the absence of management. Therefore, it seems necessary to renew one-year mowing by scythe of this area.

Participants in local development (Kácov, Chlum, Tichonice, Kladruby)
Jirků, Markéta ; Kocmánková Menšíková, Lucie (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to compare and evaluate the importance of social activities, whether and how it contributes to quality and to the development of local life and local communities in the surveyed municipalities Chlum, Tichonice and Kladruby (municipalities under three hundred inhabitants) and compare the social activity of these municipalities with the thee times bigger township Kácov. The aim of this thesis is to find out the reason why smaller municipalities under three hundred inhabitants appear to be as active as the larger township. The theoretical part defines the terminology related to the topic. The empirical part of the work consists of secondary and comparative data analysis of actors, activities, and community amenities. Secondary and comparative data analysis showed that social life in small municipalities is varied and rich especially in entertainment, cultural and sport activities. Compared to the bigger township there is less folklore and education activities in smaller municipalities. It was found that the most active municipality is Kladruby with the activity ratio to population of 5,3%, followed by Tichonice with 3,6%, township Kácov with 3,3% and Chlum with 3%. It came out that there is not a direct correlation between the number of actors and social activity of the municipality. The activity of individual actors is different. It means that it is not the truth, that the more groups of actors are in the municipality, the more activities are held by the actors in the municipality. It was found that township Kácov disposes with the most diverse community amenities. Despite of a noticeable impact of community amenities on regularity of organizing activities, this factor is not the only condition for organizing activities. Deficiencies in community amenities can be partially replaced by well-functioning common organizing activities by actors, what is the factor what differentiate smaller municipalities from the large township. Exogenous approach was, over the last ten years, evident in all of the examined municipalities. There was obtained and invested financial resources to the municipalities community amenities, which allowed organizing new activities or continuing with organizing of existing activities. The empirical survey was carried out through semi-structured interviews with the actors operating in the public and nonprofit sector in the examined municipalities. A key factor in the activity organizing is community involvement connected with the mutual cooperation of individual actors (i.e. a combination of utilization of actor´s cultural and social capital). Smaller municipalities may not seem, to the interviewees actors, as active as three times bigger township. Reasons why smaller municipalities may seem as active as the larger township are more significant community involvement and a higher rate of cooperation between actors in organizing activities in smaller communities. The social life plays an important role in all of the examined communities - especially in creating and maintaining interpersonal relationships, in strengthening social cohesion, preserving the traditions and creating the relationship with the place. It was found and confirmed how important endogenous approach (active actor) in development of examined communities is. With the proper supplementation and harmonization with exogenous approach can be the endogenous approach further stimulated.

The Impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on Economic Growth – The Case of Selected Arab Countries
Hodrab, Rami Mohammad Awad ; Maitah, Mansoor (advisor) ; Soukup, Alexandr (referee)
Information and communication technology (ICT), population growth, gross capital formation, Openness, labour and inflation are frequently well-thought-out as important drivers of economic growth for all countries, so as for Arab countries in our case. This study aims to examine the effect of these factors on 18 selected Arab countries economic growth, covering the period from 1995 to 2013, with the main interest of the impact of ICT. The results show positive and significant impact of ICT index (infodensity that represents the capital and labour stock of ICT) for each individual country (except for Djibouti with negative ICT index elasticity and UAE with insignificant impact) ranged from 0.10 for Lebanon to 0.469 point for Qatar. The panel regression results show that ICT positively and significantly affect the whole sample of 18 Arab countries economic growth with 0.108 point, as well as GCF ratio with 0.129 impact, in addition to openness which encounters positive and significant impact with 0.054 point, and inflation with negative significant impact. These results are accommodated with many related studies. Population growth is insignificant to economic growth. The 18 Arab countries are divided into three sub groups according to their infodensity levels. The research results show that there is a relatively large gap between first and second groups of high and intermediate infodensity values in one side and the third group (with low infodensity and GDP per capita values) on the other side. In order to verify further the results of positive and significant impact of ICT on economic growth, a second study model that depends on Cobb-Douglas production function is applied with ICT and non-ICT capital services and labour services. This second model is applied on five Arab countries that covers the period from 1993 to 2014 using ARDL method. The regressed results show a long run equilibrium cointegrated relationship between ICT and non-ICT capital services, in addition to labour services and GDP growth. The results tell a positive and significant elasticity of ICT capital services at short and long run, and this value is more than the ICT capital services compensation share, which indicates ICT spillover in these Arab countries. Labour services impact on GDP growth is positive and significant on long run, but for non-ICT capital services, there is a negative and significant impact. So finally it is worth for the Arab countries to invest more and efficiently in ICT assets, in addition these countries have to efficiently use the available ICT resources.
